I think he would be on podium(if la Ronca won't be in great postion after cobbles and TT) right behind Contador and Froome.Considering leadership,no illness and not going all out in on Grappa and Zoncolan.

edit: on the other hand I would rather see him do that in 2016 orso, and be in suspense for 2 years ;)

We need to be cautious about it. Remember what happened to Contador in 2011. I am not sure it was all due to the crash in the Tour. Doing the double is very hard nowadays.

I think the injury was a big part of that unsuccess. The other thing was that the Giro was very hard and he went almost 100% imo.
You know me I like to do bold predictions and I know you dont like it,sorry for that in advance:)

edit:Im not saying he would be fighting for victory,of course not.Fresh berto and froome would be level above, but 3rd place would be possible in those conditions which I mentioned earlier imo.

I rather see Quintana winning Giro-Vuelta this year than winning Giro & be used by Valverde until he fails & then try to save Movistar by earning a top 5.

Having said that- I do believe Nairito can well do a double depending on how hard & suitable are both races for him.

Can't see him taking much time on a fresh Froome after a giro win. So it must be a tour with very very very few flat tt kms

Quintana isn't going to win against Froome in the Tour. It is useluss to even imagine it. If both man are equally fresh, it's possible. But now? No way.

Quintana should try to win the Vuelta. He's of course the big favorite there. Winning two GT's in a year would be really special.

Ryo - you may have gotten this one right. He is certainly headed in the "legend" direction. If he can keep it up year after year, eh?

Anyway, you had your crystal ball on the right channel the day you posted this. Chapeau.

I already posted on this forum in 2010 that quintana would be the first colombian tour winner. I think he's colombia's main hope for that in the next few years. he's like rujano except his mentality is better than that of any pro I can think of, especially rujano and he's also not so vulnerable considering he is 51 kg in topform. he4 handles cold and rain rather well and he's a good descender and he's improving so uch his positionhing in peloton as well. in 2009 when a friend, who knows quintana personally told me of quintana and his truly amazing talent, I started to follow him in detail and he improved the only real weakness that he had as youngster(descending, no explosivity, positioning in peloton)

it won't happen but if one rider is able tyod o the double it's quintana. he hasn't gone 100% anywhere except 1 stage and will win without having to dig deep. send him back to colombia to rest and train and then bam july I would like to see how strong he is.

I would too. Unfortunately I don't trust Unzue not to put Valverde's all-important podium aspirations first

This.

Nothing to do with Valverde. Targetting the tour NOW would be beyond stupid.
He'd throw away the vuelta win.

yesterday there was a mention of quintana considering to call it quits after the gavia descent. seems really far fetched, given how things tranpired after that, so not buying it at all. but just in case i gotta ask - are there any legs to this?

if not, he seems to enjoy playing a bit of mind games, too.

It would not be the first time that he is playing mind games. I am starting to get to use to this.

First time I saw him grimacing on a bike.:)
He wanted to make sure who's boss.

We can expect him to hang onto Aru's wheel tomorrow and launch a late attack.

Lets hope mechanics will put suitable gears for him today,if so,he will be tough to beat.
imo he has better recovery than anyone else in this race, and before Giro he said that from whole Giro route he 'likes' stage 20:cool:

Today it was just a tense spectacle for us fans:D
