I think however that the web page shows that the Leotard influence is definitely there: the fonts and the "minimalist chic".

It would have been better had the QS logo matched, but of course they couldn't let their precious (crap) logo be recoloured like this:

Looks ****. Too Similar to Saxo.

I really like the new Lotto-Belisol kit. Styling is different without being over the top, and the colors work. Yeah, there is the small problem of the bibs not matching perfectly, but I'll take it when there's **** like the new Quickstep jerseys floating around.

I'm really hoping for a new Liquigas jersey. There kit last year was kinda bland, and they butchered their national champ jersey(s?). Almost as bad as Leopard in that regard. I actually liked Radioshack's kit last year and hopefully the new Radioleopard kit will look more like that one.

thats actually the first thought that came to my mind but then i remembered that he will still ride the classics with that kit . . . .

Let's hope for a muddy Paris-Roubaix

It blocked out the light blue of Domo-Farm Frites in 2001:

Hope so, but I have only seen one rainy day this whole winter! If this keeps up till April we'll have a dust bowl on our hands :D

i don't want boonen in that :(

the blue is too dull the quick step traditional blue would make the kit look much better

I don't think Boonen wants to be seen in it-- he wasn't one of the models for the presentation.

Agree that QS blue would be better choice.

Quick Step always had one of the best kits. I'm sad to see it go. Omega Pharma has a history of being involved with ugly designs.

I like the Movistar kit, but would it kill them to have a proper NC jersey? Thank you.

My hope is that the Italians will put their foot down, since they like their national jersey to adhere to at least one of the traditional designs (big tricolore jersey or national bands on white) and kicked up a stink about Pozzato's a couple of years ago. And that if Visconti gets a proper national jersey, Rojas will ask for one.

There were some awful NC jerseys this year. Leopard trek ruined the Swiss and Luxembourgian efforts and as you guys have mentioned the Spanish NC jersey was probably the worst one I've ever seen. The Movistar colours and and the Spanish colours just don't go.

I actually liked that Black Italian NC jersey of Pozzato's (I presume that is the one they weren't happy with).

no they weren't happy the the first design presented by katusha and iirc the jersey was actually changed. the black national jersey was only used on the 2010 edition of roubaix to celebrate the death/win of ballerini (sp?)

Best outcome for me would be the same NC kit as the Farnese Vini, but with the Movistar "ladder" pattern, in black, say, down the side.

This is the one they made him change:

And so we got this, much better, old school white-with-bands one:

Aesthetically I like the original one but I can see why the Italians weren't too happy with it. It does say Russia as much as it does Italy. I would agree that NC and WC jerseys should be standard jerseys that teams can put their sponsors on top of.

Although thinking about it Rodriquez's NC jersey was class so I suppose it depends on how its done.

Ya, last year was not very good with national jerseys. Hopefully Libertine is right about Rojas wanting to change his jersey once the Italians make Visconti wear a proper one(which it is almost certain they will do). It sucks because some of these teams could really put out some awesome national champs jerseys while still incorporating the original jersey design.

As an aside, has there ever been a very good Spanish national champs jersey? I used to like puritos, but it was a little too over the top, and I feel as a top cycling nation they should have something a bit classier with some type of tricolor design. It does help to distinguish riders though

Rodríguez' (and Gutiérrez', Plaza's and Sánchez's since they all had the same one) NC jersey did however stick to the format of a Spanish jersey (tricolore design, red at top and bottom and gold in the middle), but incorporated it into the carbon fading pattern of the team. Had Pozzato gone with the three bands, but the green was in the skyline form and the red was just a thin band, then I think the Italian authorities would have been OK with it.

Rather like Pliuschin:

and Kushchynski:

Similarly, if the red bottom band and bib shorts had to remain, maybe if he made the rest of the jersey down to the skyline pattern green, and then the skyline part white, so that it clearly resembled an Italian tricolore like Visconti's current jersey, then they may have let it slide, as it's clearly an Italian champions' jersey, just incorporated into the team's general aesthetic, like Rodríguez' Spanish jersey (and Brard's French one whilst at Caisse too). You could argue for the two US champion's jerseys at Radioshack this year under that too, definitely the best looking US champions' jerseys in years.

Movistar's, Leopard's and Liquigas' NC jerseys neither uphold the classic or traditional designs of the jerseys, nor incorporate them into the team's scheme other than as a jarring afterthought.

I loved the "OH MY GOD I'M ON FIRE!!!" Caisse one, but my favourite of recent years has been the very simple, classy look rocked by Marta Vilajosana with Team Valdarno, and I wish a male rider winning the jersey could learn from this one:
