F.cking Unzue, and his obsession for Valverde. I have the only possible challenger for Froome? F.ck it, I'll still make Valverde my leader.

Other way around.
Unzue wanted Tour, Quintana demanded Giro

Quintana can also do Murito-type last k sprints, that's what won him the stage on Semnoz and Burgos. He won't lose much to Rodriguez boni-wise, and he's much more consistent than Porte over three weeks. He's the number one Giro favourite by far, especially when considering his ongoing progression over the last years.

No he can't. Yes, he can do it at the end og a big climb because he is a superior climber to most other riders, but there is really no chance that he can beat Murito in those 1-2 k ramps.

Are you as a moderator allowed to bash riders purposely? I think it's really annoying. Please don't respond if you're want to insult a rider. That's better for everyone.

Isn't he allowed to express his opinion?

I highly doubt there would be any mods if we weren't allowed to express our opinions and post as normal posters. I certainly wouldn't be a mod if that was the case.

Express your opinion is good, but saying you hate the guy's attitude, racing style not. All his posts about Rodriguez are negative. It doesn't show good manner. I think it's pathetic, why not respect riders and forum members?

I'm pretty sure he did it on an early stage of Catalunya this year? Wiggins attacked first I think. He dropped Purito and Valverde with ease

Edit. Found it. Awesome scenery as well

I think that is under the category of "at the end of a big climb" and not "1-2 k ramps" ;)

I applaud this desicion. Winning the giro should rank higher than a podium in the tour.

I wish Contador and Nibali would do the giro too. Then it could be really fun. It would be like the tour, only without Dawg to ruin everything.

Anyways, Porte will probably drop him easily in the mountains. :p

I think it's a logical decision, if it will be this way. Nairo has a real chance in Giro to win. The cobbles, a 54K ITT and the Alien is too much for him to win yellow. Valverde wants a podium, maybe a last try and to be honest he deserves it.

Don't bother, I've spent many an hour fencing against that particular windmill

Anyone had a look at possible support riders in each?

He will almost certainly have Lastras as road captain. I would expect maybe Intxausti, Visconti, and Capecchi. Don't know who else, and also don't know whether they'd still bring Ventoso to the Giro like they've done in past years - he could be helpful for the flatter stages.

This is the Quintana thread. Please take your mod complaints to a more appropriate section of the forum. Thanks!

I will be very happy to see Quintana in the Giro and fully expect that he could take the top step!

That section of the forum was closed down:rolleyes: So where do you recommend the poster take his complaints?

Oh I didn't know that.....PM I guess as they certainly don't belong in a rider thread. I come here to read about Nairo not a mod.

Back to Nairo: love the little guy and hope he gets a GT win next year. Giro has a long ITT but plenty of mountains for him to crack others on.

This is what I feared would happen when they closed the mod thread - the complaints don't go away, they just spread to other threads

But if you are Quintana's age?
Also the stage win, KOM jersey and Best young riders jersey last year are good accomplishments- other than winning what else could he do- everyone knows how strong he was in that race and both performances (Giro win and TDF podium) should be lauded.

Can he win the giro with a potential three minute plus deficit to Porte in the time trials? Don't get me wrong he's a great rider but is his poor TT'ing going to turn him into the colombian Purito Rodriguez?

???????

You lost me there.

If that was a good reason they would take him to the Tour anyway. (Being the Pave another potential difference, but so it is for everyone that is not a Pave-Classic rider)

The funny thing is that Quintana already beat Porte in the "Vuelta al Pais Vasco" TT.

Maybe Castroviejo, Dowsett or the Izaguirre brothers? The depth of Movistar is excellent ATM, even if it isn't totally stacked like Astana or Saxo.

Also, Porte could be in for a shock if he thinks he can win doing a Levi, following in the mountains and trying to ride away in the TT. He'll need at least one day of Ax-3 form and no bad days at all. After the TdF and Catalunya I doubt he'll be resting on his laurels though, Brailsford may have let a few choice words slip when he heard Nairo could do the Giro :D

the flat itt in tour 2013 was clealry a bad day the worst itt by far I've ever seen from him where he went full. he also said that himself after the stage.

also where exactly has movistar confirmed he will do the giro? I'm sure quintana wants to, but I doubt unzue wants it. yhis year quintana also wanted to do the giro and not the tour but unzue said no.

It is not confirmed at all. It's just an article from Biciciclismo that stated Unzue himself wants it that way, but it still has to be decided.
