Not attacking.
Getting back.

Semantics. He attacked the group he was in, who was likely pacing with him to play it safe. Now if the lead group can hammer it out on the descent, they can gain some big time on the second group (potentially). Again, if that was planned, it's freaking brilliant, IMO.

Andy Schleck didn't fully commit: his mistake.

He kept looking back, looking back when attacking. Sign of not fully committing to an attack.

Dave Z coming back. Problem with that break was that only Schlecklet and his brother were willing to push the pace.

It is just not steep enought for a guy like Andy. Maybe toughening up this stage will pay dividends tomorrow.

Okay, I see vis not steep enough for Andy S (the lighter guys' advantage is bigger the steeper it is).

Yeah, Wiggo only make a slight pull when Lance was about to join.

I need to be clearer in my posts. What I meant was if any other potential GC riders stayed with him then he would attack and try to break them up. He ended up bringing Vande Velde and others up so it didn't work. I was just wondering if that was the plan.

Yeah... pretty surprising really. A lot of people that you would expect to be dropped before Evans reached the summit with the Yellow Jersey group.

I think Evans might be slightly sick or something. He should have been able to keep pace with the likes of Vande Velde and the others who followed Armstrong back to the yellow jersey group. This type of climb should suit him.

Just the fact that he's there is amazing to me.

It's perfectly normal for a rider in mid career to suddenly become one of the best climbers in the world.

Is see CN live report says: "the Schlecks split the group, but then backed off a little"

That's what I though. Prob. didn't think their gap was big enough to hold on the descent. But still Andy's mistake for hedging.
