So, ownership is blaming Saleh for the team's poor start despite Rodgers being healthy & playing. This should be an easy one to evaluate: If the team turns it around & starts winning then Saleh was the problem. If not & the team continues to struggle, then this is on Rodgers & the Jets need to move on from him.
They’re never going to move on from Rodgers. Next to be fired will be the OC, then the offensive coaches.

Wow...Broncos destroy the Raiders! Impressive performance by Nix.... Pierce better figure this out or he'll be a short-term coach looking for a job.

With about a third of the season in, who would have thought the Broncos, breaking in a rookie QB, would be 3-2 while the Jets with a future HoFer would be 2-3. Lol.
Agree on Nix. He definitely looks like he can play in the NFL. Broncos still have issues, gaps, but they are all on the same page, and playing hard with some consistency. Unlike the Raiders, who are a mess.

Here's the thing with Pierce, he has a few things going against him. First, the team's D was supposed to be really good, and they aren't. Granted, they are banged up, but they were playing average before banged up. Next, he was hired before GM Tom Telesco. Apparently they get along, but he's not a Telesco hire. Pierce was also hired because of his "leadership". That's not the same as being a great coach. Also, the players begged Mark Davis to hire Pierce, he was their guy, and they would go to war for him. And this is the result?? Next is that someone next year is going to hire Bill Belicheck. Like, early February. I also think there's a small chance Jon Gruden is re-hired for 3.0. I don't know that he's the answer, but I do know he and Mark Davis are life long friends. Gruden was a better coach than a defacto GM, so Davis may be thinking with Telesco firmly holding onto the GM title, Gruden could just coach. Pierce best shot may be to convince Davis and Telesco they need to do a total rebuild. But if Davis fires Pierce, he needs to start looking in a new direction IMO.
Be a miracle if Allen didn’t get concussed on this tackle.
Stupid coaching by McDermott. Had a chance to run the clock out for OT, when they had momentum, but they threw three passes in a row, punted, and the Texans converted. Idiotic coaching,
49ers blow another good 4th quarter lead. Seems to me the 49ers are edging closer to a rebuild.
Oddly, Brock Purdy is playing quite well. But their D has fallen further than the Raiders. Getting Dre Greenlaw back won't help here. Maybe there's a DC out there they can hire..?

No kidding. Someone did some quick math, the Jets scored the same amount of points with Zach Wilson as they are with Rodgers. But Saleh takes the fall. Maybe there's a team out there with some problems on D and need a new DC...?

One team is above everyone else to me right now. KC. Because they find ways to win, and have played good teams. They aren't playing great on offense, and someone certainly could beat them come playoff time, but it sure doesn't look like it now the way some of the supposedly good teams are falling apart.

I think there's an infectious winning mindset there that starts with Mahomes. His leadership skills & command of the offense brings out the best of his supporting cast. It's unbelievable what he's accomplished with that team at only 29 yrs of age. He has a skill set unmatched by very few in the league & a maturity level of a much older veteran QB. It's no wonder Reid isn't entertaining retirement anytime soon.

Whether Saleh would return to the 49ers as a DC who knows ? Bit early yet to be canning a first year DC and a lot of people are saying that Sorenson simply doesn't have the players. They overpaid Hargrave and let some of their depth players walk and also let Armstead walk who was their best run stopper when fit. Floyd hasn't done much, Hufanga has done little since his return, Bosa isn't what he was since he got paid. Why they drafted a WR in the first round is anyone's guess when the O line and defense was the biggest issue and still is. Losing CMC seems to have had a big effect on their ability to close out games even though Mason has done well at RB but his fumble against the Cards was bad timing. They pick it up in the next few games or their playoffs chances are done especially with the remaining schedule they have.Three losses have all been close and games they should have won or could have won at least with the two divisional games. Bad signs when the Rams only win has been against the 49ers and they were missing Kupp and Nacua.

You just knew that Saleh was a dead man walking when Rodgers started his usual media whine. Jets still have a good defense as far as ratings go. Saleh is probably better off out of there.

Mahomes is like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers mixed together. He’s doing things Brady didn’t start doing till 2007 really while still maintaining the drive, focus, commitment, and leadership that he had at the start of Brady’s career mixed in with Rodgers talent without the vast majority of Rodgers downside. Add in a clutch kicker, a reliable tight end, and the elite defense. Defense knows they just have to keep it close and they most likely win. Offense can’t just shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers, mistakes, and penalties.

I wish him well, but I'll be surprised if the Jets don't finish about 7-10 anyway, at best.

In other news, it appears the Browns are going to ride the sinking Titanic that is Deshaun Watson all the way to the inglorious bottom. Stefanski said he's not even considering a QB change, while Watson has been outright terrible. Add on the fact the Browns had Brissett two years ago who played well, and teammates loved him, so they released him. Last year they had Joe Flacco who played well, and teammates loved him, so they released him too. Plus the reputational damage to the Browns as well. The worst trade, plus contract, in NFL history. Worse than the Herschel Walker trade. Far worse than the Russell Wilson trade.

Speaking of Wilson, since the Steelers have lost two in a row, do they start him, even though Fields has played well? This coming Sunday's game against the Raiders should be a win, no matter who is QB. So who does Tomlin want to lead the team?

I think that RW will get the start this week.

Looks & sounds a lot like Brett Favre. Lol
Funny that ownership, front office goons thought that a grey haired Farve was a good bet for the future, Brett was successful at sending dicpics but not playing winning football for the Jets, Same office goons thought social misfit Aaron Rodgers was a good fit for Jets after his public trial of GB Packers going after multiple aspects of the organization!! Saying he was insulted, GB didn't negotiate in good faith!! And in twilight, grey hair included they signed Brett Rodgers..ditch the guy already!! or maybe Jets should double down and pick up Russell Wilson, he's available for sure

What a mess in NE. Coming out of the preseason, they said Maye was far from ready. Now with Brissett stinking up the joint, they have no choice I guess.

NE was 4-13 last year - tied fo 2nd worst. At 1-4 so far, I wonder if they can better last year's record? And if they can't, does Mayo get fired?

What a sad state of affairs: A once proud organization & decades long dynasty under Brady & Bilichick, they've been relegated to the Outhouse with no hope in sight.

I'll be surprised if Maye plays any better. The Patriots are in the middle of a total rebuild, plus they have several hurt players.

I'll be really surprised if Mayo is fired. The Pats spent a couple years grooming him to be Belicheck's replacement, so much so they vetted him with the league so they could just hire him outright without having to follow the Rooney rule. The other thing is the Patriots are in an excellent salary cap position for the next few years. IF Kraft and new GM Eliot Wolf don't screw things up, and IF Maye's confidence isn't shattered and he shows improvement and looks like their QB of the future, the Patriots could be quite good in a few years, like 2027 maybe. But under the same thinking, if they start to load up the team with top draft picks, and spent good $$$ in FA to get some guys, and they don't show real improvement, then I think Kraft would have no problem firing Mayo.

Rattler actually looked quite poied in the pre-season. So did Jake Haener who was drafted by the Saints last year.

Carr has been painfully inconsistent his entire career. Right when you think he's finally got it figured out, he's finally going to live up to his potential, he'll make bad throws, horrible decisions. I watched it for years. I think playing in a play-action system where he gets rid of the ball fast helps. But I'm curious to see how Rattler does with Carr out.

Not just QBs, but the injuries to star players continue to mount. League-leading receiver & about 1/3 of the Texan's passing offense. Must be a pretty significant hamstring strain to go on IR.

I posted before the season started that it will be a year of attrition. The teams that manage to stay healthy, and especially enter the post-season healthy, will be who wins. Even teams expected to be average when hit by injuries, it shows (look at the Raiders). So far this (obvious) prediction has panned out, and I'm sure it will late.

But it doesn't explain why some teams who are mostly healthy - Cincinnati, Jacksonville, are playing as poor as they are.

If neither Cinncinati nor Jacksonville make the playoffs this season, I think you have to look at the QBs as the problem.

No playoffs for Jacksonville and Lawrence is definitely a draft bust. He's in his 4th season now & only one playoff appearance? Lol. No playoffs for Cinncinati & I think Burrow would be on the watch list for next year. Only because he has a 5-2 playoff record & did take the team to the SB, but it's a situation of "what have you done for me lately?" SB appearances are expected of #1 OAs. And Burrow can't keep riding on the laurels of that one SB appearance.

We can't keep giving free passes to these #1 OAs. They're drafted at that position to compete for the SB every year - not just win enough games to make the playoffs & stall out. They're supposed to be contenders not pretenders.

It's funny how these #1 OA picks want all the attention & validation, as well as the big $$$, that comes with being selected #1, but yet they fail to perform on the field. The last #1 OA to win a SB was Peyton Manning back in 2015! Pathetic.

Bengals defense has also been absolutely horrible. Only so much you can do when your defense folds and makes everyone look great to elite. Burrows biggest thing has been injuries and the oline.

Nice win for SF, both sides of the ball, and stepped up when they needed to. Seattle is a bit frustrating to watch. They look like most of the pieces are there, but three turnovers, costly penalties. SF gets 10 days to prepare for a rematch with KC.

I'm not going to downgrade Burrow, yet. He's actually playing quite good. His numbers are solid, #2 overall in passer rating (#1 if you don't count Flacco) and #2 in QBR behind just Allen. 12/3 TD/Int ratio, and 72% completion too. But winning is everything in this league.

Strangely, the guy with the most interceptions right now? Patrick Mahomes. Just one more than Minshew. But Minsh is much better at throwing them at the worst possible time.

Since I don't like the guy at all, Deshaun Watson is 29th in passer rating, and 31st in QBR. Oh, and 31st in yards per attempt. What a horrible time to be a coach of a team for Stefanski. Impossible to choose who you want to be on the field.

Ugly win for the 49ers after leading 20-3. Special teams failed again and now their new kicker is hurt after having to make a tackle on another poor kick defending effort. Geno had a poor first half. Too many mistakes from the Hawks and their run defense has to improve. Mason was a handful till he got hurt. Bosa and Warner played well and the 49ers did enough for an untidy win.

Stefanski will eventually have to cut Watson or risk losing his job. Hard to say how Chubb will return when he does, That injury was bad. Browns would have done better with Flacco or Dalton and now they will have to draft a QB by the looks of it or hope another good one becomes available at the right time. Watson doesn't seem to be improving at all.
