Raiders look like they could finish 1-16 at this point. I posted elsewhere, maybe here, the Raiders have a very poor OL, one good player in Kolton Miller (on IR). And their DL is almost as bad, with one excellent player in Maxx Crosby. Games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage, the the Raiders are maybe the worst in the league there.

Geno Smith has also played maybe the worst ball of his career.

Phenomenal Bronco game - had to be one of the best comebacks that I can remember, especially on the road. Down 17-3 in the 4th Qtr, the Broncos score 15 points in 5 minutes stunning the Eagles. Gutsy call for Payton to go for 2 when the Broncos scored their 2nd TD down by one with still 6 mins to go. Nix came alive in the 4th Qtr after an anemic first 3 quarters of play. Good performances also from Dobbins & Sutton. And how about that Denver D stuffing Barkley to a mere 30 yds & Hurts to 15. Hurts looked shell shocked out there with their running game going nowhere. A signature win for the Broncos & I think they showed they can play with the top teams in the league. The AFC West is going to get very interesting.

Welcome back Jayden Daniels - solid victory on the road. And what's wrong with Herbert? Trying to mount a comeback down 20-10 in the 4th Qtr, he throws a pick at the goal line? Lol. He's now thrown more picks than all of the last year! If this keeps up, I predict a change to Trey Lance. Harbough simply won't put up with this nonsense. Herbert isn't playing anything close to last year.

Am I reading the stat sheet correctly with Mayfield in the road win over the Hawks; 379 yds (29/33), 2 scores & a Rtg of 134.7! Plus 15 yds rushing for almost 400 yds of total O. No Evans, no Irving - is Mayfield bucking for "Tier 1" status. Lol. Bucs at 4-1 are starting off the season with a vengeance.

And the Buccs are doing it without irving and their number one WR. Should be a good game with the 49ers next week.

Another heart-skipping win for Baker, Tampa over Seattle. Tough luck for Darnold, who had an otherwise good day.

Miami folded like a cheap suit against the Panthers.

Impressive last drive by Cam Ward for the Titans who were dead in the water. Arizona folded like a deck of cards.

Good win for the Broncos, the Eagles looked tired as the game went on.

Washington simply a better team than the Chargers. Impressive play by Daniels!

Jets fall to 0-5. Gang green is simply cursed. Worse than the Raiders.

Ravens implosion is still the story of the year so far. Only 6% of all teams that start 1-4 make the playoffs. They currently look like one of the worst teams in the league, and have without question the worst defense in the league, having given up 177 points (20 more than the 2nd place Jets) over 35 points per game average. They are 2nd in yards given up to Dallas.

Good win for the Patriots and Maye was channeling his inner Mahomes/Allen to extend plays while Diggs was torching the defense again. Bills walked into a trap game with Allen’s interception, the fumbles, and the penalties adding up. With the Ravens floundering it opens up the seventh for the Patriots to get in.

Eagles luck finally ran out but that doesn’t mean they’re not the 2024 Chiefs. I don’t think they’ll get the one seed though and that it’ll be between Lions and Bucs.

Lions looked great and SNF next week along with MNF in two weeks will be great games. Thankfully I’m off for both.

Nice win for the Patriots. Maye and Diggs had huge games.

Equally good win for Denver who defended the Eagles run game well. Denver ran the ball well and Nix was also good.

The Cardinals and Titans both tried to give the game away in the most ridiculous game I have seen for a while with so many stupid mistakes. Cardinals late collapse was ugly and Murray said it was the worst loss of his career. I believe him.

Buccs and Hawks was the most entertaining game of the day. Mayfield is in career best form and leading the league in completions. Darnold also played well. Somehow the Hawks still lost with a dominant run game. A few mistakes at the wrong time was all it took.

Houston spanked the hapless Ravens who are in deep trouble. Bad news is the Ravens play the Rams next week !

Good win for Washington. A few costly mistakes for the Chargers including the hit on the punter which cost them a TD. But the Commanders were the better team especially on offense.

If the Chiefs beat the Jags (I think they will) they move into a first place tie with the Chargers and Broncos. If the Jags win they move into a 1st place tie with the Colts.

Anyone see this play? How this seems to happen a couple times every year and no one learns from it just boggles my mind.

Did anyone see the follow up? HC Gannon really laid into him. Some people are mad as Gannon bumped him, but this isn't pee wee football. Granted, Bill Belichick or even Kevin Stefanski would have just let the guy stew in his own stupidity, and maybe that's a better approach. But people who say Gannon should be fined or admonished don't know football.

If they were the 2024 Chiefs Hurts would have caught this deflection to win the game.

Big pressure game for both teams tonight, IMO. The Chiefs need to win & move into a 3 way tie with the Broncos & Chargers staying above. 500. The Jags need to win & move into a first place tie with Indy.

Most importantly though, the Jags need a signature win with Lawrence playing better. He has not thrown the ball very well so far this year. More picks than TDs & a Rtg of only 75 which is significantly lower than his career rating of 85.

The Jags run game has given them early season success (they're 4th in the league in rushing averaging 145 per game & 5 yds per attempt). But what happens if the Chiefs shut down their run game? (like the Broncos did with the Eagles). Lawrence is going to have to step it up & effectively pass the ball.

As far as Gannon ripping Demercado out in the open, probably shouldn't have done it, IMO. The kid feels bad enough about it realizing what a fool he his as that play is plastered all over Sportscenter for the next several days. Lol. Plus he'll be ostracized by his teammates which is probably worse than the butt chewing from the coach.

I think it’s a question of when, not if the Chiefs stifle the run game. They’ve been very dominate stopping the run and haven’t had a rusher go for 100 yards in like 30 games, while it’s hard for a team to get combined 100 yards rushing on them.

If they were to finish 1-16, wouldn't that be a total embarrassment for Carroll who's reputation would be shattered to the point that he would have to step down?

As you know, last season they finished last in division at 4-13. If Carroll can't better that by at least 1 game going 5-11 then has no business coaching in the NFL (and 5-11 is still pretty bad. Lol).

It's not like he's breaking in a rookie QB or has absolutely no talent on either side of the ball (and their draft class this year was graded an "A" - higher than any of their division opponents). Smith is seasoned above-average veteran QB with playoff experience, and he's got Bowers to throw to & Jeanty to hand off to.

If I recall correctly, didn't Carroll say that he wasn't going to approach the season as a "rebuild" but instead expects to win some games?

Good move for the Seahawks in parting ways with Geno. Yikes. I have them making the playoffs this season. They were missing a number of their key defensive players and when a missed FG and a costly fumble, they gave that one away. Darnold is good. If he keeps playing like this, I like their chances of winning the division.

Patriots showed mettle in Buffalo.

The Lions Chiefs game will be big. Lions could already be in control of the NFC north if they win, and the Chiefs could be in big trouble if they lose.

He was actually being consoled by a teammate when Gannon ripped into him. I imagine why Gannon was extra mad is just one week ago Adonai Mitchell did a very similar thing. One has to think coaches show players footage like Mitchell's bumble and say, "Don't make this mistake! See, it cost the Colts the win!" PLUS, it's part of a key plot point in the upcoming Chad Powers TV show, as being a mistake that costs the guy his career. So, to then have your own player do it in the very next game had to be infuriating.

I would think so.

Agree. Plus on paper this is a better team. The Raiders had a carousel of QBs last year, fired their OC mid season, lost numerous players to injury, drama from Davonte Adams demanding a trade, and Antonio Pierce proved he wasn't ready to be a HC partway through the season.
If I recall correctly, didn't Carroll say that he wasn't going to approach the season as a "rebuild" but instead expects to win some games?
He did. He said they had a "win now" mentality. I think most Raiders fans interpreted that to mean within the 3 years Pete would be there, he would take them at least on a playoff run, but fans could expect improvement right away. I predicted they would finish 7-10, and if all the stars aligned, 9-8. No better. Right now they honestly are on a 5-12 trajectory, and if that happens he should consider retiring. Just admit the game has passed him by. Another part of the Raiders problem is Chip Kelly is calling a completely vanilla game. Almost like what you'd see on a college team of freshman. What happened to a guy who was known for his innovation?

In Pete's press conference he said he thought they'd be better, and still thinks they will, and winning will come. We'll see I guess.

Maybe it was because Demercado has been making mistakes regularly. He had a few awful mistakes in the 49ers games as well but not as bad as that one. The early snap to Murray when he wasn't ready, bouncing off his helmet and the messy TD where the Cards couldn't jump on the ball and knocked the ball over the line for the Titans to score were just as bad. It was one bizarre play after another.

Wow, that’s a game the Chiefs almost always win. Their offense looked good and the best they’ve been in awhile while being against a top 10 defense and their defense won the turnover battle. I thought when Mahomes got out of the sack that was going to be them winning the game. Special teams and mistakes killed them. I think Lions will win by 8 next week. Chiefs should beat the Raiders, Commanders is 50/50, and I think they’ll lose to the Bills and enter uncharted territory. They’ll be happy the Chargers are beat up on the oline.

For the Jags that’s a big win and they over came their multiple mistakes with the biggest being Lawrence picking himself off the ground to run it in. When they got the delay of game penalty I thought then game was over. They’ll ride high into a win next week against the Seahawks.

Phenomenal MNF game! It looked like the battle of the dual-threats out there. Was that Josh Allen under center for the Jags? Lol. Lawrence was unreal rushing for 54 yds & 2 scores including that acrobatic go-ahead TD run at the goal line in the closing seconds of the game. And on most of his runs, he wasn't sliding but bulldozing over tacklers (he must be watching Allen running highlights. Lol). And he also made some elite throws there in their comeback drive at the end.

Breakthrough game for Lawrence & signature win for the Jags. Hanging 31 on the Chief's D is no easy task. If Lawrence can play like this the remainder of the season, I think the Jags can make the postseason & maybe even have a deep playoff run. Keep up the good work Coen with Lawrence & the O.

This definitely shows the benefit of having a mobile pocket passer that can effectively run. This is the trend in the NFL - even with big, tall, lanky QBs like Lawrence that were traditionally pure pocket passers. Just being an elite passer isn't going to cut it anymore.

I loved the interview with Lawrence after the game when asked about the thought process for that last scoring play: "Sheer Panic...." Incredible athletic performance by him saving his offense and great defense from the Jags. Felt bad for Mahomes....reason to hate the special teams must be boiling up about now.

That was such a crazy turn of events and something I’d think the Chiefs have going their way. It’s something the Lions would try on an actual trick play, and honestly they could try it at some point now.

And watching a replay, Chris Jones held out for all of that money to just stand there scratching his nuts watching Lawrence run the ball in. Literally just stood there from when Lawrence started to fall and slowly started walking towards him when he ran by the line of scrimmage. Zero effort play and something we’re seeing more and more from the Chiefs. They should call Belichick and get them into shape.

He got lottery money with that contract. And what's the first thing you do when you win the lottery? You quit your job.

Watch it again, and watch Jaguars left guard Ezra Cleveland. The Jags are using zone blocking, which means he's assigned to a location. No one comes at him directly, so he first helps his center by shoving the DT with his right arm. Then with no one still in his zone to block, he shifts left and helps his LT by absolutely trucking Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu. Then when Trevor starts to run Ezra piles on the down Chief players trying to grab Trevor. 100% hustle and awareness. The exact opposite of Chris Jones on this play.
