Close but no cigar for BMC. 4 guys in the top 15. Did BMC set it up for Hincapie?

Seemed to be every man for himself once they reached the Paris Mountain circuits, due to the heat.

RadioShack had McCartney in the early break, and BMC had Bookwalter.

The eventual top 4 bridged to and passed the break on the last Paris Mountain circuit.

Of course, I'm just going by what I read, as the "live feed" was most certainly dead the entire day.

yes, very frustrating...having to watch twits twitter all of the news was ugh. It did sound like whomever was able to hang in there and handle the oppressive heat & humidity were the top finishers...others were dropping like flies. GH just missed it again...in the shadow of 'livestrong'

What a great result for Busche, and it was nice to see Ben King ride well too. Two riders of the future to keep an eye on.

So Busche, who no one had ever heard of 1 month ago, can drop Andy Schleck in the mountains, beat Phinney in a TT and outsprint George Hincapie? Interesting.

Rumour has it he can drink more beers thank Schleck in one sitting aswell. He may well become the Jens Voight of cycling.

I'm interested to see if they bring him to the Tour to be Horner's shadow, or will let him ride his own race at the Vuelta.

Sucked in Hincapie, everyone set it up for you. Jks i love you. You had multiple cards to play too. Busche congrats i stated earlier he would win somewhere, because RS could send him up the road with B. King in the peleton. RS just had numbers even if they did not have Levi or Chris. Congrats. They all looked pretty zonked afterwards.

Numbers? They had 3 riders in the race today. BMC was about same while the ProConti and Conti teams had upwards of 13 racers out there. It was all about surviving the 95degree weather today...

Wtf is the story with this Busche.

I never heard of him before so i assumed when he dropped Schleck that he was some 21 year old taking a step up from Trek livestrong.

I checked him out now after he won the race and hes 26. Which is more impresive because you get people like Sagan jumping out now and again but you dont see it at 26 usually.

Richie porte last year and like Richie, i think Busche could do some good things in classics.

This isnt the last weve seen of him.

I think he could do a lot in Grand Tours if he continues to grow at this rate (won the RR, 3rd in the TT, and proved he could climb in California). He has only been pro for 3 years.

.

Like Porte, he got into cycling later from another sport. He was a runner in college. Went from amateur to RS in no time.

Busche is a very strong rider with tons of talent. If I remember correct, he was a fantastic runner who transitioned to cycling because of an injury. He has a huge engine and very high potential. I think it was Jonas Carney who discovered him and I remember reading Kelly Benefit where very sorry to lose him so quick. I think he still has a lot to learn about racing and the nuances of the sport. Obviously he needs more experience and I'm sure he will get that over the next few years.

He really animated a few stages in Tour of Austria last year. He was 22nd on Kitzbüheler Horn and 17th on Großglockner (Where he even led the front-group for a while) after Ricco, Sella, Pardilla and Ovechkin had taken off. Exellent domestique for Machado!

I am surprised he took Hincapie in a two up sprint though!

In about 2 years, Busche will rip at Lombardia and Liege. Busche, a natural classics rider, although weaker than Cancellera, an engine between Cancellera and Jens! Hopefully whichever team Busche will ride for next year, will coach him wisely. If the Shack closes I hope he goes to Liquigas! Nice combo with Sagan and the Liquigas Sportives!

that's a pretty good crystal ball there fella with the early Busche call.

Thanks. My crystal ball is also telling there will be lost of success at the tour for a guy called Cadel Evans.:D

I question why Bookwalter was in the break tbh. I personally thought he had better form than George or anyone on the team yet they put him in the break. It would of been smarter to have Louder in the break with Goerge and Brent being protected riders. It is a shame because they lost their best chance of winning a national championship this year.

He's certainly earned his selection for the TDF, best domestique since Ulle in 1996 anyone?

Haha...however since you mention 2009, that reminds me that Klôdi did a rather nice job as a super-domestique for Lance.
