Morgado has looked like a sour puss the few times I've seen him on a podium. He doesn't show any enthusiasm for the sponsors or the audience. I wonder if Morgado's lack of results is more mental / emotional than physical.
In Junior, he had the same old-man face with a mustache, but he won or was podium every race  . So I don't think that's why.

It's incredible to think that it was Junior in these photos. He's always had the same expression, and he was very good back then.

Morgado was far superior in Junior, sometimes looking much older than the rest. Perhaps that's his problem, and he has less room for improvement. That world championship was one of the few races he lost, in a sprint.

Could be. He also from January so he have been the oldest of his generation. I’m always a bit hesitant for big talents born in January or February in young cycling.

Bad race again today, in a race that should have gone very well for him.

Let him rest and reconsider what they're doing wrong with him. He seems to start the season well, but it seems very long. This year he had a good month, in very minor races, and then he hasn't had a significant presence in races.

I had a lot of faith in this rider for classics like today's; let's hope he doesn't stagnate.

Curious... In football, the majority of professional football players born between January-April and normally players from October-December, due to relative age effect, don't succeed.
Depends where you are: in English football, autumn births are very much over-represented, as the school year determines what group you participate with in youth leagues.

But I think he is saying that those with a birthday early in the year get better results that don't necessarily indicate future success, because in those early years the relative age artificially boosts their results, but in the longer term, that sort of advantage is not sustained. In a sport like football, where getting picked as a youngster for higher level teams, better access to coaching, being told from an early age that you have the ability to make it, maybe makes more of a difference.

Might be interesting to see the top ten juniors over the course of a few years, their later success as pro's, and whether there is much correlation between that and their birth month.

He will be good again next year from January to somewhere in March or April and then disappears after that.

Nice win on his birthday? His talent isnt in question. Its super intriguing, hes extremely versatile and incredibly strong, with raw talent and a very high so as well.

Hopefully he can sort out the mental side and perform well throughout the entire year as he gets older now, cause up untill now thats been lacking. Its going to be interesting to see him in the Giro and what a GT will do for him. Imo it likely will be another springboard for him and his developement like we’ve seen from so many before him.

Good to start the season with a win already in January.

Morgado started working with Javier Sola last off-season so I expect him to improve epecially on the climbs. Doing a GT should also be very good for his development.

I think he will become somewhat more impressive on the climbs than the general think but remains to be seen kinda thing def not sure but he has showned early potential for the type of rider he is. True usually the second year and forward is the most effective with a new training regime but hes also young so improvements are expected regardless.

Neverthless to me just nice to see what his first GT will do for his devlopement above all and that as he matures if he manages to figure out the mental side and can hold form throughout the year. I just like his raw talent thats intriguing.

What's wrong with his 'mental side'? He was ill three times last year, had his season severely disrupted. Where are mental problems reported?

True im not refering by that to last years results, he was also ill in 24 which impacted his second part of season. But I recall he said in a interview pre-race he struggle with self‑esteem from time to time, that hes very hard on himself and puts himself down on some occasions very easily and that he need to work on that cause its not always benefiting him.

Which is pretty common in high competetive sport im sure when your young from time to time and as he matures not a issue at all. He seem very reflective which I think is just good in athletes in order to improve. I properly worded myself a tad bit incorrectly by saying mental side by what I meant.

Let's see if he can keep this up. He's obviously in stellar form, but can he keep that until the Classics? I would love to see him do well in the classics, and I think he's very well-built for that, but his history in mind, I fear that he's peaking too early once again.
