That's not really a response to Eddy's question though, is it. Why did you originally claim that Korostolev wasn't even the best the Russians had to offer? And what does "permanent" even mean, in this context?

Because he isn't, talent wise, at the moment. If you are talking on paper, fine, I'll grant you that one. Just like Norway's squad tomorrow isn't the best that they can come up with. Just like Nepryaeva Jr, isn't the best woman the Russians have to offer. There's 6-10 skiers that are better than her. Motivation pays a big role. The core of the Russian team from 2022 is hardly 'old,' but with missing so much, they don't have the motivation.

Also, it's a pretty small sample size to nitpick from. Hopefully a better picture will be shown next season.
