Ion Izagirre takes the TT win for Spain:

Movistar top 4:

1º Ion Izagirre (MOV) con 50'52"
2º Jonathan Castroviejo (MOV) con 51'14"
3º Alejandro Valverde (MOV) con 51'17"
4º Jesus Herrada (MOV) con 52'14"
5º Luis Leon Sanchez (AST) con 52'24"
Nice win for Izagirre and also a good result for Castroviejo, considering his crash a while ago. Disappointing performance by Lulu.
Lulu probably a bit out of shape having had to soft pedal around the Dauphine while baby-sitting Aru.

Great win by Ion, glad to see him in such great form. Castroviejo and Valverde did pretty well themselves.

Roche wins Irish ITT championship from Eddie Dunbar and Ryan Mullen. Nice pick up after the disapointment of being left out of the tour squad .

Alex Dowsett has taken his 5th British national title.

it was like a penalty kick without goalie for him
I've just checked the results and apart from Dowsett, there is not even one rider I've heard about before.

Why is there so little interest among top British riders to participate in national ITT championship?

EDIT: I've heard about Andrew Tennant. So that's two. :)

In Portugal Rui Costa and Tiago Machado are out of the Road Nats .

:(

I was hopping that, without rui costa present, machado would finally win the national championship.

Will now be cheering for Zé so we can see that jersey racking dem Vuelta stages.

Maybe the course is much harder for him, but definitely i would love to see Zé win, o maybe André Cardoso could be awesome too
Nobody wants to see the NC jersey at the Volta?

Don't know, slightly surprised Froome didn't work out his new Bolide.

Roche looks very thin ....maybe not getting the Tour spot has spured him into upping his game
He won by quite a margin to Dunbar & Mullen

And IMO the bigger story is how anonymous Mullen has been this year, and at this race most surprisingly of all.

A bad result for Mullen though. If he's stepping up as a TT rider he should not lose to Roche and he certainly shouldn't be losing to child climbing midget Dunbar.

There's little interest because most of them know that Dowsett will kill them no matter what they do and the few who think they can compete with him know that they would have to peak for a race they don't really care about.

Only if it is Joni Brandão wearing it. Which is the most likely outcome anyway.

Am I the only one hopping that the FDJ riders win their respective national championships?

They have the best jerseys. Just imagine morabito or reichembach with a full red jersey and a white cross in the middle.

The course was the same for both the Elites and the U23s?

Mullen posted his personal best last night

http://www.stickybottle.com/coaching/ryan-mullens-personal-best-data-from-national-tt-champs/

Just goes to show how well Roche is going

Plus what a talent Dunbar is .....if he would only reign in the 100K solo breaaways

Anyway its hard stepping up to the WT ...Mullen may need tiem to find his legs
