Falcons have some depth, and a real defense. But, is Desmond Riddler really going to lead that team to a division title?

If anything is going to save Russell Wilson it may be the Broncos defense. They looked good most of last year, and looked quite good in the preseason. I'm not saying their defense will make Wilson play like he did in 2019, it just means their D can keep them in games, and Wilson can slightly improve from last year's disaster, and Dilfer them to a few more wins, keeping his job. There's a LOT of ink out there on him, his comeback, how all these things - Payton, Davis, are going to wipe away last year (and his fading in Seattle) and return him to hall of fame form, but it looks like smoke and mirrors to me.

I watched too many preseason games and highlights. The teams that look most ready to play well coming out of the gate are: Pittsburgh, KC, Jacksonville, and Seattle. All four of them looked like they are ready to go, everyone on the same page, well coached, well organized, very few questions surrounding the team at any level.

I of course expect SF, Dallas, Philly, Cincy and Buffalo to win quite a few games, they just didn't show me enough cards. Similar with Detroit, Miami, NO and Baltimore, which barely played any starters it seemed, but looked okay.

For much of the preseason Washington, Green Bay, the Chargers and Raiders looked good, but the only team there I expect to make the playoff is LA. The others may be a mirage, or may actually be decent, it's hard to tell.

Only three more days until the opener
I hope for a good game. Lions were on fire offensively while burnt crisps on defense. They made a lot of acquisitions to get better and play hard under Campbell. Chiefs and Reid are going to be an offensive powerhouse with the “bye” per usual, one just has to hope the Lions can keep up. This is either going to look like a genius opening game or a complete failure.

Yeah...and let the circus acts begin. Lol.

I'm already sick of the hype of the Jets-Bills Monday night opener. It seems like every other commercial on ESPN the game is promoted ad nuseam. It better be a good game & Jets led by the messiah better beat the Bills or I'm going to LMAO so loud you guys in the UK will hear me! In fact, if the Jets don't make it the SB, I'm going to consider their season & the acquisition of Rodgers a complete & colossal failure!

I've rethinked my position on this & I don't think Wilson is a bust simply for the fact that he hasn't played enough. In 2 seasons, he's  only started 14 games - he missed 3 games his rookie year & 4 games last year due to injuries. 14 game starts in 2 seasons is a joke & the Jets pull the trigger on him & bring in "I want everything my way" Rodgers. Lol. Pass on Rodgers & give Wilson another chance to play & get that ever so valuable game experience. Salah could have brought in a veteran journeyman backup and/or a good QB coach to work with him. Wilson sitting bench cheerleading Rodgers doesn't do crap for his development (and you even said Alpe that Rodgers is not there to mentor to Wilson nor would he care anything about helping Wilson's development).

SB or bust for the Jets & the Great Rodgers....

Are the Jets a better team than the Green Bay team Rodgers had during his last two MVP seasons ? No. And that was in the NFC. Now he has to do it in the AFC. The 49ers have knocked him out of the playoffs three times in the NFC And last time they did it without the offense scoring a TD !

Obviously Jet's ownership believes they're better than those GB teams - it's ownership that has said they're one QB away from the SB.

So, let them put their money where their mouth is. They don't want to be patient & work in developing Wilson - they're putting all their eggs into one basket with Rodgers. And just making the playoffs with a QB of that caliber & resume is no big deal. It's like kissing your sister- it doesn't mean much. Rodgers is a SB MVP, 2xMVP & future HOF - so the bar would be set for the SB...nothing less.

The jets organization is treating Rodgers like a Superhero - so he better perform like one week in & week out (at least 14 wins & division title). There's no margin of error for him & Salah's job will be on the line.

But isn't that how they are hyping it themselves? The Jets, plus the NY media center? They finally have The Man, and he will lead them to the promised land! Believe it!!! Oh, if they don't get there, they will all say "next year", but there is little wick left on the Rodgers candle. It's a Super Bowl win in two years, and this year is a far better opportunity than next. If he doesn't at least get them there in two years, with an impressive playoff run this year, the signing will be a total failure.

But that would have been like a rebuild, or at least re-tool. The Jets organization, ownership, fans are sick of rebuilding every other year, or a perpetual rebuild. You have two meddling owners (brothers) and a nearly invisible GM in Joe Douglas who hasn't managed to build anything in many, many seasons. Then blame and fire the coach, trade a few players every couple years. So now, it's all on on Rodgers. Every chip is now on the table.

Good point on (Zach) Wilson not having enough games under his belt, but I'm not sure this is or ever was the org for him to develop. And you have admitted he was drafted way too high. But we may never know if he could pan out at this point. I posted before he did look good in this preseason. Very comfortable. But likely because he had zero pressure, and was playing with a lot of 2nd, 3rd, 4th string guys. But the next two years of his career could be like purgatory, unless someone takes a flyer on him after this season. Few players at any position recover from such a situation.

The Jets defense is probably better. In every other way the Packers were likely better. Better OL, better running game. More stability as an organization, and in the coaching system. So you are correct, the answer is no. If this Jets team is better than the 2020 or 2021 Packers though I'd need someone to prove that to me. And the only way that's going to happen is if the Jets make an impressive, deep playoff run this year.

Those 2020 and 2021 seasons in GB had to have been heartbreak for Rodgers. Both times they were the #1 seed, and both times lost at home. In 2020 they lost to Tampa after falling behind. But Rodgers made some impressive throws and put up great numbers against a superb Tampa defense. They just couldn't get into the end zone in 4Q after giving up too many points, and there was that controversy of sorts where instead of going for it on 4th down to take the lead, GB kicked the FG late, then Brady and TB ran down the clock. 2021 was maybe more painful in the loss to SF, as the Packers jumped off to a lead, but their special teams let a FG get blocked then a blocked punt. Garappolo and the SF offense ground out just enough yards late to seal the win.

Going back to Nomad's post, I think if the Jets suffer two season ending losses like these games, it will be doom for them.

If Rodgers doesn’t just hyper focus on Adams in those two loses, especially the Niners, they most likely win. The majority of the time he was in “f it Adams is down there somewhere” mode.

I'll take the Chiefs at home in a fairly high scoring affair. Something like 33-27.

A lot of hype surrounding the Lions. They may indeed win that division, but honestly they look like a 10-7 team to me, while KC still looks like a 13-4 team headed for a deep playoff run. Even if Kelce doesn't play, the Lions need to find ways to consistently cover Valdez-Scantling, Moore, Toney, plus toss in McKinney who is a RB that catches a lot of passes, and Noah Gray has played well backing Kelce. Keep in mind, while none of these guys are name grabbing, they all have Mahomes throwing to them, and he did just that in the Super Bowl, and AFC Championship last year. All year, and the few years before that.

I love the reported request to Russell by Sean: "quit kissing babies..." That in reference to Wilson building his "brand" in the marketing universe rather than concentrating on football. That message didn't get heard where he got paid to play last time.

Chiefs receiving core absolutely missed Kelce being there as their safety blanket. I thought the Lions third drive when they botched the snap and then fumbled was going to be the game loser for the Lions. Both offenses were rusty at times but the Chiefs more so, and it looked like Mahomes and Goff could have been intercepted multiple times. But the Lions played with their same aggressiveness and ran the ball down the Chiefs throat and Chiefs pressure was nonexistent most of the time. Chris Jones is happy the team lost due to that because it makes his value go up higher.

And always good, Nick Wright with egg on his face for how much trash he talked before this game.

Nick Wrong with the big talk that is usually wrong. He also said that Lance was better than Jimmy G.
