My overwhelming feeling today was the same feeling I had in September: sloppy football. That's not to say that I wasn't entertained while wondering WTF. The last part of the 4th Q and OT were pretty exciting in AZ. I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

Is Palmer's head out of his backside now? He was really trying to go 0-3 in the playoffs. The Pats looked better with their receivers back. Rodgers has a crazy strong arm!

The officiating has been very poor all year, and something needs to be done.

What do you guys thought about Amendola's hit? It was much dirtier than Burficts or Shaziers imo. One of the most ridiculous (in a negative way) things I've ever seen on a football field. They should really suspend him for that.

Equally dirty to Shaz, slightly less so than Berf. He got the penalty, and he should get about a $30K fine. He is "a good guy" in the eyes of many, and his hustle can not be denied, but he does cheap/dirty stuff every game.

Even if the league suspends him, he would appeal and be able to play the rest of this season. He wouldn't get three like Berf because it was strike six for him.

I think Aaron Rodgers has the strongest throwing arm in NFL history. It seems like he doesn't really need a huge take back or a reload to heave a hail mary. Guy's unreal. Happy for the Palmer though. He deserves it after 7 years of no playoffs and a season ending injury last season which effectively derailed Arizona's chances in the postseason.

p.s. what's up with the referees and coin tosses/coin toss confusion this season??

A lot of buzz around the www about rules and poor officiating. Number one on the rule change list for me: the "catch rule" needs to be replaced/simplified. I could type for too long about that so I'll just leave it at that for now.

One of the best games I've ever seen! But I was struck with one thought when it was finally over: The NFL needs to change the OT rules, at least for the playoffs, to where each team gets to touch the ball once. When the NFL finally got rid of sudden death OT, they did this, but for some reason they changed it to where a TD ends OT. To see that shot of Aaron Rodgers, standing on the sideline after the Cards scored the TD in OT, and never getting a chance to even touch the ball, it's not right.

As to the "ruled a catch" play, I fully agree. It needs to go back to where if a guy has both hands on the ball in control, and both feet on the ground, it's a catch. That's what I think anyway.

Great win for Palmer, by the way. He didn't play great, and had some bad throws, but when the chips were down he rose up. Glad to see the monkey off his back.

As to the Amendola hit, he's never been considered a dirty player, and noted today he felt back about hurting the guy, but they were coached to play that way. This may be true, but it sucks considering it amounted to a 2 yard penalty.

"We’re coached to do that. It’s a big play if I block that guy and the ball bounces in the end zone. We get the ball on the 20-yard line, so it’s a big play in the game, big play for field position."

No offense intended towards anyone, but I'm really enjoying this beat down. I felt that the Hawks have been riding their luck for too long, and thought they would lose this, but certainly no one could have imagined this kind of score - now 31-0 with still plenty of time before HT.

I think that was what SE was saying in the first half.

For sure it is a beat down. So far. But, the Bills once came back from a 31-0 deficit to win a playoff game. And 3 people have also won $325 million each by splitting a power ball jackpot. So like a snowball's chance.

Carolina came to play.

It was actually 35-3.

Remember that CAR blew a 35-7 lead near the end of the 3d quarter vs. the Giants this season. NY scored four TDs to tie it before CAR won on a FG at the end. The Panthers may have issues about getting too confident when they have a big lead.

That long FG SE missed at the end of the first half looms large now.

Wrt to the OT game, I'm a little surprised GB didn't go for two after they tied the game in regulation. There is about a 50/50 chance of making it, about the same as winning the game in OT.

Here's a wild-a$$ suggestion. When a team scores a tying TD on the last play of the game, make a rule that they have to go for two. That will eliminate the need for OT, and as just noted, the chances of winning are about the same. Granted, this is a very rare situation. If there's even a few seconds left on the clock, the other team is going to want the ball,as they have at least a little chance of scoring.

If GB had won that game, it would have been the third game this postseason that a team lost after having about a 95% chance of winning the game.

P.S. - Take the FG, SE! You need another score, anyway. The Raiders did this in a championship game vs. the Steelers once. OK, I see they did. Just following this on the internet.

Raiders did this when trailing 16-7 late in the 4th quarter. They then recovered the onside kick and made it really interesting, but came up short.

My lord these Panthers know how to almost give me a heart attack. I suppose they've done it several times already this season so I don't see why tonight should be any different. As much as I dislike them i have to give credit to the Hawks for that 2nd half.

Delighted to hold on for a huge W!

Realistically though, the win was never in doubt. Yes Seahawks had a great 2nd half but they were always at least 1 if not 2 miracles away from actually getting back on.

Seattle had too much to make up. Nice comeback though. Rodgers and Wilson were impressive in losing sides. Carolina seemed to go to sleep in the third quarter and Seattle sensed a change in the momentum. Cardinals and Panthers should be good although I would have preferred it as the Superbowl game.

I couldn't understand GB not going for the two either.

Yes I agree the Panthers were always 1 play ahead so the Hawks needed a moment of Magic, but this is playoff football and miracles do happen. That last hour was not comfortable viewing for me.
