Lamb (2021) - So being Unchained had mentioned it upthread I watched this Icelandic film, I think it's very good. It's probably the very definition of arthouse - it's slow, very little dialogue, action or music, prolonged shots of people (and sheep) staring into space, but I think it's beautifully filmed. It is a little on the unusual side (the last 10-15 minutes are pretty twisted), but the majority of the film I think is largely allegorical.

I'm glad the ending was left up to individual interpretation, it didn't end in some cheap or gimmicky way. So yeah, if in the mood for arthouse I would definitely recommend Lamb.

I watched the trailer, I'm intrigued. The lead actress, Noomi Rapace, has such distinct facial features you can't mistake her for anyone else. First time I saw Rapace was in the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, she was very good in it. Speaking of Noomi Rapace...

She's also in Prometheus (2012), has anyone here seen it in its entirety? I've started watching it twice now, but then lost interest about a third way through. It's a Ridley Scott movie so I feel like I should watch the whole thing... I'm gonna have to dig deep.

I liked her in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. As for Prometheus I was disappointed, being a big fan of the Alien franchise at least the early ones, but some fans really liked Prometheus. I thought it had one or two great scenes but overall was pretty disappointing. Some great visuals though.

I grabbed the bull by the balls and ended up watching Prometheus and Alien: Covenant (2017) in their entirety... what's with the prequels? There's supposed to be a third prequel coming out at some point, being Ridley Scott is only 83yrs. old by god I'm sure he'll get it done!

Anyhoo, I think they're both okay as long as you're doing something else at the same time (I was working on a jigsaw puzzle), they're not something I'll remember years from now. I thought the best part about Prometheus was actually Noomi Rapace, the woman has a six-pack and has just about zero bodyfat, she reminds me of a distance runner. She clearly doesn't shy away from roles that look physically very demanding, in every movie I've seen her it looked like she got quite the workout. So hat's off to her, it's too bad she wasn't in Alien: Covenant.

Yes I thought the surgery scene in Prometheus was gobsmacking ! She was good as was Michael Fassbender playing the devious droid. There is supposed to be an Alien TV series in development and two more movies I think.

ET is good..nice alien..instead of kill you type..Benji..nice dog..everyone loves him..and Real Steel..Hugh Jackman and a kid make,control a robot with a human heart..loveable,a fighting Rumba..bunch of Mad Max..mashed up here also..but man, Tom Hanks..I watched this movie and kept asking why..why did you make it?

Black Christmas (2019) an attempt to remake a cult horror movie using so called woke politics, that fails miserably. One of the worst remakes I have ever seen which is saying something.

The Purge (2013) a stupid premise that never rises above tedious. One day a year all crime is allowed.........ho hum. Not surprisingly the same producer is responsible for both pieces of cinematic swill.

She was great in the Bates Motel series along with Freddie Highmore as Norman. Every performance of hers is usually on the money.

Mother (2017) Darren Aronofsky movie that was too incoherent for many including me. Started out as a sort of psychological black comedy. I found the set up more interesting than the second half. Plenty of flashy visuals and symbolism. The last 30 minutes was just bizarre. Not surprised to read that many cinemas had walk outs before it finished............

Rites Of Spring (2011) Lame low budget horror effort. The 10% Tomato rating was on the money. Even that was maybe a little generous but it was mercifully short.

There is a South Korean movie from 2009 called Mother, it gets very good reviews. Think I should watch that as well.

The Other (1972) About twin boys living on a farm in the 1930s who have a special relationship with their grandmother. Good visuals but it doesn't quite capture the creepiness and atmosphere of the book. Not a bad movie all the same.

I came, I saw, and after about 45 minutes I left Aronofsky's Mother.

While I love Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, and Michelle Pfeiffer I just lost interest once the sons showed up. It was starting to look and feel unpleasantly dysfunctional, and I just didn't care enough about the characters to continue on this journey. So I gave up and watched another episode of Dalziel and Pascoe instead.

I can't warn others strongly enough to avoid the new James Bond. I had high hopes all of which were dashed a short time into the movie.
everything is wrong,the story and the casting..normally the dialog between characters is predictable and basic..a given in 007 movies. This time it's so bad ..each actor is worse than the next..glass eyed motorcycle villain is silly but ends up being the serious one compared to Robbie Malik or Christoph Waltz..this is a disaster.The normal crazy good panoramic camera shots are there..for lots of the movie you can't tell if it's a green screen background or CGI..it's distracting.the car chases are still good but it's a high point and mostly pointless

Bong Joon ho is a bit hit or miss. I mean, he directed a masterpiece like Parasite but also a very imperfect movie like Snowpiercer.

Mother is an earlier work, when he focused more on dark thrillers. I think Memories of murder is his best movie from that period but Mother is not bad either.

Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow (2004) Like watching a comic book on screen. A throwback to the old 1930s matinees. Similar in tone to Raiders Of The Lost Ark even though the plots are totally different. The stylized visuals were not enough to maintain interest but plenty of action.
