I have to say that I believe him about the burglar thing. What makes me believe that what happened was rather a tragic accident than a murder in purpose, is the fact that he lives in Pretoria. Having relatives there I can assure you that people live and sleep with guns by their side because this place has indeed huge criminality problem.

On the other hand it seems very stupid the way this happened... very stupid indeed to be something that hw was planing to do .She wasn't his wife.. he had nothing to gain by killing her, ( her fortune or something) and why someone would plan to kill his girlfriend without having not even a decent alibi?? Murder does not have to be logical.

Everything I have heard leads me to believe that the police view this as a case of a man murdering his girlfriend, nothing accidental about it at all. Maybe they are wrong, maybe there is a defense, but it is not looking good. I think he is in a lot of trouble and we have seen him race his last race.

Gated communities are not unbreachable, but the one that Pistorius lived in allegedly has 3 metre walls, electrified fences and armed security guards 24-7. Seems to make intruders rather unwelcome.

I just hope that his trial doesn't go the way of other celebrity killers/manslaughterists and Psitorious gets off with nothing more than a hard slap on the wrist. In light of the Pistorious news The Washington Post has a blog post about other athletes who bumped off other people and what punishment they received. I never heard of him before, but the Robert Rozier case is just plain bizarre.

There were 4 shots to the hand and face after two you think he would think the intruder was disabled.

I don't know how I would react if I had the suspicion that an intruder was in my house, especially if I lived in an area that there would be 43 killings each day.. ( even less would be enough ). I suppose that in such kind of areas you either kill or you being killed..

I'm not a Pistorius' fan, but I don't think that he is this kind of evil person, who would kill his girlfriend in cold blood.

Perhaps they were drunk.. In any case this seems more like a tragic mistake or accident.. but it is really sad that something like this happened to this young people.

Unless you know him personally, it's very, very difficult to be able to form a realistic picture of what someone in public life is like in private.

In the end, this is a huge tragedy, but the evidence if properly identified and collected will ultimately tell the truth of the events.

You know better than to determine whether or not someone is a steroid abuser simply by how they look. Hedo Turkoglu got suspended for 20 games yesterday for steroid use. One of the last people you'd expect. Plenty of other examples.

It appears from my reading that severe mood swings seem to occur only in a small percentage of steroid abusers so if in fact he did murder the poor girl, maybe he was just an *******.

It's hard not to rush to judgement as his defense seems a little thin to me at first glance; especially considering the previous domestic disturbance calls. I'm trying though.

I was more talking in general rather than this specific case. We do not what happened although your description is what I had been thinking. The shot hand might be a defensive wound or maybe he just shot wildly. Did all 4 shots he fired hit her?

The information I've read indicated she was hit 4 times, but I'm sure additional details will come out.

He has apparently arrived at court to appear at a bail hearing and it is expected that some additional details will emerge in the next few hours.

both of these events are common. Many years of watching TV and movies reveals only the good guys can shoot straight and clean their weapons, the SWAT guys and crooks are useless.
