Watched the new German version of All Quiet on the Western Front. We thought it was very good. It's really good at showing what is happening on the front lines, as well as the attempts of negotiations to end the war. I think it does a decent job of showing the sheer number of people who died during WWI.
I enjoyed it.. Pretty gritty and enjoyed seeing what I think is special effects of the entire area in ruins and burning at any given time.

Dio: Dreams Never Die..about a rock star..never liked the music.. enjoyed this documentary.
Don't Worry Darling.. everyone in the movie is outstanding..
Hamsters of Inisherin..started watching and couldn't stop.. Colin Ferrel is perfect fit..and the opening shots of the landscape set everything up for a good story.
Gone in the Night.. Wynonna Ryder in a movie that is confusing from the opening scene until the credits.. It's really really dumb..watched all of it.. What does that make me?
Sr..( senior) Robert Downey Jr makes a movie about his dad..excellent in my opinion
She Said..about the original NYT reporters that discover Harvey Weinstein story details and get the MeToo movement rolling.. not very good.. Good actors.. Director lost the story trying to be too historically accurate. Dialogue was all cramped trying to spit out numbers and names that real people don't do in 2 minute conversations..

Arcade (1993) - Pretty decent concept but very poor special effects and CGI... Tron's I can understand because of the time and era, but Arcade came out a decade later, so you would think some progress had been made by then. Also, Peter Billingsley was spectacularly awful, poor guy will always be Ralphie Parker to me even though he was all grown up. For a flashback to 80s video game technology I think Arcade is pretty decent/accurate though.

Ouch, Jeremy Renner! https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-...te-blunt-chest-trauma-snow-plow-b2254962.html

I don't know a thing about snowcats so won't jump to any conclusions, and freak accidents do happen. Hopefully Renner will recover successfully with (also hopefully) all limbs intact, I'm sure those snowcats can do some catastrophic damage if you happen to get under one.

Having said that I haven't followed Renner's entire career but thought he was good in Dahmer, North Country, and The Hurt Locker.

Snowmaggedon (2011) - Hilariously stupid because it looked like they couldn't decide whether it should be a sci-fi disaster flick or a Hallmark Channel holiday movie with a message, it was a bizarre and uneven mix of both. Still, I enjoyed the silliness and the snow globe looked kinda cool.

Some good news for Jeremy Renner. He's been released from the hospital and is back home.
I read this also.. What a swing!!! The first story I read was he was trying to pull a stuck in the snow vehicle using a multi ton snow cat and he got out to do something and the snow cat treads ran him over and broke and ground up his leg..close to needing it amputated!!
I wish the guy well..His new Michigan based show is hard to watch..
But the scenes with Renner and Oscar Isaac in a remote cabin in deep snow as some drones try to kill him makes The Bourne Legacy almost worth watching..
Speaking of almost worth watching..
The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker.. really didn't know what to expect.. didn't know anything about the story and it was pretty wild
Also good in my opinion.. Die Falscher..a German movie about a counterfeiting operation in WW2..

Short Night of Glass Dolls (1971) odd thriller about a journalist trying to trace his girlfriend who vanished suddenly. Weird mix of the surreal, thriller and cold war politics but never boring. Morricone music score and some inventive camera work helped, along with the Prague locations, some of which were filmed in Slovenia. Plenty of atmosphere without much explanation.

You People
.. the cast are obviously capable of being funny.. It's as if the director tells everyone to hurry up and the films editor used takes that were not any good.. Super confusing especially Eddie Murphy and Julia Louis - Dreyfus.

Shotgun Wedding
I knew it was a romantic comedy.. It wasn't either.. and I know movies are not made overnight but man, sure I liked White Lotus but Jennifer Coolidge is too much.

M3gan
It's a little different than Chucky..I love all the confusion including law enforcement.. They come to investigate multiple murders on the same street and look in the house and say " can we talk to your daughter? "" that's not my daughter, it's a big toy doll" cops say ok and move on..
Dampen om Narvik.
Movie not done on the cheap.. Norway WW2, source for materials for Hitler, description says where he gets one of his initial defeats.. Good movie

Really really good movies.. Some pretty heavy.
The Son..Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern are great. not a happy ending..
and an older movie that The Son tries to use the ending..
An American Crime.. then Ellen Page is outstanding and opposite her ,Katherine Keener who plays evil.

Sharper is a movie about a multi layered scam.. Really good and Julianne Moore solid

Ok movie.. Knock at the Cabin..scary on lots of levels..

Good film..Women Talking.. adult and child actors all equally awesome..

Baby Ruby..is a mash up of Stepford Wives and Rosemary's Baby and it's good
Great movie..
Empire of Light.. Complicated love story were the boy doesn't get the girl at the end, it's totally okay and you are satisfied. If they have awards and this movie, these actors are not recognized, then it's fixed..

And a must see for folks who like football and feel good movies.. Fantasy Football.. Nobody believed Burt Reynolds or Adam Sandler were football players.. But you watched, this movie has lots of obvious laughs and has better casting.. This movie is not as good as Water Boy but close..

The Whole Truth (2016) - Terribly unoriginal courtroom drama with Keanu Reeves and Renée Zellweger, neither Keanu nor Zellweger were recognizable. (Keanu looked like a wax figure from Madam Tussauds and Zellweger I didn't even recognize after she had had her face done.) Zellweger was by far the best part about it though, being I didn't recognize her I kept wondering who this very good and nuanced actress was.

Touches on a few.. Few too many social hot buttons.. Overall a pretty good, predictable film.. Mr. Scrooge only without Christmas.. Tom Hanks plays a modern day Karen..perfect
I enjoyed the book and the original Euro film version. The Hanks version looks a bit more over the top from the trailer I saw. Have to admit that the book was pretty predictable as well yet entertaining.

You have seen the movie a dozen times or more.. Same with the characters.. there is a darkness to it.. Because of profound loss Hanks is overcome and is suicidal.. you are asking now.. How does that play into a comedy? It does and the actress who plays his new Mexican neighbor is also got a loveable Ricky Ricardo thing that has not got old yet..

Have to love Hollywood. So they turned his Muslim neighbor into a Mexican for the American version.............
