I still say Porte is the favourite, especially after Alberto strangely lost 17 seconds.
I don't see why it would be strange. Contador and Zakarin took pulls, got dropped. Porte didn't, so he didn't. Makes sense to me.
Actually scratch that, Zakarin finished with Porte. Didn't notice him
WheelofGear said:What would you rate these guys chances for a overall win now? I'd say:
Henao 20%
Dan Martin 15%
Gallopin 10%
Alaphilippe 33%
Gallopin is usually a GC candidate in smaller races like P-N. I expect him to be great.

Porte will gain back time to Henao in the TT and is better in MTFs. Still the favourite

Anyway, for the GC it's Henao vs Alaphilippe vs Porte, even if Contador is strong he won't close these gaps. It's 20s too many to each of them.
Lol, that's true! 40 second lead though seems pretty huge to me on a course with only a very short TT and one mountain- especially for a rider who is on form and has the strongest team in the race. He's even got a decent chance at bonus seconds and of gapping Porte/Bardet in the stages either side of the TT.Arredondo said:DFA123 said:Dififcult to see how Henao loses this with the form he is in and the team he's got.
But if there's one rider who has a talent of giving certain wins away, it's Henao

Alaphilippe seems in really good form, Abu Dhabi already showed that.WheelofGear said:What would you rate these guys chances for a overall win now? I'd say:

Zakarin* is still the main rival of Porte*. And Henao is a great time trialist when it's hilly.portugal11 said:Porte is still the main rival of contador. Henao isn't a good time trialist, he will loose 30 seconds there

What? Don't tell me it's an "excuse", because he said it before the stage.Valv.Piti said::lol:LaFlorecita said:No surprise Contador got dropped after such a tough stage, let's see his real shape later this week. Eh? Even if Henao loses 30 seconds he's still ahead of Porte and over half a minute ahead of Contador. Possibly more if he drops them both on the two murito-ish finishes.portugal11 said:Porte is still the main rival of contador. Henao isn't a good time trialist, he will loose 30 seconds there
Not sure it's the brightest strategy to let your rivals know you are slightly weak before a slightly lumpy stage in dodgy weather.LaFlorecita said:What?
