The Pretenders, like the Allman Bros., were never able to maintain their initial promise. Each one lost their musical compass after their second album. James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon for the Pretenders and Duane Allman and Berry Oakley for the Allmans were in each case the musical heart of their bands, and the bass and lead guitars as well. Who knows what they might have done?
