re: Betsy Andreu. she still cops alot of trolls on here, and on other cycling fora, and Armstrong was none too complimentary on Oprah to a few million viewers. that is a pretty gross scale vilification.

IMO, Betsy is a very nice woman, who got tired of the BS she and her hubby went through, at the hands of a sociopathic, narcissistic, douche bag. She deserves all the praise she gets. The people who scorn her, are jealous & probably just mad because they still believe in Wonderboy, which is sad. Stands to reason, anyone in her position, would probably do the same stuff she's doing. She gets trashed for telling the truth? That logic escapes me.

Betsy's good people in my book. :)
You wrote a book? :)

Don't let the Cat fool ya tourweiner he does not hate on Betsy A.

I didn't believe in lance from day one - and I supported her for years - yet I take issue with her in the last couple of years - wonder where I fall into your narrative.
No narrative. I was having a joke with the tourweiner and blackcat. I thought it was full knowledge that blackcat has the inside information with respect to this subject?

Re: Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession

Came across a particularly hard hitting takedown of Armstrong and his current "charity ride" Tour de France shenanigans. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/07/07/lance-armstrong-trolls-the-tour-de-france.html.

The article mentions Armstrong has been talking to USADA, trying to cut a deal. Thing is, I can't see Armstrong coming completely clean. That would mean elaborating on his special relationship with the UCI leadership which would destroy his 'level playing field' narrative.

I think the USADA may be looking at gathering more information on the actual steroid pipeline (porcurement and financing). That is the only thing that hasn't been discussed in full detail in terms of the doping conspiracy, and whatever part Ferrari played in it.

Now that I think about it, you're probably right here. This is probably what TT has been talking about whenever he says that Wonderboy hasn't cooperated fully, nor given all the info he knows. Doubt he ever will. But he'll sure come out whenever possible and claim he doesn;t know why they won't re-instate him...blah blah blah

Steroid and other PED pipeline is 95% mob controlled. I doubt Lance could say anything useful that is not already in the public domain.
2 years ago a Canadian rider got popped for EPO and said he would go to jail before fingering his supplier. Sports federations or WADA could not dream of taking on the illegal PED trade, a whole other mess that could end very very badly.

Things don't typically go too well in jail for 5'-6", 125# guys with the upper body strength of a praying mantis...

We'll his supplier might not take too kindly to a digital probing.....might be a different matter for Lance though

I've been in jails in Scandinavia (not as a 'resident') that were more posh than most cheap hotels.

I've seen this rumor often, but have to admit I don't know where it comes from. Mostly I don't care about what people do in their personal lives, but given the relationship between Armstrong and Hamilton it probably is relevant. And yeah, I am curious.

Plus, in his book, Hamilton treats his first wife with a lot of love and respect. If it's true, did he not know? Or care? Or was it something he let go of as part telling-the-truth-and-finding-peace? Not expecting you to necessarily know the answers there, but it does seem strange to me that in a book where he bares a lot of secrets, none of his anger at Armstrong seems to stem from this, and he shows almost none toward her.

I guess it probably still doesn't really matter, and it is his private life, but might gain more relevance if she is, in fact, called to testify.

On this you should read what happened to a ship full of EPO that literally disappeared in Cyprus. Cyprus= Russian Mafia

On the same topic, it’s well known Lucchese, Gambino and Colombo’s family had the control of steroids and it’s in one of their gyms that the Docu Pumping Iron was shot: allegedly they wanted to Docu to be shot to enhance their business in dealing steroids.

Re: Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession

allright folks, Lance should have already landed in France. any news or complaints from newspapers and jounos?
well that could be also "any news or love" from newspapers and journos
:D

That may be true in countries where it is illegal to get them without a prescription or other places where they are dificult to obtain, but it is not true of the Caribbean and Central/South America. The only people purchasing PED's in those countries through any type of "pipeline" are idiots who are totally clueless and believe whatever they are told, for example like they cannot get such items without the help of a "buscón", which loosely translates from Spanish as a "middleman". This is where the price gouging occurs, cats who operate as "boscónes" are for the most part independant hustlers who have ties to hospitals, pharmacies, and doctors, something not difficult to do in the part of the world by yourself if you have half a brain and know how to talk to people.

I recall Frankie Andreu saying he waltzed into a pharmacy in Switzerland and obtained EPO because it was available over the counter. I would like to see a list of European countries where a prescription is not needed to obtain PED's. That would clarify the whole procurement issue for athletes who live and work in those countries.

As for the Canadian rider you mentioned, don't believe every story you hear. Cyclists aren't exactly the most street-smart guys out there, and for the most part they easy to scare by dudes who are involved in shady stuff.

Agrre that there are countries where the PED's can be bought at retail, but they are largely acquired through dubious channels.

As for the rider in question, he and a couple other genius' Quebec riders got popped and were asked to cooperate by the FQSC and Cycling Canada. The both took the 5th, citing that they would be in a world of pain if they talked. They took the full 2 year ban.

Disgraced global sports icon Lance Armstrong took to Twitter on Tuesday to question whether the leader of the Tour de France, Chris Froome, his teammate Richie Porte, and their team, Sky, are "too strong to be clean."

Here's Armstrong's tweet:

1. Clearly Froome/Porte/Sky are very strong. Too strong to be clean? Don't ask me, I have no clue.

After confessing he had cheated to dominate 7 TdFs and then spent years lying about it, bilked the vulnerable and wrested control of a charitable cause for his own aggrandisement, and stabbed a great many of his former faithful teammates and underlings in the back, I was beginning to think he was completely without scruples. But I was relieved to read he yet holds at least one principle sacred. Granted that one principle is omertà, but, hey, it's better than no scruples at all.

"Why am I not welcome? Because I'm a doper? If that were the rule, the caravan would almost be empty," Armstrong said.
"I don't mean the riders in this Tour, but in the press room, the commentary boxes, team cars.
"We all rode in an unfortunate era. But if you're going to apply a standard it has to be universal."

More excuses, more lies and desperation to regain some media status. It's interesting that he at least appears to acknowledge his status as the Pete Rose of cycling.

No, he gave his narcissistic version of the truth. Imagine this: a friend takes care of your house while you are away. When you return you notice that all the best bottles of wine are missing from your cellar. When confronted the friend looks sheepish and mumbles a few excuses. Doesn't really admit anything but sort-of apologizes. Takes you out to dinner the following week for "no reason".

Now imagine a different sort of friend. The one that when confronted starts yelling at you. Hurling abusive insults. Storms out and in pure spite knocks over a lamp before slamming the door. When you later see photos on Facebook of him pouring a couple of ladies a glass of said wine, he says "Yeah, sorry. But that other guy did it too. Lighten up".

Which friend are you going to invite back into your house? Jalabert is welcome to comment on racing. Armstrong is not welcome. Period.

Armstrong, like it or not, is the living embodiment of professional cycling. He is also about as far away from the ideal of an honorable sportsman as you can get. But pro cycling has no place for honorable sportsmen. They get spat out the back, literally and figuratively.

LA has a point, or two... heck, no, lots more... He said, once starting the lie, there was no way out of it. Makes perfect sense. I forgave him since long. 90% of people in his position would have done the same (he was on constant self defense mode, protecting his wealth), may not as rude, but close to...
And I hated him, called him a psychopath (may he is, don´t know). Anyway, he is far from his arrogant past.
