I'm not convinced of that. If that were true, dyed hair would (have) be(en) far more widespread, but we've seen it come and go along the general trends in our society at large. Furthermore, half the 1998 Festina squad had dyed their hair blonde, and their hair tests still were positive for a number of PEDs.

it could be a matter of supersticion.

and if the dyed hair doesn't help, it doesn't damage either. so I'd do it.
it would look odd on a guy like aldirto though.

The hair dye and peroxide helps nullify the drug hair testing. Its an old trick but works like a charm.
Passing A Hair Drug Test
As we mentioned in the last section, the drug metabolites that are being tested for grow into the cortex of the hair. The cortex is packed tightly with keratin proteins and pigments that give your hair its color. One of the only things that can actually penetrate the hair cortex is bleach, which changes the pigment color. However, bleaching will not remove the drug metabolites. So if you are thinking of bleaching your hair for passing a hair drug test, don't bother, it doesn't work. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it

Yeah, that's why I posted a photo of Virenque from 1998 on the previous page :)

Still at least you look good when you are being escorted from the hotel by the pigs.

Why is anyone surprised?

This again establishes the truth that cycling is no cleaner than before and it also reinforces that it is from outside the sport that the anti doping comes, police forces and custom officials doing their jobs.

It definitely casts Gilbert into the doping pit with the rest. His results this year absolutely look 'enhanced'.

Bet OPL still ride the tour. Should they? Of course not! If Vansevenant is paid any monies from OPL that should see the team cast out, but it wont will it?Gilbert has McQuaid's son as his agent/manager. That more or less guarantees them a free ride through the tour with no positives.

Let's hope they make the modern doping public so we can discuss the latest techniques.

Should we name this 'The Veterinarian TdF' and allocate animal names to the contendors:rolleyes:
Andrew McQuaid IS NOT Philippe Gilbert's agent, lets disabuse you of this apocryphal Clinic meme

I thought this thread would explode.

Here we have an ex-pro who will be with the OPL team the whole tour getting a shipment in of a new product days before the big dance.

...

Why would an ex pro want doping products unless they were supplying others they would not - join the dots time.

...
The title wasn't very catchy. But yes, this is big IMO. I did not connect the dots initially, but now it looks clear. I'll keep reading the rest of this thread.

I wonder what the doping apologists would say about this? Escepially in the racing forum where there are a lot of Lotto fans.

I beg your pardon?

Thymosins have at least three major effects that would be potentially performance-enhancing (maybe more):

muscle recovery/repair
anti-inflammatory
angiogenesis

AFAIK, thymosins do not induce the "growth of new blood cells" as that link indicated. They induce the formation of new blood vessels, IOW, increase the blood supply of tissues. Though the information on b4 suggested angiogenesis only in dermal (skin), I believe that other tissues, including muscle, may be affected This could potentially make them as PE as EPO, though, as oxygenation of tissues depends not only on how many red cells there are, but how many blood vessels there are to unload them. But even angiogenesis in skin would be helpful, as it would accelerate heat loss by the body.

There is also evidence that they may be responsive to hypoxia, that is, part of a compensatory process in the body's cells when the latter are low in oxygen. This would make them particularly important in endurance events.

Lets demystify some of easily verifiable facts.

(i) the investigated product was ordered NOT from an underground lab (as the cn article implies) but from a legitimate australian company:

oxymoron, dichotomy? do they have roads in the antipodes?

So Gilbert aint clean afterall.

There is no proof that Gilbert is involved though is there.

I find it quite frustrating when get excited when the catch hasnt even been made.

His defenders or those who are convinced riders they dont like (eg Cancellara Schleck, Radioshack) must be doping because they dont like them, but great Gilbert cant be because we like him, have lost nothing. They can still make the same arguments.

I recieved a lot of critisicm for suggesting Saint Phil isnt necessarily clean just because he did an anti doping advert but i wont claim i have been proven right unless he actually gets caught.

And i still think his performances were very impressive, doping or not.

Well, I know who I'm not spending velogames points on now...

Kind of fitting that it's Vansevenant of all people, even though winning the laterne rouge usually indicates a strong rider who's strategically giving all he has for the team and not the weakest rider in the bunch. But still it's very symbolic.

i agree that perhaps i connected too many dots too easily in the thread-opener.
I'm not sure why there were rumors so quickly in the press about superdoping.
it led me to believe that this was much more of a bombshell than it eventually might turn out to be.
i did cover my *** though by adding a question mark to the bombshell.

Good grief what has he done to his hair?

That national jersey is beyond awesome - it is the jersey of one day and uphill finish kickass :D:D:D

(designer of GB national jersey pls take heed)

I think this story is just one dot, and is not going to connect up all that well, but there are no surprises in cycling etc etc
