That's a really good one, sorry i missed it.

Im only counting Beijing. But if you are counting national championships then Jorge Antonio does count.

I think Irish Championships don't count since its like one of three guys essentially, just like Argentina. What say you to Roche's Limo win?

Jean-Christophe Peraud: 2009, National I.T.T. Championships
Ben Hermans: 2011, Trofeo Inca
Dries Devenyns: 2009, Österreich-Rundfahrt, Stage 5
Robert Kiserlovski: 2010, Giro dell'Appennino
Hubert Dupont: 2006, Vuelta al Pais Vasco, Mountains classification
Jurgen Van Goolen: 2011, Route du Sud, Stage 3
Thomas Peterson: 2009, Tour of California, Stage 2

JCP - counts since the French ITT is a hotly contested race. I'd say Belgian, French, Spanish, and Italian races should count since they are the deepest nations. Maybe the Dutch too idk. I'd say he falls in the second tier GC category quite nicely

BH - He also won a stage of the Tour of Belgium so no.

DD - I'd say this counts since the Tour of Brittany seems pretty whatever

RK - Counts, although I have never heard of that race it sounds big enough. Another Domestique/young GC guy. He was quite impressive in the 2010 Giro, surprised he hasn't nabbed something else

HD - Tough one but I don't think a Non yellow Jersey should count.

JVG - classic domestique, counts

TP - I'd say it counts, I'm still ****ed he didn't ship the Tour of Turkey.

Giro dell'Apennino is a very good and difficult hilly one-day race in the Giro warmup phase. Kiserlovski won by being in the break of the day, and when Pozzovivo started wrecking everybody on the Passo della Bocchetta (cracking the likes of Basso, Riccò and Nibali, with Niemiec the last to fall) and caught the break, Kiserlovski was able to stick with him, defend the lead they'd built on the descent and beat the diminutive climber in the two-up sprint. Great race.

Sounds awesome, have to see if I can torrent it.

Edit: I just noticed this post was about Kiserlovski, not Kessiakoff. (You know what they say about people reading words by shape...) But whatever. :)

Original post: Nothing against the MTB circuit but as a road race fan, it's a shame Kessiakoff got into road racing so late. He's already 31 years old.

Daniel Navarro (pro since 2005) : Criterium du Dauphine, 5th stage, 11/06/2010

Volodymyr Gustov (pro since 2000) : Rothaus Regio-Tour, General classification, 10/08/2003
Ah I love that Navarro win. He was great that summer. Contador's domestiques seem to win a bit, Tiralongo this year.....Richie Porte in Denmark:D

JVS had already made the final split of roubaix before even tho he was working for hoste in 2009 but was silly enough to stop to help his team leader when fleacha fell and took hoste with him(also stopped pozzato who ended up coming second), he could have made the podium that year if he wasn't such a devoted domestique, he was far from being the surprise people claim he is.
I agree completely. Even more on an unpredictable race like Roubaix; every guy that has a top10 there is someone to keep an eye on. The reason why he may have been overlooked was because of the depth of Garmin's team.

Also, the people who think that he got some kind of "gift" because his own team mate didn't work to bring him back are mental.

regardless winning pr, for a rider who hasn't achieved a lot in regards to results is something special. Lombardy is at the end of the season, surprising results are not mind blowing.

So many riders peak for PR, its the biggest classic in the world.

???

Did you watched too much eurosport/big-george fans? Actually only a few riders try to compete it. Because it's crazy and a risk if you don't think you have a realistic change to win. Most spanish/italian teams and some french only send their worst riders. Even some cobble-fans as Greg van Avermaat and Gilbert avoid it.
You can argue it's the most epic, but definitely not the biggest classic in season-peaks of many riders.

Off course Milan Sanremo is the biggest in rider attention, but a little early to say everyone peaks. I don't like it, but most hilly riders, cobbled specialist and sprinters are present...

The only reason JVS won was because Hushovd Wheelsucked Canc, thus gifting it to him. He could have easily dropped Canc on the cobbles or have worked with him to the track and taken the sprint :p

Yeah, that's why Hushovd had this wonderful 2nd place last year ;)

I'm aware, but he was always forced to work for someone. Even despite his good performances no one expected this victory.

That's because he's from Flandres. They have the top, but also a lot of semi-topriders like Vansummeren for this race. If he was Dutch, American, any other nation, a lot of people had hoped/expected him to win.

I didn't expect him to win PR, but I definately didn't see him winning Jasmine van grieken at the Velodrome :D

why?????? I never got why people have said this. He's got a great sprint and Cancellara could not get rid of him at all this year on the pave until Thor gave up.

+1 on the Hushovd will never win Roubaix thing

Thor didn't give up, Cancellara rode away from him. I doubt he would've let him go knowing his team-mate was out in front knowing what Fabian could do.

exactly the he gave up because his team mate already had the victory is such a BS it always makes me laugh. he always fails on the later part of roubaix.

2009 he misjudged a corner because he was under too much pressure from boonens rhythm on 10 he sucked boonens wheel for 30k then flecha's wheel for 15 and out sprinted him on the velodrome flecha even clapped sarcasticly and that was for a second place minutes down on the winner of the race. this year if it wasn't for the moto issue he would been most likely dropped by canc and canc would have won roubaix. . . just a few k later he couldn't follow him on normal road.

unless hushovd has the major luck of both boonen and canc missing roubaix to injury or having bad luck like boonen this year hushovd will never win roubaix

Regarding PR, you guys are too results oriented. Going in to the race Hushovd was a favorite.

We're quite OT by now but this is the way I would've put the favourites (nobody below the line wins Roubaix without some major luck going their way)

***** Cancellara & Boonen
**** Hushovd, Flecha, Ballan, Pozzato
---------------------------------------------------------
*** Van Summeren, Hammond, Chavanel, Leukemans, maybe Hoste
** Hincapie, Devolder, Eisel, Langeveld
* Boom, Guesdon, Klier, Burghardt and some others probably.

Missed a few out in * and ** probably but you get the gist.

untill he gave up? hushovd giving up with his teammate out front? That would be a real nasty thing to do. You basically say Hushovd had the power but is the greatest *** of the peloton here...
You do not here from me that hushovd never will win PR. Boonen isn't as fast as when he was 25 and I can imagine a year with a group of Cancellara, Boonen, Leukemans, Pozzato or something: he has a change to outsprint them.

Well, he had some minor wins, one stage win in Swiss, a nice polka dot jersey, but he just had his biggest victory of his life, likely the biggest victory he is ever going to get: Soler getting out of the hospital alive.

You may as well be accurate along with your mistaken judgement (I'm sure you meant well) to feel that the above post is appropriate: Soler also won a Tour stage in 2007 (Briancon?) from a solo breakaway.

It never ceases to amaze me that some of the cn forumites can remember the names of climbs and combatants from virtually every important race off the top of your heads. I recall some but often not the particular climb or stage just the participants.
