I have 2 questions. Both a bit random.

Does anyone have the definite answer into what happened with Big George getting chased down by Garmin/Astana in the 2009 tour when he nearly got yellow?

Secondly - did Lance date Haven Hamilton after she split with Tyler?

Nothing to do with the thread but i thought someone here may be able to fill me in

Thanks

We aren't really supposed to talk about that.

And, it probably couldn't be construed as dating (as in any sort of ongoing/multiple occasion thing).

Does that answer the question?

Dave.

You might think it's cool..
it was Lance's MO-- pure power play to put Tyler in his place and rub his face in it..
and from her side it was pretty 'lowball' and weak as well.

Mew - i didnt mean cool as in cool that he dated her, just cool for the confirmation.

Thats horrendous from Haven

I thought we were all clear that the word 'date' didn't exist in the realm..

the rest of the convo is pointless
I'm out

Clearly ive missed a mile of previous conversation. Clearly Lance and her had a contretemps lol and for some reason people dont like that. Fair enough.

Now..... Why the **** did Garmin/Astana chase big George?

see Mrs John Murphy's sig from Black Francis and Frank Black of The Pixies talking about his high school dalliances.

Lance and Capital Sports and Entertainment Knaggs and Stapleton Austin City Limits may have even had The Pixies play there. I wonder if Austin City Limits had a pop-up face painting stall, and Jim Rose freakshow sideshow circus pop-up. (hincapies varicose veins, lantern jaws, simian brows, teeth straightening dental braces) I wonder if they had a Yellow Rose and 50 dollar tricycle Ride for the Roses festival and carousel and yeah, 50 benjamins per carousel ride for Livestrong in Lances pocket in the Carousel Ride for the Roses. I see a dovetail in the Ride for the Roses and Yellow Rose.

<emoji for: this post has clarity, coherency, proofing and editing, and cogency. you know it, i know it>

how was Tyler Farrar's form that year?

Hushovd was in a tussle with Cavendish for green, and Cavendish was on HighRoad soon to become HTC, and Cav blocked Hushovd on the run in trying to protect a few seconds for Hincapie, because it was so tight, the rider in the peloton that was in yellow.

Cav gets dq'ed, Hushovd got a few sprint points, Hushovd won the green this year on the back of Cav's loss of points and dq from this stage, sorry Dave, not Dave qua Dave canuck D-Queued.

I reckon, that Garmin were not stupid to make enemies, but George was solipsistic and navel gazing enough to think that the peloton should have rode (see: not rode, cos this day, they had to be slow enough) to give Hincapie the time he needed to be in yellow.

Why do I find this unsurprising for i) An American and ii) an American under Armstrong's tutelage, to think that this race in France could be about him and about him in a yellow jersey, but got bless George, he is dumb enough to conflate Yellow Rose and the maillot jaune, but George, private dances are for Austin, not France. They are too sophisticated for that hullabaloo and palava.

So, imo, White would not play into the shenanigans when he was the DS in the teamcar for Slipstream. Whitie is the boss. When Cookie isnt.

in Lance's defense, it did not have to be this MO.

Morality/Integrity/etc. and Cycling/Sport in General

The two are mutually exclusive . Sport by it's very nature of existence, is corrupt . The belief that one man/group is "better than" another is corrupt in itself , sheer vanity and utterly meaningless .

It's pure folly , and that is it's charm and appeal ;)

Armstrong and any athlete and human being no matter what they do, is neither hero nor villian, victim or perpetrator , evil or innocent . . . . . they're just human beings playing a role like everyone else .

In the end it was all just a dream

Edit: why does the BBC waste their time on this loser?

Page views! They'll get a nice bump in traffic. If they don't, oh boy, things are really slowing down for Wonderboy.

He clearly has not changed a bit:
...1995 ... when doping was completely pervasive

He was cleans before that... Carmichael will promise he was.

Armstrong reiterated his promise that he raced clean during his second comeback in 2009 and 2010
:D Cleans I tell you!!!

"There's a huge block in World War One with no winners, and there's another block in World War Two, and then it seems like there's another world war.

He's greater than World War 1 AND 2.

Obligatory Dodgeball reference:
Las Vegas. A city built of hot sand, broken dreams and $5 lobster. A city where you can get a happy ending, if you pay a little extra. A city home to a sporting event greater than the World Cup, World Series and World War II combined.

Wonderboy can win this fight. We all know it. Fight Wonderboy!!

From the first link:

(Armstrong says) "You have 12 jurors who decide whether or not the Postal Service was damaged to the tune of $30m. I'm confident that [the sponsorship] was beneficial to the organisation."

As I read that it struck me that there might be organizations that could support such an assertion.

Wouldn't it be fun to see Oakley and Nike called to the stand to defend Lance's assertions?

Not in a million years, of course. But, it would be fun to hear them say, 'oh yeah, we knew he was doping but we didn't care. Heck, we were glad he wanted to give triathlon a try because a doper like Armstrong could give us a lift with triathletes who don't give a damn about who is doping.'

Unfortunately, not in a million years.

Dave.
