You won't see that jersey in the Alps and the Pyrenees, unless they've suddenly added a mountain time trial ;)

Westra's average speed was 49.1km/h. Not bad, but he'll need to be above 50 in a bigger field.

He hasn't won the national road race, at least not yet. ;) At least we'll see Dutch colors in the Tour. Btw does this result mean that Boom does the Olympics together with Terpstra and Westra? Van Vliet was there to see for himself, who he'll select. He can't ignore Boom now...

Considering he beat a guy who got 4th in the Dauphine TT by almost a minute, I think he needn't worry.

Clement already said that Van Vliet will select purely for the road race. And just consider the TT as an afterthought. So I guess this result means that Westra and Boom will indeed do the Olympic TT, but I assume Boom would have been selected anyway.

Lol, are you serious? I just wish sporters themselves don't think like that, else they could hugely overestimate themselves. You can ride a good time trial today and a sucky one a week later. It's like saying Renshaw is more than fine now he beat Cavendish in the ZLM tour. You need to look at the circumstances.

Which you don't. Lol. You just look at the speed, and say "not fast enough".

It was a pretty technical course with plenty of corners. Not exactly like Zaltbommel with the long straight roads

Starting list:

Velits Brothers + 2 other OPQS riders vs 2 Sagan Brothers vs Kreuziger vs 2 Netapp riders vs local teams from Czech Rep. and Slovakia.

Sagan without any support - he said that it is one of the toughest events of the year for his as there is no team support at all - will be simillar to his Olympics race as he will be alone ...

Gonna be very interesting to see how quickstep tactics will be, since they got two tiders from each country.

What was Kessiakoff's average when he beat Cancellara last week?

He does have a point as well though. Beating Kelderman by a minute now, doesn't mean Westra would've beaten or equaled Wiggins in the Dauphine.
Actually I think that the dutch national TT race was ridden on the same day and course as the Dauphine TT that Kelderman would've beat all of them.

But in reality that's a big IF which isn't of any use at all.

The two countries share the same championship? How do they get away with that?

it happens. around this part of the world, that is.
the Hungarian and Croatian RR last year was also a joint event. financial reasons + smallish fields i guess.

Czech Rep. and Slovakia - Women ITT

2nd place goes for Martina Sablikova - she has 2 olympic gold medails in ice skating. There are more examples of riders playing ice hockey or just skating on high level when young - but this is realy interesting - to be on such a high level in 2 totally different sports.

Maybe, but this is a one day TT, and that's always different. Personally I think it's time for a slightly hillier course for the Dutch TT nationals, maybe somewhere on the Veluwe?

Speed skating and cycling use similar muscles, so it is not unprecedented to excel at both of them. Take Clara Hughes, who has Olympic medals in both speed skating and cycling. Eric Heiden also tried switching to cycling after the 1980 Olympics, although without a great deal of success.

Sven Kramer finished second in the junior Dutch ITT championship in 2004, behind a certain Robert Gesink :p

I thought at the Olympics he would have Peter:confused:

Tossing up other names for the Italian RR ( Montaguti or Nocentini ) i think could both go well.
