The crash happened yesterday in the TT. Bike went into the railing and he flipped over the handlebars. Looked pretty bad.

No,Afrank!
It was today, huge pileup, with 3 abandons including Nairo.

Scapula is not as good as clavicula,he is definitely out of Season.

Its probably good he was forced to abandon (of course the broken scalpula is bad) cuz he said before the stage he doesnt feel good at all and is uncertain if he will finish.
Probably the hip, ankle and knee was bad enough.

He can recover slow and build a healthy base in winter.:)
See you in San luis Nairo.

Perhaps those hi tech shoe covers designed to shave seconds proved costly.
More likely the hi tech carbon wheels grabbed the brake while close to the edge and caused a skid.

Most stupid thing ive seen a rider do what he done. Adjusting is shoe before a sharp bend talk about brain fade. I wish him well in his recovery though. GT's 2015 will be better than this crappy year.

It was a crazy point in which to mess around, the more I've seen it the more it seems daft. He is so young though it's learning the very hard way. Hope he recovers well after surgery now. Look forward to him improving more for 2015.

I don't think the moto caused it but it sure made it much worse. It should never have been there.

I wonder what he thinks about his crashes now. Regarding Contador's form (and the others main rider's form) he would have been clear favourite without his both crashes. What a shame.

It is not the same without Nairo for Colombia. Uran tries but he is just not the same. Basically Uran is not elite climber. He just became a great Time Trialist.:(

Get well soon Nairo!

Nairito's schedule for 2015:

San Luis
Paris-Nice
Volta a Catalunya
Classics (doesn't say which)

Possibly Suisse before Tour.

also says he will be able to ride his bike again in 2 weeks.

Classics should be LBL and Amstel, he'll be a great addition for the team. He'll launch long range attacks that will force the other teams to race way harder. In a race like LBL that could benefit Valverde, other teams could be forced to race hard enough to drop guys like Gerro.

well, I wouldn't say that avoiding best riders except for one race in a season is a good schedule.
kind of dissapointed he doesn't at least try to defend Giro victory. Oh well, wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't win a single WT race next season if that's his schedule.

The riders seem to prepare in different ways.

Froome tries to win everything he enters before the Tour.
Nibali goes for the be ****ing terrible until the tour and then super peak.
Contador (this year) went for some spring stage races than trolled Froome in Dauphine.
Quintana seems to like spending time in Colombia training. It worked for his Giro after all.

He finally gets his chance to lead Movistar at the Tour, of course he'll take that opportunity and run with it, defending the Giro could(would?) ruin his preparation.

I imagine he'll really only try in one or two of his races preceding the tour, but I would not be surprised if he fails to win any WT races as well. We'll have to see how the Tour route looks.

Doesnt matter how the Tour route looks. There are better climbers than him (even if not by a lot) and better time-trialists (by a lot). If I remember correctly he does also get caught in the echelons from time to time. Paris-Nice route doesn't susually suit him, neither do classics since he is not explosive at all.

So what's left is Catalunya and Tour de Suisse. Could be possible to grab a win there but I wouldn't bet my money on him.
