I think, he's still good in chrono under 20-25k, especially in the beginning of races. But he rides TT really weakly on third week.

He didn't, he was 15th. Although amongst the GC contenders only Sastre (!!!) and Tondo beat him...airstream said:It sounds weird, considering Nibali won the Vuelta in TT and never tried to go solo in the mountains. He gains in time trials to keep up in mountains. Is that not enough to call him TT'er?

edit: Ok, I see your point now, but no.
Correct. You can't put riders (nor people!) into boxes just like that. Calling Nibali a TT specialist is just wrong, but not many would consider him a climber either, at least not a pure climber. Why not just call him what he is - a stage racer. What makes Nibali a GT winner and twice on the podium in the Giro is his intelligent riding, consistency, versatility and last but not least his excellent descending skills.airstream said:I call him TT'er for his very defensive style on mountain stages. It turns out that he is neither TT'er not climber then?
Dekker_Tifosi said:More climber than ITT-er. And a real diesel, very consistent but also limited. Most of the time he is very intelligent though, that's why he got so much already out of his capabilities.
His descending skills didn't really win him the Vuelta though. At least I don't remember him making a difference on a descent?maltiv said:Correct. Actually, if you look at it, in the Giro he won a stage last year through his descending skills, and then was properly cooked for the next stage to the Zoncolan. This year, he descended like a stone off the Passo Giao, and was then cooked for the climb of the Fedaia. Maybe he should just try taking it easy on the descents
airstream said:You understood why he did that? Just to revenge Contador for the attack on the last kilometer of Zoncolan? Nibali started giving back his 2nd place then. It may cost the title...
