he wants richie as domestique at the tour?

Yep and likely isn't happy about Landa and Valverde both going.

on a spanish forum were gossips that mikel will skip the tour..and that's why nq needs someone to derail the ineos train.

Landa was linked to Bahrein to replace Nibali no?

Anyway with all that's going on I think Movistar should be able to match the Ineos bid for Carapaz.

But I have no clue what the intentions of Quintana's new team would be and who else would be going there.

Apparently it's being reported that Movistar is not offering Landa another contract. So I'd say it's very likely both Landa and Quintana are leaving.

After winning the Giro, wouldn't you think Ineos would up their offer? Also yesterday at the presentation the team did in Madrid for winning the Giro Carapaz was asked if he was going to Ineos and his comment was that he was talking to them as well as Movistar and that he hasn't made any decisions yet. Take that for what it's worth.

I think they still have high hopes for Soler.
Oh... Well, good luck to them i guess.

Last year Soler looked like he was are the verge of being really good and I have no idea what happened. However, in many ways with all but Soler and Verona out of contract at the end of this year, this is the perfect year for the team to do a complete evaluation of everything.

Last year he rode a good Paris Nice and Andalucia, but i don't think those were any indication for future GT success, unless we're supposed believe Tim Wellens (a contender in both PN and Andalucia) is going to transform into a GT winner as well. Two years ago he did good in Catalunya and Suisse, which are probably better references as far as GT potential go. When he won Tour de L'Avenir in 2015, he was one of the oldest contenders, and nearly a full 2 years older than Sam Oomen and Laurens De Plus, who were both in the top 10.

Soler turns 26 this fall. At one point you need to rethink your carreer goals. Let's see how he does this summer, but i'm honestly not expecting any major surprises.

in this interview, he said that he doesn't want to go to TDF: "If you are asked to go to the tour de France, would you go?", A journalist asked him, in a press conference held on Monday, June 3, 2019. With forcefulness and without hesitation, the '' rider '' answered a categorical: "No". https://www.eltelegrafo.com.ec/noticias/otros/1/carapaz-tour-france-giro-movistar

That's Carapaz who has said "No" to going to the Tour, not Mikel.

So will Barguil be Nairo's dom ?

The thing is in the sport at the moment riders taking big pay to move to 'unsupported in the mountains' teams looks like a poor decision on behalf of the rider and the team

Sure its a big pay packet but you cannot win GTs without a top team and most teams dont seem to have the top notch climbing doms that are required to beat Ineos
And teams find it hard to buy them when Ineos can pay the big bucks and have the most
And what are left nearly all want to be leaders
So many riders get a top 10 and they then want to be a leader in a GT

Sometimes I think Landa, Porte, Mollema, Majka, would be better off just riding as number 2 in a GT team ...may even do better on GC
But there are 18 teams and most need GT leaders

I so hate that Carapaz is going to Ineos and Landa to Bahrain ...when at Movistar they together they provide a bigger threat on GC thna they will do at their new teams

But money talks

Oh, yeah Quintana did ask for that. Richie said no. I think the team will be smart and let him have July off or at least until after the Tour off and have him race one of the races at the end of July as I doubt he'll race anything in June.

As we discovered in the VN thread, we disagree on this point (mostly). Use Ineos as your dom in the mountains. Obviously the problem with that comes if something goes wrong (flat, crash...) and you need someone to slow down and help pace you back...Ineos probably won't oblige. :D

I don't like any team buying up all the top GC guys either because I'd like to see 10+ guys battling for the GC win.
