Nothing wrong with that.

Really how so? explain to me how most of the nation teams are happy right now? why would most nations willingly help GB?

It's the story of Cav's life that when he doesn't get his way he whines like a child, haven't heard such soft talk from the other members?

There were plenty of deals and the like in the days before race radios (Stephen Roche was reputedly a fantastic tactician and broker), and the teams have road captains. They worked all day and made it obvious that they would do so. They should have tried to force the others to work with them by sitting up and not committing so hard so early, or by putting men up the road.

Thats where they went wrong today.

On a humorous note, on the non-ticketed little hill I was on, there was a really large proportion of fat stewards. Someone organising this had a cruel sense of humour. Was hilarious seeing some of these guys too out of breath by the time they got up to us to even tell us to stand behind the white line.

I think they're called volunteers.

Disappointed Team GB didn't tow me to the finish.
Same record, different vocals.
Their statements hardly compare. Boonen says he wanted a sprint, but he had Roelandts and Gilbert in the front precisely so that he wouldn't need to do anything else. He also doesn't say anything about everyone being out to get him and about that making Belgium or Flanders a great nation.

UK only has to blame themselves for naivety instead of pointing with fingers. It makes them look like sore losers

Again, UK should not blame others. They failed.

Boonen is pointing the finger and blaming GB.
Seems GB failed for Belgium, as well.

Nice post in the Sky clinic thread, btw.:(

Sky rode against every team in the race. Right from start. How / why did they expect other teams to assist when their tactics were to burn everyone off their wheels? That's not how you win races.

Cannot remember when I last saw such poor tactics. It was long slow painful public suicide in front of 1 million people.

Lol, so you are basically contradicting yourself. Germany had tactics to beat GB, not to win the race.

So Germany should have chased with Degenkolb and lose anyway? Do you have any idea how stupid you sound?

Try something else to pass your frustration over the British team not winning for once. Go watch some TDF replays or something. Seriously.

Germany pretty much put Tony Martin at the front very early. That's going all-in for me. The fact that they kept Degenkolb at hand is logical. If you want to beat Cavendish you at least have to keep the lead-out man for Greipel alive.

Again, UK should not blame others. They failed.

He gave up half way round the course. He was sat on his *** in the tent whilst the rest of the GB guys were riding an extra 100k. That's hardly "all-in". One cannot compare Germany's effort to GB.

Yep. Maybe they were riding a high horse (correct expression?) and just overestimated themselves. Incredible to see Wiggo and Froome being done. Haven't seen this in a while.

I thought Germany played their hand well by doing enough up front to keep the break in sight but ensuring GB did most of the work. They could have shared the work equally with GB and probably guaranteed silver or bronze but they wanted to give themselves the best chance to win gold by ensuring Cav had no teammates for the finale while keeping back Degenkolb. It's basically what we've been asking for all year - don't just hand it on a plate to Cavendish.

You're reading what you want to read. Boonen is disappointed his team didn't take the bull by the horns and left too much of their fate to Sky. Cav is the only one here playing the blaming game.

Well they both ended in failure, that's a rather fair comparison.

Nicely done, going on the offensive rather than admitting you contradicted yourself.

Germany had the choice of risking Degenkolb to potentially have a chance of victory, or not risking Degenkolb and having no chance of it. What is the point of a leadout if you are 1 minute behind?

As for frustration over Team GB, I was supporting Greipel/EBH.

Honestly don't see how this is a GB fail. Everyone raced not to win, but to not lose to Cav.

Yeah. thats why Nibali Gesink Gilbert Cancellara Vino Uran Menchov Chavannel lulu s etc etc went on the attack. So that Cav would lose. Had nothing to do with them maybe wanting to win the race:rolleyes:
