Ah yes.. Neil had a habit of bailing if things weren't going exactly to his liking.
I was proud of him for lasting through the y2k tour. lol.. which I got to see... they were fantastic.
I'll bet the Roxy was incredible in those days.
One summer when I lived in Santa Cruz Neil started showing up out of the blue playing clubs like the Catalyst in band called "the Ducks". He'd been doing acoustic stuff for a couple of years and I think he was wanting to get his his electric shops back. (that black les paul) so I think he just wanted to play live and do extended solos. Great stuff. One night at the Catalyst the drummer that I think used to be the Moby Grape guy was so drunk he could hardly stay on his stool and 'ol Neil just soldiered on and plowed through this guys slop like there was nothing wrong.
Thanks for starting this walk down memory lane.
my future ex-wife and i were at one of those shows too. cool days indeed. i have not thought about that show in a long time. drunken falling drummers.
i recall Michael Clark when he was with Firefall, falling down getting on stage. he then, crawled to his drums. and played great.

At work today, I listened to Dvorak's New World. The last three movements got my brain firing. Would have bolted early and went for a ride if the weather was more cooperative.

Right now? "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

I just plugged the Marshall Tucker Band into my Pandora radio. I am sure Lynyrd will come up before too long!
