Speaking of Kyuss, this one - 'Gardenia' - is probably my favorite. Damn good, heavy stuff.

I'm listening to the new Lee Ranaldo album, Between the Times and Tides, and I really enjoy it. For a guy like Ranaldo, who's been experimenting for decades in Sonic Youth and on his own, this is surprisingly straightforward. Not necessarily something Sonic Youth purists will love, but I'm digging it. Here's the opening track 'Waiting on a Dream'.

Darren Hanlon - There's Not Enough Songs About Squash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K3R9gprnOU

Maybe to you it's just a game
Somewhere you heard the name
Not for the claustrophobic
A pastime for the posh
Without sounding too peculiar
If it's a cardiovascular
You're after then you can't go past squash

Half Man Half Biscuit - All I Want for Christmas Is a Dukla Prague Away Kit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBmFuySb_Qw

And he'd managed to get hold of a Dukla Prague away kit
'Cos his uncle owned a sports shop and he'd kept it to one side
And after only five minutes you'd be down to ten men
'Cos he'd sent off your right back for taking the base from under his left winger
And come to half time you were losing four-nil
Each and every goal a hotly disputed penalty
So you'd smash up the floodlights and the match was abandoned
And the dog would bark and you'd be banned from his house
And your travelling army of synthetic supporters
Would be taken away from you and thrown in the bin

Besides having perfect titles and clever lyrics, these are actually good songs. A winning combo!

On American Idol last night, one of their contestants (Elise Testone) did a cover of Foreigner's I Want to Know What Love Is. I got hooked on it.

If you want to give it a hear, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DKeIxpH6mg

That's a great song done very well.

Thomas Newman – Any other name (save this for your special person)

Band of Horses – Detlef Schrempf (don't know why this is titled 'Detlef Schrempf'. There's only one Detlef Schrempf I know... former NBA Super-Sonic star.)

Earlier in the thread I posted an uncharacteristically mellow and accessible track by Captain Beefheart.

Now it's time for an uncharacteristically mellow and accessible track by another group of avant-garde pioneers, the amazing and surreal, and most definitely unique Residents....

A bit more of the eyeball kids, from 1974's insane epic The Third Reich 'n' Roll, distorting and destroying a number of 60s classics:

I liked that.

Here's a cool little blues rock tune sung by hip hop rapper Erik Francis Schrody:
Everlast – What it’s like (on Whitey Ford Sings the Blues)
It's not new, but it's still good.
