The people believe what the press tells them. As I posted upstream, suing the press was an incredibly stupid act on Armstrong's part. Cozying up to members of the media and lying to them one on one was also a stupid act. A lot of members of the media will have it out for Armstrong. This Oprah thing just gives them another opportunity to stick a knife in him.

Sally Jenkins ...
She remains a true disgrace to her profession.

Is "Media Ho" a recognized profession? Looks like she'd be first in line for the Kool-Aid. I remember someone tell me Adolf Hitler wasn't so bad, just went a little overboard.... BUT he made the trains run on time!

The crescendo of 100 years of doping. What honors! Now let's talk historically about US football...oops, no problem there...

I know- just sad they're looking the other way about the "American sports" while condoning cycling since apparently is that "dirty foreign/ European sport that nobody cares in US"..........

I hope Travis Tygart's next assignment is the NFL or the MBA to uncover their dirt too...

The fact that he doped is common knowledge. The fact that his primary motivation behind his "confession" is to increase his chances of competing in ironman triatholons and not any actual remorse on his part for the damage that he caused in all the years of his denials, strongarm/intimadation tactics and lawsuits is a true testament to his lack of character. The only thing he's sorry about is that he has been exposed for what he is.

I agree with you completely, EXCEPT that his motivation has NOTHING to do with actually competing in triathlons, sanctioned or no.

The purpose behind this 'confession' is money. Period.

1. To try limit the financial downside, by trying to get and garner public support for his two cent offers to settle with DOJ and SCA.

2. To allow him to start back on the self-promotion circuit.

Mike Lupica's recent article in the NY Daily News, and his comments on the Today show, helped underscore #2.

Lance wants to show up at triathlons to peddle a tell-all a new book (It's not the bike part 2: It's the doping stupid) and get appearance fees.

The 'wanting to compete in triathlons' is a complete ruse. Just the latest lie from one of the biggest liars ever.

The degree of falsehood helps underscore your other points.

Dave.

That was a great show. Really spot on. Although I can't believe he let Sally get away with some of her comments.

Thanks for reminding us that we are dealing with someone who is an accomplished liar. He was able to lie convincingly enough that idiots believed his lies. He is practiced at looking into cameras and lying convincingly. He fooled idiotic reporters as well as idiots like SpeedBall. Now, the reporters have their forum for revenge. This is what happens when a sociopath is exposed. Remember, it takes a sociopath who believes the lies he or she is telling to be this convincing.

This seems to be the norm for these TV "interviews." The interviewer will ask questions in a firm tone, but allow the interviewee to wax on with their answers. It's a waltz.

Not only is Jenkins pathetic (look at ME, Lance is MY friend) but she is way dumpier than the photo on the WP site.

I noticed that too. In Jenkins' WP signature photo, she looks like a fit P.E. teacher!

So now Jenkins claims that Lance would have won even if he wasn't doped to the gills! That reminds me of Marion Jones boasting that she still would have won without her "flaxseed oil." LaDeeDa.

I caught the tail-end of Charlie Rose last night. Not only did Sally get the last word, she also invoked Marion Jones in her closing arguments-sad.

Anyway here's Al Trautwig ...

Wow, Al is a very simple guy..

Great presentation skills, not so great research skills, altho he's correctly all over Armstrong.

He didn't know until he saw Hincapie's confession? Wow.

Money really blinds people. Greg LeMond is so elevated in my eyes from this whole thing it's unbelievable..

Betsy, a complete bada$s...Frankie's very lucky..

She is pathetic but you can't go after what she looks like. That's just wrong..

And I will say that I was completely repulsed by that crazy b!tch Giselle Bunchen, or whatever the heck her name, is when she was criticizing Brady's receivers after the Super Bowl. Just STFU...That's almost grounds for divorce in my book...:D

Watch the whole episode. They spend 25 minute intelligently and completely eviscerating Lance, and then Sally comes on and she just looks foolish as a result of the previous dialog.

This is an instance of giving someone enough rope to hang themselves.
