Can they say that without being banned, suspended or having some kind of trouble?

He sure as **** won't be nominated for the Olympics again I would hope.

It's as tailor-made as it can get. So Cav had to learn to climb a tiny bit to survive this course? Pfff, he was climbing better in 2009.

Cav has to win this. The sport authorities been hearing all week how great that would be for cycling and the Olympics. Everything's going according to the script.

That nicely designed plan to make cycling popular in the U.K. is panning out well; Worlds Cavendish, Tour win Wiggins, Olympics Cavendish;

tap a new market of over 60m people... good for everyone.

Germany had been lost after Ulrich; the US, after Lance... probably also put a dent into revenue.

Can Eisel ever do anything for himself and stop being Cav's shadow?

Austria is real proud I'd say.

He's won Gent-Wevelgem, which, unless he gets a real stroke of good fortune, is probably as big as he might have reasonably expected.

Bear in mind Austria's cycling heroes before him were Bernhard Kohl, Christian Pfannberger and Georg Totschnig, he does at least have some redeeming features.

But yea, this is a bit predictable and looks like it's been exactly what we expected as soon as the route was announced.

People will look back on Cavendish's palmarès in 30 years' time and see that he won a Monument, a Worlds and an Olympics and think he was one of the great Classics riders of all time. Crazy. His Milan-San Remo win was awesome, don't get me wrong, but the Worlds were no different to a TDF flat stage, and this isn't that much better.

I've seen Cav win in harder tour stages.

What's your point? The accusation was that the course was tailor-made for Cav but the inclusion of 9 climbs (al be it small climbs) makes it obvious it was not.

This would be a route tailor made for Cav:

25 of the strongest riders in the peloton....are you looking at the same break as me?
It was a very strong break and was never allowed a lot of time. They've been going fast. Don't focus on stylistic hyperboles and address the actual point.

I think the Sky train has only been soft-pedaling so far not letting the break get too far up the road.

They've got a looong lead-in to the finish to crush the field and set the storybook ending up.

Yeh it's a disgrace really. How much respect do you show your country when you decide to ride for another country.
This are the olympics.. it shouldn't be about teams.
If Uran does the same I will dislike him forever.

Despite Sky's control the race is still open. Guys who truly wants to win by attack will wait till the end. Just saving energy, anything can still happen. Plenty of guys who haven't shown their cards yet.
