When you see a rider like Bertie or Nibs take the race by the balls and then you look at Quintana , you have to ask yourself
1, no balls to take this race on
2, Not strong enough and his only tactic is hoping Froome has a bad day , He's just not good enough to beat Froome any other way
3 His attack today just before the top of the climb was ******** stupid and pointless. He dragged Froome back to Bertie and dropped Valverde.
What a ****.

So 2 days left and every Quintana Fanatic can only hope Froome has a nightmare day and they can win.
What a joke.

Every day we hear how its a perfect stage for Quintana, its a perfect day if Froome capitulates is what you really mean :D

fighting talk - I like that.
you've got my vote
please win.
He needs to take the bull by the horns himself. Forget about Unzue, let alone Valverde. Most likely than not Froome will have an off day.
Weakened Team sky should have been in 2nd week. Now it is too late

Yeah, he didn't look to interested in going for the overall win today. I'd say he's already decided to settle for 2nd place.

Quintana seems at face value, not to have confidence in his own ability to over haul Froome. It's a real shame he hasn't been able to match Froome but I suspect that will come in the Vuelta.

Contador fans are starting to annoy me. They cry because their guy could not do this job. And I like Contador but some fans get very silly.

Sometimes it is more the hate that they have for Sky more than anything else. They use any bashing if it serves the purpose.

Listen, I have always said it, Contador never should have ridden the Giro if he wanted to win the Tour. It is not Quintana's fault that he rode the Giro. Live with it. Don't bash other people or riders because he listened to Tinkov. He is not God. And the funny thing is that they were trying to convince us that he was strong enough to defeat the opposition. Probably will find a new excuse for it. And one last thing, this is not 2009 if you haven't noticed.

Contador was stronger than Quintana and Valverde and Froome today ,week 3 of the tour :D
I like Quintana but he's just not good enough and Movies tactics are big doogy doo doos.
If Froome capitulates tomorrow and Quintana gets some time back then you have Contador to thank for his aggressive riding and taking the sting out of Froomes legs.

Im happy with Bertie. No other rider could ride the Giro and do what he's doing at a the tour . He's going mano v mano with the best , not getting dropped and even attacking and had Froome was on the ropes on that last climb. Its a great tour and 2 days to go anything can happen even a win for Quintana is possible

Quintana will try tomorrow, but shouldn't have been that open about it.
Not that he'll look silly if fails, or like he's given out his intentions (no one would have been caught by surprise), but mostly because he won't get any help from the other GC contenders. They'll let him do all the work since he was so vocal.

Werent there people saying that Froome looks terrible in stage 10 thread?
Just goes to show how much those 'analysis' are worth......

But it is kind of sad that being happy that he got away for more than 2 minutes and then got pulled back and wasnt dropped on a stage that doesnt even end with a climb is all thats left for Contador fans.
I feel sympathy for him, but fans are extremely annoying

Are we watching the same race?

Contador has been dropped like a bag of rocks when SKY decided to put the hammer down, which they only have had to do once. And he wasn't that strong today. Quintana tried a 15 seconds attack and was reeled in with ease by the other riders and this short episode made them cut the gap to Contador and then they caught him on the downhill despite not pushing it to the limit.

As for Quintana, I don't think he has the legs to do it. He could try and do a long range attack but then he might get leapfrogged by piti because face it, piti ain't gonna wait for a cracked Quintana.

I'd say the real racing is between placings 3-7 and between Froome and stage wins. Will he go on the attack tomorrow or just keep his powder dry and go thermonuclear on Alpe instead?

Yes. About a minute before Contador was dropped by the Sky domestiques, some wise posters diagnosed Froome with "struggling!!!!"

You'd think by now, everyone would be familiar with Froome's peculiar style of riding.

No more annoying than your inability to focus on the events at hand without including a dig at Contador and his fans.

Obviously not...Froome dropped everyone on "that stage" It reminded me off the dauphin when he tried to drop Bertie but could not. But Bertie has the Giro in his legs but today was the strongest with 2 attacks. No one could have dropped Bertie today. If he had followed wheels he would have got time on that last climb.
Froome was tired today, if you watched the race you would have seen him shake his head "no" at Thomas because he was struggling.
Froome was all over this race a week ago. He struggled with Bertie's attack on the last climb. There was a gap and he did well to hang on.
I think if we get early attacks tomorrow the Froome will lose some time. One thing in Froomes favour is the job being done by the Sky B team " movie" :D

Today was very disappointing. What if he takes 1 minute out of Froome tomorrow and another on Saturday? I doubt it will happen, but if it does he has this stage to blame for not having a shot at winning the thing and not stage 2.

I think it would be good for Nairito to gain that time on Froome in the last two days. He needs to learn that you need to take (some) risk to win if you're not in the best position. Today, he didn't give it his all, even though I don't think there was a chance he would've gained any time, whatever scenario you pick.

And who's holding him back?!!! Unzue? Valverde? Ridiculous! If he wants to attack nobody will hold him back, nor could hold him.., look at Contador in 2009. Looks like you overestimate this guy a little, he's no Contador or Pantani. He's good, but not that good. Anyway maybe I'm wrong, let's see this last two stages...

By your logic he would have a better chance by spending energy on a stage like today's with a freaking downhill finish than to conserve a bit for tomorrow's stage which has the most climbing of any stage to date and finishes with a monster climb? Odd.
Anyway, unless Froome really cracks, Nairo cannot take back the amount of time he needs to gain. He needs to crack Froome so Froome hemorrhages time on a single stage. That's the only way Nairo wins. Tomorrow's stage is probably his best shot since there is no valley road after km 58.

I don't think he had the luxury of almost not attacking today. I hope he proves me wrong, but I'm not sure gambling everything on one or two stages is the best approach.

Quintana should've attacked a bit more, or a bit more sustained. On the other hand you could see he was afraid of the final descent.

I still have some hope he can beat Froome in the coming stages but first place looks to be gone...

I like how people can decide he's at his top level aged 25. We don't know that. His riding style would suggest he can greatly benefit from stamina that comes with age.

maybe that's what he got. There's probably reason why the climbing hierarchy is Froome/Contador, Quintana then Nibali. The only way he can drop Froome is by waiting until Froome is fading. Just like 2013. So good luck with that.

Wait Contador was last stronger than him in a big race in the 2012 Vuelta.
If you think only GTs are big races, then it was the Vuelta last year.

Agreed. Today was yawn as far as GC. I like Quintana, but no matter how 100% he is, he can't drop 100% Froome. He is one level below Froome/Contador. He can't say that he didn't have form, he has been having an easy early season and hiding in the mountain for almost 1 1/2. If this is his 100% form, .. he can't win the tour if froome is 100%. So far his attack only resulted in 1 second advantage. He seems to be happy to be 2nd place, it's totally different mentality than Contador. Just too bad, Contador is fatigue from the Giro. Otherwise we will see the battle like in Vuelta. But in every GT race, every time the top riders are being hyped, nothing ever happens.
