Kluge can take it all the way, great ride in the points race, really showed the 6-day legs to the young guys, just too bad Iljo, or Marvulli weren't there

terrible call relegating the Venezuelan
but it was the correct call, he shut the door just after the other rider was already in the lane, 2 sec earlier (or if the move was outside the 200 meter line) it would have been fine, timing, just like the GB girls team sprint

Wow, British TP women with a show of total domination as well, incredible.

eta: what the ****'s going on with the one woman's hair cut? She looks like she's doing chemotherapy.
From about the age of 11 she suffered from alopecia (i.e. hair loss). Must have been pretty tough esp. for a girl.

Funny race, but lots of confusion.

How many points does Choi get, what about who just got eliminated two rounds ago?

Is simply refusing to leave the race allowed here or what? :D
Looked like his red light did not go off so he had no idea.

You certainly earn your money if you race the omnium. Still pretty open at the moment.

Cav earlier was saying the omnium is for youngsters getting into the sport, it gives them a flavour of different events, and helps develop their track skills. He said it was a shame that the IP had been dropped as it was the blue ribbon event of the track.

Not sure what Clancy's deal was, kept drifting off only to bury himself in the final 200m, running on fumes?
It looked that way. As they got to the last 5 it was clear that he had nothing left in his legs. And they had also had the points race as well just a bit earlier. Clancy's worst events tend to be the longer endurance events.

It is a tactic that Laura Trott has used in her last few Omniums. Reap the benefit of the slipstream and then sprint just enough to avoid being eliminated.

Hansen is normally pretty strong in the second day so look for him to do well.

Still think it will be very close amongst the top5, any could win it. Hansen/Viviani my favourites.

Be interesting to see if anyone tries to go from the gun against Baugé. He really suffered after the race when Kenny did that.

A real shame the top countries can only field one rider though.

Your first point demonstrates why the second is, maybe, actually not such a bad idea. You could, for example, have Hoy softening up Bauge for a final against Kenny, which wouldn't really feel right in a purely individual event.

You have a point but I don't remember that happening or hearing about it in any sprint (That's not too say it hasn't happened or wouldn't happen).

It is good in that it does give 'lesser' countries the chance to gain experience in the later rounds but it means the spectators don't get to see the best riders.

Bauge has said it's stupid not having Hoy there. Pat has ensured that for the track events we are no longer seeing all of the best men and women competing. Perhaps Pat should take over swimming `we can't have all of these different events and just one country winning them all'!

The lap he took on his own in the scratch race (esp. after that crash) was very impressive. Well deserved.

Indeed. Taking that lap looked like a doomed to fail project for a while.
