As far as Gannon ripping Demercado... Plus he'll be ostracized by his teammates which is probably worse than the butt chewing from the coach.
He was actually being consoled by a teammate when Gannon ripped into him. I imagine why Gannon was extra mad is just one week ago Adonai Mitchell did a very similar thing. One has to think coaches show players footage like Mitchell's bumble and say, "Don't make this mistake! See, it cost the Colts the win!" PLUS, it's part of a key plot point in the upcoming Chad Powers TV show, as being a mistake that costs the guy his career. So, to then have your own player do it in the very next game had to be infuriating.
If they were to finish 1-16, wouldn't that be a total embarrassment for Carroll who's reputation would be shattered to the point that he would have to step down?
I would think so.
As you know, last season they finished last in division at 4-13. If Carroll can't better that by at least 1 game going 5-11 then has no business coaching in the NFL (and 5-11 is still pretty bad. Lol).
Agree. Plus on paper this is a better team. The Raiders had a carousel of QBs last year, fired their OC mid season, lost numerous players to injury, drama from Davonte Adams demanding a trade, and Antonio Pierce proved he wasn't ready to be a HC partway through the season.
If I recall correctly, didn't Carroll say that he wasn't going to approach the season as a "rebuild" but instead expects to win some games?
He did. He said they had a "win now" mentality. I think most Raiders fans interpreted that to mean within the 3 years Pete would be there, he would take them at least on a playoff run, but fans could expect improvement right away. I predicted they would finish 7-10, and if all the stars aligned, 9-8. No better. Right now they honestly are on a 5-12 trajectory, and if that happens he should consider retiring. Just admit the game has passed him by. Another part of the Raiders problem is Chip Kelly is calling a completely vanilla game. Almost like what you'd see on a college team of freshman. What happened to a guy who was known for his innovation?
In Pete's press conference he said he thought they'd be better, and still thinks they will, and winning will come. We'll see I guess.
