Agree Herbert needs to find the end zone. Chargers doing okay, but for $265m you'd think he'd be playing at that level. I heard Nick Wright make a prediction on Bo Nix, saying he's the kind of QB who can fool you into thinking he is a tier 1 QB with some dramatic plays, good throws, but he'll never be at that level. One could say that about Herbert. This is also the exact QB Derek Carr has been his entire career. One could also say this about Daniel Jones looking at his 2022 season. Or Deshaun Watson and his 2019 season. And since poor Danny was signed only to the practice squad. I wonder if this is what the Vikings think about Sam Darnold? Are they just waiting for him to fail? After all, JJ McCarthey, ready or not, will be their QB next season, and Darnold will sign with a new team (where he could be the next Gardner Minshew, if goes to a crap team).

I can see us here in a year, Darnold on a new team that's 3-7, struggling. While rookies Sanders and Ward are on the Giants, Raiders, Jets, Browns, and struggling. And people out in the football world will be surprised.

I'm sure Payton would roll his eyes at Wright's comments. Lol. It's not just "some" dramatic plays, good throws, etc, but as I mentioned previously he's playing like a seasoned veteran. His reads are good, pocket awareness is excellent & he's shown fantastic scrambling & runing ability. (surprisingly, he has 300 yds rushing averaging near 5 yds a run). And his throwing stats are comparable to Daniels. Nix has also shown some serious arm strength with some lasers over the middle & sideline routes. And he definitely has a good deep ball.

Keep in mind, Nix doesn't have great offensive talent. The leading receiver is Cortland Sutton, their long-time veteran. The next two leading receivers are rookies Vele (7th rd) & Humphreys (undrafted). Though Vele has received high praise from Payton making comparisons to "Marques Colston." On the downside, Mimms, Jr, their speedster, has not played up to expectations & Josh Reynolds, who was one of Detroit's top receivers last year, is nowhere to be found. And TE play is none existent with "TE by committee" with 3 no names splitting time. The running game is not very good either. The best back & returning starter, Williams, is struggling with barely a 3.7 average per carry. Scatback Jaleel McLaughlin is running better but due to his small size (187 lbs) is a rotator at best & can't handle the workload of an every down back. Audric Estime, a bruiser from ND & one of the bigger backs in this draft (227 lbs), is supposed to be the franchise RB supplanting Williams. But he's not playing well at this stage & Payton has expressed some concerns.

So, all in all Nix & the offense is exceeding expectations by leaps & bounds. And their 7-5 record firmly holding a WC spot at this point in the season is nothing short of remarkable. Granted, they have a top 10 defense which is going to keep them in most games. And the remainder of the season is looking pretty tough with games with KC, LAC & CINN. But I've got to admit, I didn't expect this kind of success with Payton breaking in a rookie QB who supposedly isn't as talented as the other guys drafted ahead of him.

Here's what Payton says about Vele:

Someone could say the same about Herbert.

Sean Payton can roll his eyes at whatever he wants, but he's going to do that no matter what, because he strikes me as someone who is all but certain he's the smartest coach in the history of sports, and thinks he's always right. Easy to see how that clashed so bad with a guy who called himself Mr. Unlimited and had his own office.

Keep in mind, beating the Raiders is no difficult feat. Probably the worst team in the league, if the Jets and Giants weren't such a disaster of an organization.

Three Thanksgiving games, plus a black friday game.

While the Bears and Caleb have played better - he looked quite good against the Vikings D as the game went on, I don't see them stopping the Lions offense. Even teams that have slowed them (Houston, Tampa) could barely do so.

Drew Lock looks to get the start for the Giants against the Cowboys. Which team is really worse? We'll find out! I'll take Dallas to win. If Cooper Rush plays anything like last week, Dallas should be okay.

Miami traveling to Green Bay. Both teams playing well. Green Bay needs to win to keep track with Detroit and Minnesota. Miami needs to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. It's going to be cold (about 25 degrees) with a chance of snow showers. Let's see if Miami can handle this better than that bitter cold game against KC last year.

Friday's game should be a dud. I don't care how flat some Chiefs games are, the Raiders are such a mess, with so many injuries, KC should win by at least two scores. While the Chiefs also have both Pacheco and Omenihu back at full practice, I'm not even sure who will start at QB for LV. O'Connell practiced, but wasn't scheduled back for another week after breaking his thumb. So it will either be a rusty version of him, or Desmond Ridder, plucked off the Cardinals practice squad slush pile. Raiders unlikely to win another game this year. Only two questions for them remain, do they keep Antonio Pierce? And who do they draft QB?

Expected cold and snow for the Buffalo/49ers game and possibly gale force winds. Bosa, Williams, Purdy all in doubt again. Greenlaw back at limited practice is the only good news and the only reason he is trying to return this season is probably because he's coming off contract in 25. Hufanga still out, Warner has been playing with a bone fracture in his foot for the past few months.Fans were wondering why his early season form dropped off. He's been taking painkillers to play. Can't see the 49ers rushing any of these players back for the Buffalo game. On top of that Lenoir now has a knee injury and three players are in concussion protocol..........sigh.....

Only saw the first half of the Lions game. I’m surprised it came down to the wire the way they were moving the ball in the first half. The fumble by Montgomery I think it was, was a big play by Bears defense. Lions have to ge happy it didn’t come down to that and their missed kick. Maybe Bears will bring Rodgers over.

Dolphins got absolutely destroyed and playoff chances gone realistically. They still can’t play a physical team and Tua didn’t help with the minor trash talk he had before the game about playing in the cold weather.

Was more surprised the way the Packers smashed the Dolphins than anything. Both sides of the ball. But mostly their D just stopped everything Miami had. Packers are going to ruin someone's day late in the season, and maybe the playoffs if the play like this.

I wouldn't worry too much about this game if I were a Lions fan. I agree with Tony, I'd be more worried about the guys who got hurt (and getting the guys who are hurt back). Did I hear right early in the Lions game they hope to get Hutchinson back later (playoffs? Super Bowl?)?? That would seem incredible to me if it happens.

Was there another game on? I must have missed it. ;)

I don't know if it's everywhere, but YouTube has had some pretty good game highlights, don't know if it's available everywhere (?) But if you can't watch the game it's great way to see some of it, lots of the videos are @10-15 minutes long.. Before when I was traveling lots of content was blocked because of market. So I don't know if European fans get it on YouTube

Herbert is sort of emerging as a country fair quarterback, he can throw the ball through a tire or hit a bullseye when he is just relaxing.
Add NFL defense pressure and he crumbles in most categories, he hears footsteps constantly, either hurries throws, makes dumb decisions, doesn't have above average mobility that should come w price tag. And when you see Baltimore, KC backfield guys, even tight ends are playing like anything can and will happen, strange looking shovel pass or QB impromptu open field runner. Herbert in a pocket is effective but nothing spectacular, Herbert doing anything else is reflected by Chargers multi year record with him as QB..
Herbert scabbing like a Namath, Stabler, Marino, Elway mash up without knee braces.. The old lady in Snickers commercial is better than Herbet..Betty White has more mobility!!!

C'mon, Herbert has had decent talent over the years. In five seasons so far, he's barely over .500 (37-36) & one playoff appearance, which was that embarrassing loss to Jacksonville. And there's that $265m price tag for a mediocre QB at best. Lol. But they have Harbaugh now to fix everything & make the Chargers good again (MCGA). So, a playoff win at a minimum this season? Lol.

Since you like to reference "Nick Wright," I'll counter by referencing "Colin Cowherd." Cowherd says Nix is the best rookie player of the draft, and a top-12 QB in the league right now. On Payton, he says he's an elite offensive coach, and on any given Sunday - minus Reid - he's the best coach out there.

That’s how I watch the games when I can’t see one I’m interested in. I think NFL is geoblocked. I don’t think Highlight Heaven is still around, they used to do stuff from all the games. I think he’s called Jackson Kruger or along that line, but he does reviews of games and has all 22. QB school with Sullivan does all 22 as well. NFL memes on Facebook posts games or news stories along with memes. Jomboy media sometimes does NFL but is mostly baseball.

Chiefs were incredibly lucky to win that game. Raiders had it won, maybe twice, with a slew of backup players and a QB coming off a broken thumb. Raiders gained over 100 more yards, O'Connell outplayed Mahomes, Raiders ran for 116 yards on the ground, and had 6.9 yards per play. They were penalized significantly more (what else is new), the last call being called even though the whistle is blown and a ref can be seen running in signaling offsides. Though JPJ botching the snap is the Raiders fault to begin with. The fact the Raiders usually very reliable kicker was 1/4 also hurt.

Is this Chiefs team, who barely beat the Panthers, got lucky against the Broncos, and were outplayed by the Raiders, really going to three-peat?
