That's largely because Voigt has been the perfect foil for the format. But she's now out long-term and realistically Preuß is by far the most logical fit.
for sure she is, I was more thinking about her usually preferring to skip a competition, if possible. But yeah, only other choice would probably be Puff, and even on that relatively easy, short lap she'd likely lose too much to stay in contention.

Perrot could be slowly becoming the best biathlete in the world and Fillon Maillet is back at his best this season.
Perrot could be becoming the best in the French team the same way as Jeanmonnot is the best in the women's. Braisaz-Bouchet is the fastest, Simon is the most dynamic in the range... but Jeanmonnot just gets the results. Likewise Perrot is not shooting like a desperado like Uldal or (in the right circumstances) JTB, nor is he flying around the trails setting regular top 5 ski times, but he just consistently delivers.

Look out for Isak Frey in the coming years though. He's more than ready for the World Cup but just can't get in with the amount of strong Norwegians, and is still junior age, but I don't see how they can keep holding him back next season once the Brøthers are gone.

Oberhof definitely wanted to get away from its old calendar spot, and towards February the microclimate (top of mountain ridgeline) is definitely more favorable with less rain and fog but there just isn‘t a calendar spot in February because of Worlds/Olympics. I think it will hardly help, if at all because March is really late in the year.
