If by that you are trying to say that a cycling icon such as Baden Cooke is not worthy of the same sort of intense scrutinty, nay mindless idolatry or abject hatred as Lance (the King) Armstrong, then you and I are going to have a problem sir.

I will have to amend my monster post to give it the kind of throw weight to take that down along with all of the other threads that the backdraft of my post will take with it.

Perhaps the bibliography could do it.

I'm sorry if this the wrong thread I was looking for the Lance thread.

Just got this off Fox Sports

10 people we wish would go away

#2 Lance Armstrong
If you could just ride your bike without getting into teenage girl-esque Twitter fights with your teammates, you might not be on this list. But you can't. So you are.

Dang, when Fox turns on you, you know you are headed for the gutter. Sounds is if Bruyneel chose the wrong country to visit after the Tour from his twitter (he may live there, I don't know?). I am guessing the Spanish press have a different take on the whole Tour thing than do The Hog and The Uniballer.

Wow, looks like he ran a close second to Pete Rose. Way to go Lance! BTW/ I scrolled down the list of responses for a ways, there seem to be a lot of folks over there who could use straightening out. TFF?

Fox eh... they put Obama at #8 caption probably by Bill O'Rielly.

Personally, I felt slimed even looking at it.

Apparently I am known all over the world. Anyone have any ideas of how I can turn that into a home based business?

Opinion VS Fact

First off I am not necessarily pro or anti- Lance This response leans toward the Facts.
To Fulcrum: You're entitled to your opinion but try not to confuse it with the facts. If you look at the original Astana press release of lances return to cycling dated 9/24/09 it clearly states his intentions to race in the TDF. He did not sneak in after people got used to his presence.
http://www.astana-cyclingteam.com/news_press/teamarmstrongpressrelease.html
"Bruyneel and Armstrong will meet in the next few weeks to discuss the 2009 schedule. As of today, Armstrong plans to ride in the Tour Down Under and the Tour de France."
His so called negative comment was a statement of fact. The young, cocky, inexperienced (albeit talented) team member went against team instructions and acted more like teen aged kid who knows better than his parents. I'm sure he did it because he felt threatened by lance and his relationship with Johan but it was a risky move that he got called on.
Finally if you look back at footage of th tour and photos ( I have ones I took at Ventoux) you will see lance Consistently in front of Alberto protecting him (oh except when Alberto attacked when he wasn't supposed to.)

I usually wait for about 10 or 15 other posts (min.) to stoke this kind of fire before I back up my gas tanker onto a thread and shut it all down.

Most of us don't get more than 1 or 2 beautiful 'aerobics partners'. Famous people get to 'slum it' with a '9' if you follow the vernacular. It doesn't make me resent Lance, but it does make me resent not putting forth the necessary effort to become famous. One thing he said in 'Every Second counts' resonated with me. "If you want to do something great, you need a strong will and attention to detail. If you surveyed all the greatly successful people in this world, you will find a common denominator: they are all capable of sustained, focused attention." Danm ADD !!!

As much as I enjoy a sensible debate about LA - I think bringing in his family in to the discussion is 'out of bounds' - it also has a lot to do with why the previous thread was closed.

Oops.

Well, it's silly actually.

Team Time Trial

sooo.... is there a thread about what would have happened had Lance wound up in yellow after the TTT and what the implications would have been to the ever in-flux astana team dynamics? How would the race have been handled, speculatively speaking? I suspect there must be a 500 post thread on it somewhere (....and perhaps that thread could benefit from some of my so called
)

It's worse than that. LA an JB are running the cycling equivalent of the BO Chicago machine in the White House. They are corrupt and pander to the cannotabes. AC can, and Astana sheeples are way below him physically, emotionally and intellectually. It doesn't matter AC's IQ, he is principaled--think Joe the Plumber, if you are not one of the communists ruining America. And one more thing all male posters have missed...AC is gorgeous. Lance is, well, toned, but ugly. A (riding) woman senses Lance's jeolousy for a young, beautiful, talented, young Spanish rider.

You missed all the fun - I am pretty sure it was covered in the day afters stage or on the 'old' Lance thread.

Sorry Rich - I didnt mean to spoil your fun - but the last thread descended pretty rapidly after a similar point was brought up.
