Wiggo in fourth place by a few seconds. On final lap Cav breaks away from the bunch pulling Wig, gets a gap and buries himself. Wig solos on in front of severely confused bunch that fails to organise and he stays away to finish moving onto podium.

(All thought up without chemical assistance)

Sure, guys have gone for seconds on the final day to get a better finishing position, final day time trials excluded. Vino did it and Levi got screwed, because the Tour director said bonuses were out, and then back in again.

However, Cav going out to "bury" himself for someone on another team, even though they are both Brits, is beyond the realm of possibility. Especially considering the bad blood between Columbia and Garmin. If ANYBODY goes off the front, they're going to get reeled in, not only because Columbia wants to get The Manx Express the stage win in Paris (one of the biggest races a sprinter can win), but other teams will want to take a shot at beating him on the Champs Elysee.

you also gotta remember that after their olympics fiasco Cavendish and Wiggins don't exactly get on anymore...

That is the most unlikely part of your scenario.

Doping violation, that is a 10 point hit. What's good for the goose....

Unlikely scenarios?

Evans finds a loophole in the rules that allows him to strap a JATO unit to his bike. Fires the rocket on Ventoux, forgets the laws of physics, is last seen at 10000 feet and climbing...

LA tosses a water bottle into Andy Schleck's spokes, but everyone thinks Kloden did it. Contador wins, but gets busted a week later when empty blood bags are found in his trash. LA inherits the MJ.

Cavendish files a complaint against Hushovd for unsafe riding on the final sprints around the Champs. Was heard saying - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
