I'm probably echoing the comments of many here, but:

I've come to rely on cyclingnews for complete, easy-to-access road race results over the last few years - your site has dramatically furthered my interest in professional cycling.

But this seems to be gone now - I can't easily find the results for the 09 Tour de Suisse, for example - and it used to be so simple.

I'd hoped that the redesigned site would continue to feature all the content of the old site, and be as uncomplicated to navigate - to the detriment of your readers (and advertisers), this doesn't appear to be the case.

I hope I will be proven wrong over the rest of the year.

Failure...

As so many others have said this site has completely gone to $#!t... it is such a shame to see something that was so good fall apart so quickly.

It would appear that there is a lack of leadership as no one seems to be following through on the details of getting the site right .. the cut-off maps and profiles is one example, the fact that the live reports actually were backwards for a while... stuff like this should've been addressed immediately. Where is the leadership to jump on this stuff? It usually takes someone mentioning it in the forums to call attention to this stuff (the cut-off maps is a great example... look haw far along we are and NOTHING was done to fix it...). Further the poor grammar that is ubiquitous in the stories, and live reports (some are OK in an effort to get the words out in a timely manner - but there are WAY too many now - it is a distraction from the race at this point) and on the site in general seems to reflect this lack of attention to detail.

These all indicate a failure of leadership... no one to hold folks accountable, no one to find experienced staff that will make sure it's done correctly the first time, no one to acknowledge that the whole thing has degraded into a mess... this has been deeply disappointing - and brutally painful to watch.

Went looking for results of the US National MTB championships, found some of them after some clocking and frustration. Still can't find CAT1 results even though there is link a link 'Cat1-Cat3 results'. Most of the results i found are somewhat disorganized and 'unclean'...

Yes. The site still sucks. There are many other obvious problems with the website. What a disaster....:(

Daily News GET IT UPDATED!!!!!!

You know I have been a follower of this site for years and I have just signed up to say. I could accept the style of the new site after a few weeks even though I still don't like it I have accepted it.:(

However what I cannot accept is the fact the daily news hasn't been updated as of 0800 this AM from today it was SUNDAY that it was last updated get it bloody sorted. This CYCLINGNEWS isn't it??????????

All I want to do is go to the day of the news and click on it!!!!!! I may not want to read about something specific just the news in general. It seems as though no-one wants to update it, or is it me am I just missing a trick because I can not find it on the new CRAPPY site. SUNDAY, SUNDAY ITS NOW TUESDAY GET IT SORTED..............

No there wasnt any update from Sunday on the news by 0800 this AM when you scroll down its the news editions as I said I don't want to read a specific story most of which appear at the top I want to read the days news. If you don't like me shouting then thats your problem.

It looks as though CN has had its day roll a-n other. I dont click through links on the site any more I just put them into google or yahoo to shop hopefully others will do the same so that people listen. OH and by the way it sounds as though you work for this bunch of muppets.

Denial of a problem:

Web design team: here you go boss, here's my report on our new website rollout:
the majority think it's really bad, slow and flash-heavy. we're hemorrhaging visitors. we've had over 1000 responses to the 'New site design' thread on the user forum, and most are negative. What shall we do?

Boss: Ha, what do they know? Only a thousand? That's hardly representative. Don't worry, there's no problem.

I know if I were in charge of this, I wouldn't be sleeping much. My paltry and uneducated advice would be to swallow your pride, and make the changes your faithful readers are making noise about. See my post count? I only joined this forum to post this... I don't think it's going to get any bigger.

Too harsh!

Now, a few weeks in, I'm growing to like it okay. My biggest complaint is too much Flash, and I don't think we need the Flash header, AND the News column as well.

Also, it would still be nice if race results had bullet points. As is, the text with links seems to run on in each listing.

Otherwise, I'm adjusting okay.

It sucks, they just posted results on the 19th stage about 2/3rds of the way through the live report. Thanks for the spoiler chief. There have been lots of other problems for me as well.

Been reading this since Bill, in like 94 and its a damn shame how ****ty the design has become.

I have tried to be open minded about the new design, but it has just not grown on me. Its slow, hard to navigate and I still cant not get it to work well at work due to all the flash. The result is that I have been coming to the site less and less. I can get all the information, in regards to race results and news, for other sites easier and with just as good quality. With technical reviews I actually have found that many sites are much better and less like a advertisement to what CN has become.

I am sure I will pop back every once in a while, but the with the availability of sites that have the information that I want without the hassles my twice daily trips to CN have become a once or twice a week.

My suggestion is that the people who designed this site look at PezCycling News, Road Bike Action and Cycling Sport News for examples on how to do it right because you have really done poor job with this one.

It will make no difference, it has not yet.

I pride myself on being open minded, willing to give new things a chance, and to not be stuck in the past.

Yet, despite all the attempts to clean up and improve on the new site, it remains many steps backwards for me. I used to visit 2 or 3 times a day and now I visit 2 or 3 times a week, reluctantly.

Who cares about that? No one.

After a long time not responding on this forum firstly I was busy, but secondly I just was so bashed up banging my head against a wall trying to help these turkeys at CN to change the website back to something useable. I think a lot of people care. The problem is the people that care are the users! the CN staff want to save their jobs, but in the long run I am sure they will be looking for new ones. If I worked for CN I would have moved on by the end of the day on 15th June!!!!!but these guys are turkeys and really must not be able to get jobs anywhere else, and now the first question I would ask at interview would be 'why did you take so long to leave?"

I think it will make a difference, but we have to keep this thread going, and build to 100,000 hits and a couple of thousand posts, so those who care, keep posting.

By the way, I still can not use the website, it still is rubbish...just get rid of the flash and show willing...please.

The new website is still terrible. It has gotten worse as the level of journalism is deterioriating rapidly. The tabloid level crap being published is not the cyclingnews of old.

If the plan was to hide sloppy reports behind flash, I don`t think it is working.

I only read one story a day at the most now, and most of the time it is not very well written.

What happened to Rick Crawford and the superb form and fitness section? Don`t try and pretend it is in the forum because it isn`t.

I still don't like the new site half as much as I ever did the old. There is nothing - nothing at all - I prefer from the new site than the old. Not one single thing. That's embarrassing, but true. Except for one thing. It's possible I keep coming back just to get on the forum. The forum may be the one thing that saves this site! Wow! :) So, I'll say thanks for the forum, the rest? Well, I guess I'll just have to live with it and remember the old site fondly.

I fully agree. 95% of my visits are for the forum rather than the news component of the site. And I certainly haven't clicked through any of the ad links just in case this is interpreted as tacit acceptance of the changes.

Anybody got the recent traffic figures?

I find it interesting that we have not heard from the CN team in quite some time. Guess they got tired of being told how bad the new site design is and could no longer bring themselves to drag out their tired, can and pointless arguments to defend it.

A check of CN today reveals nothing new of interest at all. Not like the old site.

The only reason I still visit is the forum. Thank you readers of CN.

HELLOOOOO!! Anybody there?

So the survey about the Flash box at the top of site indicated more than 80% want to get rid of it... do you have ANY intention of listening to the poll?

Hi Manolo

Great to hear from you. The only thing I check is the forum, no point in anything else. I always look forward to your posts, and know if I ever get to ride my bike down your way there will be an old CN website lover waiting to greet me. I think you are right in your post here, I think we need to keep up the pressure until they fold...at this point what else can we do. In the over 1000 posts there is all the information to reconstruct a great site, better than the old one with ever positive suggestion we have put forward. But we know these guys are NOT going to doing anythng, they haven't so far.

Same here, Pedro! It's nice to know there's so much passion around this topic, and you're not the only one who feels this way! Thanks for all the support and the continued postings! Always love your comments! :) Ah! Such a beautifully simple thing we had! So uncomplicated and unassuming! So "un-corporate" like! It truly was heaven! A little oasis for busy minds! :)
