If Greipel gets 20 wins this year will they ban *** helmets and skin suits?

I liked those bars! After the UCI ban you saw Shimano equipped riders in breakaways gripping the gear cables in front of the stem instead.

If Cavendish was riding back then I'm sure he would be banned for sprinting in an unusually low position.

2002 Vuelta. I was watching some stages on youtube and the first time trial was quite ridiculous.

1 Aitor Gonzalez (Spa) Kelme-Costa Blanca 45.32 (48.09 km/h)
2 Oscar Sevilla (Spa) Kelme-Costa Blanca 0.40
3 David Millar (GBr) Cofidis 1.00
4 Joseba Beloki (Spa) ONCE-Eroski 1.01
5 Antonio Tauler (Spa) Kelme-Costa Blanca 1.24
6 Iban Mayo (Spa) Euskaltel-Euskadi 1.30
7 Roberto Heras (Spa) US Postal Service 1.34
8 Klaus Möller (Den) Milaneza-MSS 1.42
9 Christian Vandevelde (USA) US Postal Service 1.43
10 Oscar Pereiro (Spa) Phonak Hearing Systems 1.50

So many funny things about this list. First of all, the Kelme 1-2 with two riders few had heard of a year or so earlier. (sounds familiar)

Sevilla, Beloki, Mayo and Heras. I thought they were supposed to be climbers. guess not!

St. Millar makes an appearance, was this before or after he had stopped doping?

Klaus Möller. Who?

Lol, Klaus Möller. Completely forgot about that guy. Whenever that guy appeared on the tv the viewers hematocrit would go up a couple of points. Rarely seen such an obvious doper.

There are many scenes in that race that were ridiculous, keep watching.

Pre-Bust.

Watching the angliru stage now. Kelme train going strong, then Aitor Gonzalez drops everyone except Heras, who proceeds to just sprint away and put 1.30 minutes into everyone. wow. Its funny how obvious the doping is when you watch that now, but back then i had no clue.

That is the absolute most memorable. Just f*cking destroyed the entire field (which was itself full of dopers), riding away with ease on the Mure without even going anaerobic.

Just freakin' nuts.

The UCI is such a joke.

Oh the humanity! :p

Agreed. Are Muur times recorded?

2002 and 2004 Vueltas were amazing racing. And Wiggins looks like he modelled his climbing style on Aitor Gonzalez.

Not the most memorable, but Pecharroman back in 2003 ripping off Heras's legs at Catalunya and Euskal Bizikleta was pretty notable. As was his disappearance.

Okay, newbie's naive question. What did Gewiss do differently that made the difference?

Its taken as the truth that Indurain, Bugno, Chiappucci were on EPO before this. Presumably that means that all/a large proportion of the field were on it. Yet Gewiss rode away from everyone - so what was the step forward that they made?

Taking more risks on the haemocrit values, EPO+blood bags, what?

Do you not believe that anyone was doped in the 89 TT:confused: Well you can believe in Santa if that makes you feel better:)

Nice try on trying to create a straw man argument. Instead of trying to defend your suggestion that Lemond doped, you ask "did anyone dope?"
