OMG great performance by TJVG in the rain!! Interesting to see how he does in the GC. At least there is one BMC rider with good form.

With time bonuses available and punchy uphill finishes, suddenly Valverde being 29 seconds back from Wiggins doesn't seem so bad. Chavanel is in a very good position too, and Taaramäe. Sky will have to do a lot of work to control stages like Mende to defend that lead, finishes which aren't suited to Wiggins at all. Valverde is a threat in reduced bunch finishes like I expect after the Col de Vence, with time bonuses available as well. What time did Porte do?

Tony totally off form :(:(
I think he should consider leaving the race and g abck to training. Doesn't make much sense to go on. Nothing to win here for Tony

Let's see how he does on the climbs. That's where he has to improve. His work in that department might effect his ITT. I wouldn't worry about it. :D

His climbing was average in ALgarve so lets wait and see.

he was motoring on the flats, lost time in the corners forsure.

If i remember correctly martin has done poorly in the wet before?
Yes, Martin isn't a big risk taker in time trials.

But Sky came into this race totally prepared to defend yellow and their team will be totally behind wiggins like they were behind Porte in Algarve.
If there was any team which I would want to defend lead it would be Sky
Porte did an 11:37 , in 16th and 17 seconds behind Wiggins, though it did dash his hopes of winning as he will probably be expected to work full out for Wiggins now.

Andy Schleck losing a minute in a 9K time trial to Wiggins is really poor, or is Wiggins peaking a bit too early in the season?

Wiggins is always good in TT's though, no diffrence if peaking or not. He already said he would target PN, Cataluyna, Romandie as the stage races he wanted to do well in though.

@Bavarianrider
you could see the way he was riding, he wasn't pushing it as hard as wiggo.
it was a conservative ride.

shocking revelation.

Having a strong team is of course an advantage, but it wont change the fact that valverde is better on punchy and selective finishes lol, or that wiggo isn't the best climber here.

fyi most good teams are totally behind their leaders. ;)

Larsson looks really happy. He had a tough last year at Saxo Bank. Even if the win was a bit lucky, still a great ride and good to see him win again.

But surely that doesn't explain the huge gap. He's out of shape, let's face it.
Wiggins didn't take a lot of risks either, but he's technically simply better than Martin. Really, taking one corner conservatively can cost you a few seconds, let alone 20 corners.

This! Wiggo is hands down better prologue specialist than Tony.
