Reid wisely walked back some of what he said yesterday, stating that in normal situations a WR will look over at the referee (as I stated), but Toney did not, for whatever the reason. He also seemed to state that they need to get better overall.

Good posts on their running game. Not having Pacheco didn't help. And a RB taken in the first round in modern football has to be a very good receiver, and blocker, in addition to a runner who can get through holes and stretch runs from 3 yards into 4, or 6 yards into 10. Bijan Robinson has proven he fits into that mold. Many people thought the Lions reached to get Jahmyr Gibbs, but he's proven to be very valuable in that offense. De'Von Archane has been a steal for Miami (plus playing behind Mostert!). Usually you see someone who appears to be decent, though he may not have a star filled career, like Zach Charbonet, or Tyjae Spears who are contributing to their teams and that's all you get from the draft. All this from what was considered to be a heavy RB draft this last year.

Watching the Dolphin-Titan game, I'm going to now say I think Will Levis can make it in the NFL as a top 10 QB. His accuracy looks better than it did pre-season, and his first start. His arm is incredible, and he's proven an adaptive mobility within the pocket.

I need to make a correction from about 40 posts ago. I stated that Purdy should not have been playing when he got hurt in the Cleveland game (concussion), it was the Minnesota game the following week when he was hurt, not properly evaluated, and later confirmed to have gotten the concussion during the game, then threw two interceptions on the following two drives which cost them the game. There were questions the following week if he was healthy enough to play against the Bengals, but he was apparently given the full okay by doctors to play.

McKinnon couldn't even get on the field at the 49ers but the Chiefs managed to get some production out of him but they also use him differently. Chiefs offense needs some new blood. Edwards-Helaire looked good as a rookie but he fumbles a lot and is also getting injured a lot and Kelce is starting to dip a little which is not surprising after so long. Chiefs offense like the Bills has looked hit and miss all season especially compared to the 49ers and Cowboys. Their defense often kept them in games.
McKinnon has been somewhat of a bust, IMO. Drafted in the 3rd rd by Minn (2014) he was traded to SF where he missed two full seasons because of the knee injury. And he's not an every-down back but basically a pass catching specialist out of the backfield.

Pacheco is the guy (for now). He's got the size (216), blazing speed (4.37), can pass catch & isn't afraid to pass block. His rushing stats last season were impressive & he even caught some passes out of the backfield for some big gains. Plus he's a 7th rounder that they signed at a 4 yr/3.7 mil bargain blowout! Lol.

So Toney did actually check from a fan video before he lined up, never waited for a response from the refs, moved further past the line of scrimmage, and never looked back at the ref.

Just like Terry McLaurin last year lining up way off the line of scrimmage.

From Mahomes own words it didn’t sound like he was referring to just the Chiefs but the NFL as a whole. You can’t pick up a flag on an obvious penalty that was thrown before anything happened no matter how cool the play was. Mahomes is frustrated by the season and he should be looking at his own team. Like I’ve been saying their drops, penalties, miscommunication, and bone headed plays started getting worse when Mahomes started and has continued to get worse every year. It hasn’t been addressed because they kept winning off their Hall of Fame talent. Now the discipline is gone from EB and everything has gotten worse while their commercials have gone up.

This Dolphins game can be crushing if the starter injuries hamper the rest of their season while the offense can’t get out of their own way right now.

Giants beat the Packers on a last second FG, after a great last drive by DeVito. Huge playoff implications, potentially, as the Packers drop to 6-7, tying the Rams and Seahawks. Rams beat the Seahawks twice, so they obviously hold the tiebreaker. Still, a big break for the Rams, Seahawks and Vikings. Seahawks still have a tough schedule to end the season, with the Eagles next and then the Steelers.

Great find (replay footage)! I'm basically done analyzing the KC game at this point. The game was yesterday, it's over. If one wants to complain about bad officiating, questionable officiating, anyone can come up with a big laundry list of games, from any season. Yep, it sucks. I listed my solutions above, more than once.

I'm also reminded of the often repeated thought when a kicker misses a last second FG, and is leveled with blame by fans...without bothering to think about the previous 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

Good win for the Giants against a streaking Packer team. The Titans outplayed the Dolphins, without question. Great pressure defense. Will Levis has arrived.

Wow, Titans were far and away the better team but I thought it was over after their two turnovers. Completely manhandled the Dolphins on both sides of the ball, got the special teams block, and Lewis looked great especially coming back double digits and leading two amazing scoring drives. Dolphins were fighting for every yard on offense every drive bar their first one but they turned it over. Without those two turnovers Titans potentially win by double digits. Titans definitely have a bright future with him. Dolphins looked like the same old Dolphins choking games away to pair up with the Lions. Hopefully the injuries aren’t serious especially to Hill and they need to work on their discipline as well. That ripping off the helmet penalty was a crucial one committed of being boneheaded. This game reinforced Hill for MVP over Tua. They had the one seed and destiny in their hands and blew it like in years passed and looked to be 2-4 seed now. Worst comes to worst and Bills win out while Dolphins lose to pass them up on their final game against the other. Which is a Dolphins thing to do.

I agree with Alpe that who cares about a call several days ago, but I will add one thing in general that I have harped on for 30 years....officiating should be consistent! That includes not having 'rules of emphasis', the entire rule book should be the emphasis.

Let me be clear, that was a penalty. The issue lies in that it had only been called 7 times in three years, but this year it has been called 13 times already. That's stupid! Call it every time or don't call it at all!

One last note: I assume most of us heard Troy calling out the officials about a call that should have taken five seconds to determine, not several minutes. ""This is ridiculous what we're watching right now," he said from the announce booth. "We see something it takes five seconds. It takes them five minutes." Joe commented: "Tell us how you really feel Troy."

Seahawks need to solve some cohesion problems that GB seems to avoid. After watching them lose that heartbreaker I'm rooting for them to face down the Seahawks if they get the chance. Playoff brackets make it unlikely but it would be entertaining.

Unfortunate, I've always liked his style of broadcasting.
This just shows how crazy things can get.. Mahomes should chime in on the obvious unnecessary penalty on Al Michaels.. And listening to Joe Buck Troy Aikman ..Collingworth is not my favorite.
I think that Mahomes is speaking on many levels but youth and inexperience are 2 obvious angles. Be careful what you wish for in you up the technology, 5 or 10 times what it is now to have 80-90 % of the game officiated by computer, because it's a possibility. Offsides can easily be 100% called by a computer and a not too sophisticated camera and the calls will probably go back and forth between offense and defense .I personally don't want to see more infractions reviews from some goons in a New York video control room. I don't want a video review panel to determine pass interference or offsides.
There was a between the squeezing thighs completion called last night, but I could have taken it either way, I find the infinite video review in sports super annoying

Just another day in the NFL. expected GB and Miami to win their games but...........

Love looked mediocre and was outplayed by the undrafted rookie. Giants showed some backbone and a better run game.

Miami played sloppy including Tua while the Titans defense showed up as did their young QB. Hopkins best game for a while. Costly losses for both teams for different reasons. Miami had a real chance to consolidate for the one seed while GB are now sailing closer to the margins re making the playoffs.

We should petition the NFL to have a week with no rules and see what happens. It’ll either be so crazy it’s entertaining, won’t be able to finish the game, or they’d govern themselves. We can call it XFL week.

Offsides, 12 (53) men on the field, holding, multiple forward passes, pass interference, face mask tackles, roughing the passer...all legal. Sure, it's like The Purge for football.

This guy really went off on KC!
I'm going to call boohoo on the guy writing the article about boohoo! I've already stated that PM's reaction was WAAAAY over the top, but name one top QB1, who hasn't had one of those moments, and one head coach who didn't defend his QB1. That guy would also probably write something about players not showing emotion. PM, is far from the top of pouty pants players.

Roger Staubach? Joe Montana? Jim Plunkett? (Maybe the three most calm, level headed QBs in history!). I don't seem to recall Nick Foles being very flappable, ever. Drew Brees had every right in that 2018 NFC Championship to flip out, but he didn't. (Dean Blandino referred to it as maybe the worst non-call in history.)

But yes, what you say is true. Everyone from Brady to Manning to Marino, Elway, Troy Aikman, Russell Wilson or Matt Ryan - all good, steady players, showed emotion. Only a naysayer would bash Tom Brady, but one can likely find plenty of video clips of him upset at the officials.

Seriously though, I'm tired of reading about it too. I'm tired of reading about the Chiefs overreaction, and I'm tired of reading about fans and sportswriters overreaction to their overreaction. Get over it!

If we want to talk about the Chiefs, let's look to Sunday; as bad as New England is, they looked okay last week against a good Steeler defense, and could this Sunday's game be interesting? How will the Chiefs recover? And what about the hubbub that Belicheck is gone after the season, which he continues to brush off? He and Andy Reid are friends and have matched up well against one another many times over the years. If the Chiefs are methodical they should beat New England by double digits. If not...?

Another "Chiefs thing" to talk about is they have the most favorable schedule to HFA, but they are two games behind Baltimore, and one behind Jacksonville. Baltimore has to play both SF and Jax. But the Chiefs also have to play Cincinnati who has looked good with Browning, and are in desperation mode to make the playoffs.

Don’t forget one game behind the Dolphins!!! Chiefs have the up over them and Jags though from the tiebreaker win. In theory their offense is better than the Patriots offense while defense is worse than the Pats which could amount to a 10 point differential. The plus for NE is it’s in Foxborough not that that means anything since Chiefs have whooped them plenty of times there but this is the first they’re coming some and wins and streak. If the Chiefs offense struggles and Patriots don’t turn it over it will turn to whoever can take the most punches. Personally I hope Pats and Broncos win next week to make everything spicy while I hope the Dolphins don’t poop the bed like in years past when their destiny was in their hands.

Yeah...the gunslinger needs to shut up & figure out on improving the efficiency of his offense starting with the receivers catching the damn football! The Chiefs lead the league in dropped passes with 26! And the status of Pacheco for Sunday is unknown right now, so he may be out again. So, dropped passes, no running game & Denver breathing down their necks should Mahomes' primary concerns.

Manning just said the same about Flacco. Said it's his number one quality and that bringing him in for the Browns is completely different to bringing in a regular back up or rookie.
