Official thread TdF Stage 15 Pontarlier - Verbier - 207.5 km

Page 16 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Definitely the best stage of the race so far. And it only took them two weeks!

I think with Lance the only question at this point is if he can hold on to his position over the next two stages, and then to Paris.

The only question on Contador is whether or not some disaster befalls him. Because at the rate he rode today, the Tour is over.

I sniff Lance's chamois and think it smells like gardenias.

This is all you have to post part timer.

The funny thing is that after today, I don't really have to even write about Lance. He is no longer a factor, which is what I said would happen. Me and others have been hounded by fanboys with single digit posts for the last 2 weeks about all of this, and the fact is that after today, many will never be heard from again. I follow cycling year long, not just in July. I will still be here for the rest of the year, will you?

Looks like the fanboy is taking his anger out on others. Let's just hope he does not have any guns in his house.

I have plenty of those, but this is much more entertaining. You actually think you know what your talking about. AC happy, JBs happy, LA is happy, Astana is right where they want to be, and your worried about what "fanboys" are thinking - sad life you guys lead.

lancearmstrongSt15 done. Ouch! Verbier was as hard as I thought. Alberto - super and had great punch/power. A heartfelt congrats to him. Rest day 2morrow!

This was his tweet for today, btw.

Again, its like watching a boxer who talked massive shit being interviewed after he got knocked out. Of course he is going to sound magnanimous, he just got his ass kicked.

Looks like Contador is the team leader...for now.

Nope,

Armstrong said in the interview after the stage that Contador is the strongest in the race...he and Kloden are just cards to play now should something happen.

I don't see the old man doing anything great in the TT.

I think this kind of comment is a bit disrespectful, it's typical of people on a forum who slate people in a particular sport, yet have achieved nothing themselves. The guy has been off the bike for 3.5 years and his nearly 38 years old, yet he has handed many a 20-30 year old their *** on a plate in this race, regardless of the TTT etc, the guy is second overall.

Can't take anything from Contador so far though, he is in a different league to the rest of the peloton, I will be doubley impressed if he puts in a top 3 in the TT on Thursday, all the great riders have been good at both climbing and TT'ing, it's a real pity he wasn't in it last year, this would surely have been his third tiur win in a row.

I think I've been fair on both sides. I'm certainly a fan of Lance, but there's also a lot of stuff that I don't like about the guy. Unlike you, I can be objective and see both sides. I wonder if my 10 posts have added more to this forum than your thousands of repetitions????

Bradley Wiggins

I've looked through all the coverage in the news around the world (I'm based in Switzerland) and I'm curious why the name of B Wiggins doesn't appear, even in this site's coverage of the last stage where he has now ridden into 3rd place GC

Cause no one wants to print a picture of him with his "luggage".

When did he talk 'massive ****', I think all he said was he'd come here to try and win, which is what most of the GC riders came to do didn't they ?

For those of you on the other side of the pond, be happy. You could find yourself reading mainstream news in the US today and come across a sports headline that reads:

Armstrong Moves up to 2nd in Tour de France

:D

That's the part that makes me puke (that, and the Chinese buffet I had Friday.)

An unexpected performance by a rider moving into a podium position is not as newsworthy as a fossil getting dropped..

No.

Moving on, I cannot stand the guy because of what he has done to people who have merely expressed opinions about him or testified to what he said in hospital rooms. He has given me little to no reason to be "objective" anymore. I used to be an Armstrong fan, right up to the point where he chased Simeoni down. After that, it was clear who and what he was. I give little to no leeway to anyone like that until they give reason to do so. He wants to come out and apologize to Simeoni, Bassons, Betsy Andreau, and others, I will listen and give him all the respect in the world. Until that day, he can blow me.
