I'll bet the Roxy was incredible in those days.
One summer when I lived in Santa Cruz Neil started showing up out of the blue playing clubs like the Catalyst in band called "the Ducks". He'd been doing acoustic stuff for a couple of years and I think he was wanting to get his his electric shops back. (that black les paul) so I think he just wanted to play live and do extended solos. Great stuff. One night at the Catalyst the drummer that I think used to be the Moby Grape guy was so drunk he could hardly stay on his stool and 'ol Neil just soldiered on and plowed through this guys slop like there was nothing wrong.
