Like @jmdirt said, a lot of sloppy football. Chiefs and Dolphins look great after the trade. I hope the Dolphins can keep this going and they’ve won the last 4 games vs NE. Packers disappointing again in the first week. Steelers and Bengals both didn’t want to win but Steelers eked it out.

Bucs were disappointing on third down with letting the rush get to Brady but they got the win. Jones had a huge catch and almost a follow up for a touchdown. Honestly worried about Saints next week, it’ll be a rough game.
Brady was clearly off on timing, too. Spent too much time discussing future things with Giselle, probably. He also lost his cool early on teammates which he should dial back considering his early season schedule made him the leisure player. Until they started going to Fournette regularly they were headed for a totally mediocre offensive game.

They were still moving the ball though, Cowboys just stopped them from scoring to attempt field goals. I would say his throws were off more then the timing. Either high or low. That he did, but Cowboys were also getting a lot of pressure. He also yells at himself and never blames the team, putting the blame on himself saying he has to get better along with we. Never they need to be better. I’m sure they’ll get more insync. Rather have this game to start vs the whole team killing themselves with mistakes and turnovers vs Saints and Cowboys the last two years.

Missing Jensen at center is huge for many reason. When TB12 got in his lineman's face, he stiffened up on the next series so maybe that tough love works?

No, the offense was that bad. The only time they scored a lot of points was playing against bad defenses, which helped their points per game. Otherwise the defense was helping the offense tremendously with holding teams to low scores and the turnovers. Mahomes’s interceptions were always there for the taking, the Chiefs had luck they were incomplete or flags before. Otherwise the offense was struggling, period before coming back together just before the playoffs. They had 9 games last year where the offense was bad to decent, not including some of their high scoring games when the defense had plenty of turnovers to help them out. It’s not crazy to think the rest of the division got that much better on top of them looking like they did offensively with losing Hill when he had been such a crutch player to throw it too previously alongside Kelce. Heck the Broncos with a better quarterback just might beat them both times last year with the way the offense was playing. Obviously it’s game 1, but they’re looking like they’ve overcome it so far. But this is also the same team that dismantled the Patriots week 1 and fell apart as it progressed and got field goal kicked to death by the Steelers.
But they scored enough points to win against against Denver x2, LAC, Cleveland & Dallas - teams that finished in the top 15 in total defense. So what if they scored a lot points against bad defenses - you don't think other good teams are not going to score a lot of points against teams with bad defenses? (KC's PF was 480 (28) - 4th best behind Dallas, TB & Buffalo).

And there you go again with that ridiculous "what if" nonsense if the Broncos only had a better QB. If owners went by the "what if" philosophy coaches would never be fired ("what if" the team had better uniforms, better half-time performance, better PEDs, and so on. Lol). The league is results orientated. Owners only care about wins - win now, win often & win at all costs is their motto. They could give a crap about "what ifs" or whether or not an offense wasn't as good as previous seasons as long as the team wins. You think Jerry Jones would give a crap whether or not his offense was good, bad or ugly if he won a SB? As the late Al Davis preached: "Just win baby" is all that matters in the NFL...period. And Mahomes is a winner: 51-13 as a starter, 4 trips to the AFC championship, two SB appearances & one Lombardi Trophy in 4 seasons!

Tomorrow night the Chiefs play the Chargers - maybe Staley will kick FGs instead of going for it if those situations arise again. But the pressure is all on him to win that game & turn the corner with team. He's got the big-time QB now who looks to be the real deal & not another one of these 1st rd busts. No excuses for him - he needs to find a way to win - no points for "what ifs."

That’s the point I’m making. They only scored when against bad defense and/or the defense got them a lot of turnovers. The offense was out of sync, Mahomes was missing throws, Mahomes was getting sacked, Mahomes was making terrible decisions with the team committing penalties and mistakes around him. Literally everything they got away with previously hit them all at once last year. That is the fact. There’s no what ifs, but the Chiefs offense was their worst with Mahomes last year while relying on defense.

You know how I’m right, because I watched all their games and struggles on top of Chiefs homer Nick Wright was saying the same thing. Just that they’ll turn it around.

Yeah...you're absolutely right - Mahomes was so bad that he finished as 7th best in the final QB rankings:

And since he was so bad last year it's nothing short of a miracle that the Chiefs made it to the championship game. Time for the Chiefs to look for a new QB in next year's draft?
Did you watch any of their games during the 9 game stretch in the middle of the season when the offense was playing poorly? Did you actually see the mistakes the team was making? No what, did you not watch the offense in the AFC championship game completely come apart on their last drive before the half and Mahomes give the defense three chances for an interception. Stats aren’t everything all the time.

Because if you did, you wouldn’t have know that was Patrick Mahomes at quarterback besides his number and name plate for the majority of their games.

Yes, the Chiefs finished 12-4 but they didn’t look like a 12-4 team.
Against the Browns the defense got two turnovers while the refs missed offsides and holding on the Chiefs.
Against the Ravens they played well with both sides having two turnovers. But Mahomes had started to show poor decision making on his reads.
Against the Chargers the Chiefs turn the ball over 4 times. Not on mistakes that shouldn’t have happened. On things that they always did, they just weren’t getting turned over previously.
Chiefs beat the snot out of the Eagles with one turnover, when the Eagles were on their downward slide.
Chiefs get destroyed by the Bills with 4 turnovers.
Chiefs beat the Commanders with 3 turnovers and getting 2.
Chiefs get destroyed by the Titans with 3 turnovers and getting 1.
Chiefs scrape by the Giants with 2 turnovers and getting 1.
Chiefs scrape by Packers without Rodgers and getting 2 turnovers and Mahomes throwing for one of his fewest yard games.
Chiefs beat the crap out of the Raiders with two turnovers.
Chiefs beat the Cowboys with 2 turnovers and getting 3.
Chiefs beat the Broncos with 3 turnovers.
Chiefs beat the crap out of the Raiders with 5 turnovers and low yards.
Chiefs beat the Chargers with both having 2 turnovers and HC being aggressive af.
Chiefs offense starts getting on track and beat the snot out of the Steelers with 3 turnovers.
Chiefs start hot and go extremely cold against Bengals.
Chiefs beat Broncos with 1 turnover while sputtering.
Chiefs then show up for the two playoff games and played like we’d expect. They carried that into the championship game until the last drive before the half when the offense reverted back to the struggles they were having before. With Mahomes bad decision making, poor reads, bad throws, and players making mistakes or getting beat. To end the game with throwing the ball to the Bengals 3 times in a row before it was finally intercepted.

So yes, Chiefs offense if they played like last year could be taken advantage of with the rest of the division getting better. At the end of the season I think they’ll either be tied or one game above or below the Chargers. I think every game in the division will be harder played. There was plenty of question on how they would and will do in the long run without Hill. They look to be on the up for now and insync.

Before the season, I would say they’d be a top 6-7 offense.

Yes, but not every 12-4 record (or any record) is the same. Because the reason you are winning, could become the reason you lose. The things that are happening that don’t lead to bad outcomes (the Chiefs almost turnovers the previous seasons before 2021) could start becoming bad outcomes. Teams become complacent and don’t know what to do sometimes when their bread and butter doesn’t work. That’s how the Chiefs looked last season, and that’s why with Hill (who was a huge piece of their offense) being gone would leave quite a few wondering if they can change and adapt. Because adapting is not Reid’s strong suite. You know what is? Preparing for a team with weeks of availability. Let’s see how the season and next few weeks turn out, because as said by many the Cardinals don’t look good with their missing pieces.

And further, the goal of each team is to win the Super Bowl. This is just a quick recap of recent 12-4, and one that should have been, teams that should be great, which had a great record, but consistently showed a weakness in their games that would come back to bite them and end their season prematurely when at the start they were heavy favorites to win the whole thing.

2021 Chiefs 12-4, constantly showed the offense being flat, unable to score, move the ball and turnovers. Finished the season coming out flat and playing terrible from the last drive before the half to Mahomes throwing three balls to Bengals before it was finally intercepted (two of which would have been pick 6).

2021 Packers 13-4, constantly showed Rodgers not trusting other targets besides Jones and Adams. Finished the season with Rodgers hyper focusing on the pair while leaving his other options wide open. Leading to Rodgers incompleting passes, tacking a sack, or throwing the ball away when he had receivers wide open.

2020 Steelers 12-4, constantly showed Ben couldn’t throw the ball deep and was relying on short passing, run game, and defense. At one point was 11-0 and considered one of the weakest 11 team of all time. Finished the season with the Browns forcing Ben to throw deep while stopping the run and short passes. Leading to short drives and the defense they were relying on tiring out.

2019 Patriots 12-4, constantly showed their offense couldn’t get open, run the correct routes or be on the same page with Brady, and dropping the ball which lead to incompletions or interceptions. All of which they ranked dead last in of all the teams. At one point this team was 8-0 or 9-0(I forget which). Finished the seasons with the receivers unable to get separation, dropping balls that would have led to first downs, and the ball coming off the receivers hands to be a pick 6.

2018 Chiefs 12-4, constantly showed the offense could come out flat for a quarter to half leading to no or few points, scored too fast putting their defense back on the field sooner which tired them out, and defense couldn’t stop teams leading to long drives and teams attempting to run the clock down on them. Finished the season with the offense coming out flat, NE consistently scoring points with long drives, KC scoring too fast, and which lead to the defense being gassed due to being on the field for so long.

2017 and 2016 Chiefs 10-6 and 12-4, constantly showed they couldn’t go med-deep because Smith wouldn’t risk it.
2017, For the first 6 games Smith looked like the run away MVP and they even destroyed the Patriots in the opener (who like the cardinals were severely injured and than had their only productive receiver get injured). Finished the season unable to go deep or sustain drives with the Titans slowly killing their defense.

2016 had the same issues without Smith looking like an early MVP. Finished the season losing to Steelers who only kicked field goals because they took away the run and short passes. Smith’s bread and butter and he couldn’t go deep.

2017 Patriots, constantly showed their defense would be the reason games were close with blown coverages and poor tackling. It was so bad that for the first 4 weeks the defense had to play very basic coverage because of injuries and the defenders didn’t know the other, plays, or signals. The first week lose to the Chiefs they had defenders playing with the other for the FIRST time. Not the first real game, the first time ever with no practice or preseason together. Finished the season with each playoff game the opponent going up and the offense having to comeback until they couldn’t anymore in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, but Herm Edwards was 39-41 coaching the Jets. That's like a string of 12-4 seasons for most any other organization. :innocent:
Even won the AFC East ahead of Belichick and Brady, that’s worth a Super Bowl at least.

So far Chiefs look like they’re struggling to move the ball with Mahomes getting pressure while Chargers are easily moving it. I liked that they took the field goal instead of going for it, while going for it on fourth and inches at midfield. I’ve been saying the key to beating the Chiefs is to constantly score and put more pressure on them. Touchdowns are key but if you get field goals every drive at least that should be enough with how explosive Chiefs can be. Especially if they leave trying to be balanced and go to their bread and butter in the big plays.

And again, Mahomes throws an interception with a flag for illegal contact when the offensive player pushes the defender down, nullifying the interception when Mahomes overthrew and threw it right at the safety.

Halftime 10-7 Chargers. Chargers have looked the better team on both sides of the ball. Chiefs MVP has been their punter, especially on the final punt before the half being 70+ yards and taking 17 seconds off the clock. Chiefs only looked good on their scoring drive and even then they got bailed on a bad penalty with Mahomes throwing an interception.

Depending on how the review has gone, Mahomes has thrown 3 potential interceptions; two to the defender and one under thrown on a deep ball.

And just like that the Chiefs win from a great throw by Mahomes for one touchdown and a great defensive play for the pic 6. Chiefs got lucky on 4-5 throws almost getting intercepted or were and penalty. Definitively were helped on their two scoring plays with the offensive player running into and pushing the defender down but defender gets illegal contact and not looking enough to overturn the other interception because you couldn’t see the players hands under the ball and if they came off. But started showing the same problems as last year so we will have to wait and see if they get ironed out or if it’ll bite them again in the future. Hopefully Herbert isn’t too banged up. Mahomes still shows he can score where ever and Kelce was a beast to not fumble that ball while midair and multiple people hitting him.

Entertaining game. Great play by the Chiefs defender to pick the ball and go all the way. Edwards-Helaire and Ekeler also did well with the run game Solid hit on Herbert when he went down injured.
Yay the offense was moving the ball well, the defender just had a huge play on the interception. You could see Ekeler was trying to signal he wanted out since he was tired but they kept pushing. On Mahomes throwing ability I wonder how long his body will be able to maintain all the different ways he can throw it.
