That was the most likely outcome, although it did look like Van Anrooij was about to make it hard for ELB to come around.
It worked out in the end amd Van Anrooij doesn't look upset but it was a bit on edge momentarily

No Shirin is like this. One of the friendliest teammates you can have. Always smiling and happy in interviews (even if it was bad). Will give everything for the team. She will get her chance in the next years.

Btw normally not her fan tactically but I think ELB made the right choice chasing down her teammate. Shirin was clearly cooked and it was just a 10-5s gap and a further 10-5s gap to the SDW group, no way she is keeping that gap for over 10km. Instead they got a situation were Kasia was happy to work in order to guarantee the podium and Shirin could rest a bit in the run in before giving that leadout.

Also there's no shame in getting dropped by better climbers. The last few years she's not even been close to the podium, so it's still not a bad result for her, but she probably wanted more.

She have her all. After bad luck last year she found herself again. Love to see it. Didn’t knew she had it in her what she showed these races. Hope her team let her start more in Belgium now.
Think she will be really happy with her race and top 10.
