That's largely because Voigt has been the perfect foil for the format. But she's now out long-term and realistically Preuß is by far the most logical fit.
for sure she is, I was more thinking about her usually preferring to skip a competition, if possible. But yeah, only other choice would probably be Puff, and even on that relatively easy, short lap she'd likely lose too much to stay in contention.

Perrot could be slowly becoming the best biathlete in the world and Fillon Maillet is back at his best this season.

I don't think it's that slowly. I'd be amazed if he doesn't win WC for next few years, laegreid is going to rue it forever ìf he doesn't win the overall this year.

Perrot could be becoming the best in the French team the same way as Jeanmonnot is the best in the women's. Braisaz-Bouchet is the fastest, Simon is the most dynamic in the range... but Jeanmonnot just gets the results. Likewise Perrot is not shooting like a desperado like Uldal or (in the right circumstances) JTB, nor is he flying around the trails setting regular top 5 ski times, but he just consistently delivers.

Look out for Isak Frey in the coming years though. He's more than ready for the World Cup but just can't get in with the amount of strong Norwegians, and is still junior age, but I don't see how they can keep holding him back next season once the Brøthers are gone.

Damn, the 1.5k loop in Lenzerheide has basically no climbing except for leaving the stadium. It might be flatter than the short loop in Antholz.

IBU released their calendar for 2026/27-2029/30.
The big change is Oberhof moved to March(??).
Am I missing something (microclimate) or that's a clueless decision?

Oberhof definitely wanted to get away from its old calendar spot, and towards February the microclimate (top of mountain ridgeline) is definitely more favorable with less rain and fog but there just isn‘t a calendar spot in February because of Worlds/Olympics. I think it will hardly help, if at all because March is really late in the year.

The real weird thing about the calendar is Pokljuka coming after Christmas instead of before every second year, but I guess I‘ll get used to it.
Edit: Also, in 2029, Oberhof comes only a week after Worlds because of the North America visit.

After their complete meltdowns in range so far, Norway will probably surprise us in the relays.
I honestly think france can give any other team about 2 penalty loops and still win though.

to make things more (or less?) interesting France decided to bench Jacquelin. Emilien Claude will start instead, who has not competed at this Worlds yet.

Richard can also feel pretty aggrieved being 5th in world cup, and not getting a slot.
