Earlier he stated he couldn't keep up without doping so he was forced to dope, then he begins to not only keep up but actually begins to win, but then he decides to never dope again and yet he keeps winning. Wow that stuff has some prolonged effect.
Actually I'm surprised he didn't go with that old favourite, "It didn't even work for me".

O'Grady is an idiot. He could have faded into obscurity and no one would have bothered with him anymore or cared about his wins. Instead, he needed to assure everybody that he's not a fraud, thus drawing attention to the fact that he's even more of a fraud than most of the general public believed.

I can't remember. Was ogrady one of the ones who went after other dopers e.g. di Luca, Landis, ricco etc when they got caught, e.g. like how Brian smith went after contador.

His comments are not addressed to those who understand the game. They are addressed to the larger Aussie sporting audience, very few of whom I would guess have a sophisticated understanding of the history of doping in cycling.

Yes and to flog the book and so he'll be able to show face at the TDU.

O'Grady will be a manger on GrennEdge before you know it.

Good work son. And who says the Aussies don't tolerate doping?

That group didn't need addressing. And it's hard to keep both groups completely separated in the internet era.

So he prides himself on only doping at some point (which I highly doubt) in his career. That's like saying I'm proud because I only murdered someone 17 years ago (I didn't in case you're reading, NSA spy) and never ever since.

Tosser.

Yeah but with the public already knowing, he muredered another five.

Those groups are not separated at all, the group that red is speaking of is the group that calls us "haters".;)

It is the argument many are using against past dopers. I am guessing based on a recent study that suggests long term steroid use has lifetime effects. Could that past doping chang his physiology enough that he could keep up after a term of drug cheating?

So sad his confession did not satisfy the clinicians. Too ridiculous he could be telling the truth? Could he? no! how silly of me.

It is too bad the gullible might actually believe he motored through group after group at the close of P-R on residual steroid effects and it happened on good ol' Team CSC, the team where riders went to experience giant leaps in performance over what they were doing on their previous team.

The problem for Stuey is that he did not come out and confess to his 1999 doping, then the truce came out through the tests, so he has lost peoples trust, so when he says what he says about P-R and the olympics it is natural for people to not beleive him, he would be better keeping his mouth shut even if he didn't dope then

Its only the evil spaniards and italians that do things like that. Anyone that is part of the british empire that got busted for doping only doped once and then rode clean for the rest of their careers. (Millar, Hesjedal etc)

Doping or not Zabel was twice + the man that Stuey ever was...

I am pretty sure O'Grady did not turn on the waterworks when he was forced to confess to his doping.

Zabel has managed to stay in the sport, something O'Grady is going to hopefully find hard to do.

Not that i am happy about Zabel being in the sport.

O'Grady claims to have taken EPO in "extremely cautious amounts" for two weeks prior to TdF1998 and then destroyed all of his stash when the Festina affair broke, right before the Tour started. Still his sample from July 26, two weeks into the race, was positive for EPO. How can anyone believe even that part of the story?

Seems like a long half-life for a "cautious" amount.

Maybe, just as "more than 10 years ago" = March last year, 2 weeks = 2 years, and cautious = as much as would fit in the needle?

Lets see how many cycling journalists question O'Grady about his bullsh!t.

I bet it won't be many, if at all. He's like Teflon for some reason. We'll have to see.

He's had something to say after all of them, "ban cheats for life" after Ricco.
on Landis
STUART O'GRADY: I thought that was impossible, what he did. I'm not a bad bike rider and, you know, he made me look like a little kid.

He'll probably continue to be as well. Australia has just thrashed England 5-0 in the Ashes test series and the Aus Open is just around the corner with Lleyton Hewitt showing his first real form in donkeys years. The English Premier League is getting more publicity ATM than off season cycling news ever will and even though the TDU is a few weeks away it's only a small blip in the sports news here.

O'Grady picked the perfect time to say something this stupid. Unless you actually get up and actively chase current cycling news online you wouldn't even know about it.
