For a small bit of clarification to the above comment. My husband at times will ask me if I think a guy (usually actor sometimes an athlete) is good looking. Yes, we both will sometimes say something if we think someone is good looking or cute or whatever. The humor is more the fact Daniel was playing a Nazi in that movie than the fact I made the comment about him being cute. Now after seeing him more movies and shows I love him.

No worries, a lot of times actors are being cast because of their looks, and if they can act it's a bonus. (I'm looking at you, Hollywood.) We're supposed to admire their looks.

My girlfriend and I thought Ralph Fiennes was good-looking in Schindler's List, which is like the ultimate taboo. I mean, he was playing that vile Nazi filth Amon Goeth, but there's no denying Ralph Fiennes himself is attractive. So, it is what it is.

You're right. Hollywood is good at doing that.
Yeah, that's worse than my reaction to Daniel, who was just playing more of a soldier than anything else. Now what is going to be worse is when the King's Man (the prequal to the Kingsmen movies) is released. Daniel is playing a much bigger Nazi villain in that one and I know I'm going to be watching it going he's too good looking to be a villain. LOL. Of course Daniel has talked about getting typecast in mainland Europe at 18 as a pure good guy. Now in the Hollywood he's managed to get himself typecast with roles of guys who are a bit of a jerk but are right about their beliefs. What's even crazier is because the MCU has finally realized what they have with Daniel the rumors are they are going to have Baron Zemo as more of an anti-hero than anything else and more rumors are that they are looking at how to make him one of the faces of the franchise moving forward because of how popular Zemo has become after Falcon and Winter Soldier. He actually wanted to play some villains and can't even manage that when he is cast as one with Baron Zemo. LOL. Although at this point he's said he likes were they've taken Zemo and really likes the idea of Zemo being a very dangerous ally to the heroes.

I will just go over the movie list first..if you want to harm yourself or your family, watch Sweet Girl w Jason Mamoa..no matter what you think the movie will be less..the opening scene, and dialog will have you looking for a box cutter..
Rouge Hostage..this is a good movie to watch if your choices are getting a root canal from your neighbor in his garage after he did mushrooms.
Reminiscence..this is another one that proves having all good ingredients doesn't ensure good end result..
Stillwater..there were a few people that jumped the gun and said things..Amanda Knox..saying she deserved payment for something so close to her story..the men that Matt Damon drank beer with and went out to eat with so he could nail the role of recheck..all should have said nothing because being anything similar to the characters in this film is bad..these movies have millions and millions of things in common..dollars wasted .
Now Daniel Bruhl..the guy is great..and The Alienist. Is proof..
Beckett is predictable and pretty good..
I am enjoying The White Lotus..

The latest movie Daniel Brühl has done is called Next Door (Nebenan). He stars in it and directs it. It's been released in Germany, who knows if it'll be released anywhere else. However I'm hoping it gets subtitle because it looks funny. For all know it's serious and it just looks funny because I don't understand German at all. He did post a trailer for it on his instagram page.

Unchained, I agree he's a fabulous actor. If Rush hasn't convinced you the Alienist should.

Phenomena(1985) its nuts but entertaining nuts. The chimp's performance was quite good compared to some of the others. This 80s horror effort from Dario Argento had it all. Vengeance seeking simians, girls that loved insects, a boarding school full of Eurotrash and some great Swiss scenery. As usual the visuals were good as was some of the soundtrack.

Mother of Tears (2007) the conclusion of Argento's so called witches trilogy and by far the worst of the three. A bad movie in every way and sadly the director had well and truly lost his mojo before this substandard effort.

Crimson Tide (1995) - Every actor put his manliest macho on in this post-Cold War submarine flick, which is okay. But otherwise this was a lackluster mishmash of The Caine Mutiny, Das Boot, and The Hunt for Red October, all of which I find very good. So... think I'll have to rewatch The Caine Mutiny, that's a tense Humphrey Bogart military drama. Crimson Tide is forgettable.

Dracula Untold (2014) -- I watched it because of the trailers. Now I did not see it at the theater, watched it when it eventually showed up on TV. I found it an interest way take on the character. Definitely had it problems which is a big reason I don't own on DVD, but to me it's watchable. It's one of those stories/scripts that could have been better.

Have any of you seen the movie Burnt? It stars Bradley Cooper and he plays a chef who has issues and tries to get a second chance. Anyway, looking for opinions on if it's worth watching or not.

Save The Tiger (1973). Great performance by Jack Lemmon amid other good performances. Character study of a businessman on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The sort of slice of realism movie you rarely see anymore but were quite common in the 60s and 70s.

Blue Thunder (1983) - Woe is me, I actually watched an action flick (well, with some forwarding) and survived to tell the tale. The plot was silly and implausible, dialogue inane, characters unlikable, but there were explosions, lots of explosions. One thing that was interesting was that Roy Scheider specifically signed up for Blue Thunder because he did not want to be available to make Jaws 3, his contract would have required him to partake in Jaws 3 if he was available. Blue Thunder or Jaws 3, not sure which is worse. At least Scheider got paid, though his acting in Blue Thunder was unremarkable and uninspired, and who could blame him?

I'm a fan of action movies. I love Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, enjoy the Expendables movies. I have seen Blue Thunder once and my vague memory of it is it isn't very good.

I liked Die Hard and Lethal Weapon (what I remember of them), but Blue Thunder was so by-the-book and uninspired. You've got the old, disgruntled, but still good good guy, you've got the bad guy, a very thin plot, and explosions, lots of explosions.

To each their own though, I like movies that would put most people to sleep. So, it's all good.

I ended up watching Jaws 3 even though I wasn't going to, can't remember much. At least Blue Thunder is memorable because of the helicopter scenes... I have a thing about helicopters, they creep me out. I've even had unpleasant dreams where a helicopter was spying on me through the window just like in Blue Thunder. so there's that.

If we all liked the same thing it would be a very boring world. I've seen Die Hard, Die Hard With a Vengeance and the Lethal Weapon movies tons and tons of times. However, it's also obvious that some interests to overlap.

Wow you went full Argento the last couple of weeks.
I haven't seen all of his movies, but some of his early work is visually incredible as you said.

It's been a while since I've seen it, I remember admiring Christoph Waltz's assets. (Don't judge me!)

I'm a Waltz fan! Not of his looks, but he does have great presence, mixed with light irony and some touches of softness; I really enjoy him as an actor.

You know Goodbye, Lenin, I suppose... I've always liked that film...

I remember I only watched Inglorious Basterds because a friend wanted to see it... I'm not a Tarantino fan (I guess I only really like Reservoir Dogs), but that one was better than I had expected... it was the movie that made me realize how nice it is to just go to the movies with a friend to see a film you have no expectations about... often a positive surprise.

Dracula (1979) - Of the dozens of Dracula movies this I think is one of the best ones, the sets, scenery, atmosphere, and acting are just wonderful and eerie. Laurence Olivier was splendid, he really put himself into the role despite this only being a Dracula movie. Frank Langella was properly mysterious and spooky as Dracula, and Donald Pleasence is always a welcome addition. One thing I don't understand is why it's rated R, there really isn't much violence, sex, or even foul language. (If anything the movie is sensual, not sexual.) Being I first saw it as a kid it did scare me a bit, but I don't see why older kids couldn't watch it without parental guidance.

Got around to watching this the other day, it's quite good. I think it would work well on a theater stage because the sets and even wardrobe are sparse (Jack Lemmon wears the same Italian suit pretty much the entire time), and the movie is very dialogue-heavy. This does not make it bad, but I had wondered whether it had originated as a play and to my surprise it did not.

Jack Lemmon's character has a lot on his plate, I questioned how one individual could be so all over the place. But after reading up on the screenwriter and novelist (Steve Shagan) I learned he himself had led a very colorful life, so it all made sense.

Interesting factoid - Jack Lemmon fought tooth and nail to get this movie produced, he even took a severe pay cut. It paid off...while the movie wasn't a huge box office hit it did earn him an Oscar.

I've never seen Goodbye Lenin. It's not a type of movie I'd typically look for to watch. However, I do know about it and everyone who's seen it has said it's good. A bunch of my friends in Spain have told me I need to watch it just to see him in it if nothing else. I'll watch it at some point. Also found out that a friend of mine who lives in Barcelona actually knows Daniel a little, not enough to say they are friends, more acquaintances.

Funny enough, I happen to agree with you about Reservoir Dogs. It's really the only one of his films I like as well. Inglorious Bastards for me is watchable so if it's on TV and nothing else I'm more interested in is on then I'll watch it.

I think that's before the PG-13 ratings came out. So my guess would be it's rated R because they didn't want to give it a PG rating.

Yeah I quite liked that version. The R rating is beyond silly............
