I attended both road races in 2012 - I will never forget standing in the pouring rain 500m from the finish & seeing Lizzie & Vos duelling for the win. Was such a fun event.

I think the first Belgian in the peloton hits the barrier on the left side because of the crash.
Was someone from Canada they said on Sporza. First thought it was Kopecky.

Edit: I’m also thinking it was her with the red helmet.

I was about to laugh at Spain and Australia for controlling at the front but there's been a crash and now Garcia is in a great position.

You can see Kopecky in the barriers here:

Just tuned in, jesus wept it's the same horrific German commentator from last week again and the Olympic production team keeps continuing their trend of showing Paris seightseeing.

He thinks Kopecky is out in front on her own, fecking donkey.

Remco Kopecky.

Pretty insane effort. Front group should've worked better tho.

Vollering getting upset at the lack of assistance she's getting, but nobody wants to collaborate with Wiebes, most of those riders have teammates up front, and the only riders there who have reason to help her are on their own so have nobody to count on. Maybe Schweinberger and Uttrup the only ones she could really realistically call on.

Somehow the pace is still decent and no one attacks while Kopecky catches her breath at the back of the group.

No one's beating Kopecky here anyway

No, although I fear the numbers game with the Britons. There still remains one possible outcome I'll enjoy less than a Kopecky win.

Edit: actually possibly 2. It depends on how Kopecky wins. Wiebes is only winning a sprint, I'd probably rather Kopecky win a good race than Wiebes win a bad one, but I'd probably rather Wiebes win than Kopecky if it is a sprint.
