What an absolute killer of a stage.

I still say Porte is the favourite, especially after Alberto strangely lost 17 seconds.

I don't see why it would be strange. Contador and Zakarin took pulls, got dropped. Porte didn't, so he didn't. Makes sense to me.

Actually scratch that, Zakarin finished with Porte. Didn't notice him

Bardet was chasing in a long time. Still dropped Contador.

What would you rate these guys chances for a overall win now? I'd say:

Henao 20%
Dan Martin 15%
Gallopin 10%
Alaphilippe 33%

Gallopin is usually a GC candidate in smaller races like P-N. I expect him to be great.

Dififcult to see how Henao loses this with the form he is in and the team he's got.

But if there's one rider who has a talent of giving certain wins away, it's Henao

Porte will gain back time to Henao in the TT and is better in MTFs. Still the favourite

The TT might be a problem.Porte and Zakarin are still dangerous.

I see Zakarin as a big favorite as Porte. Great in a hilly TT and long, gradual MTF.

Contador doesn't look good.

Henao is very underrated in a TT (especially when there is a hill in it). He is no Dan Martin or Purito.

No surprise Contador got dropped after such a tough stage, let's see his real shape later this week. He did say before the stage he caught a cold. Anyway, for the GC it's Henao vs Alaphilippe vs Porte, even if Contador is strong he won't close these gaps. It's 20s too many to each of them.

Lol, that's true! 40 second lead though seems pretty huge to me on a course with only a very short TT and one mountain- especially for a rider who is on form and has the strongest team in the race. He's even got a decent chance at bonus seconds and of gapping Porte/Bardet in the stages either side of the TT.

Swap Martin with Alaphilippe. He will lose a decent amount of time in the TT.

I don't know man. Martin is a much better climber. In the Tour, he was hard to drop for Porte. I even except Martin to win a stage (stage 6).

Alaphilippe seems in really good form, Abu Dhabi already showed that.

Martin/Alaphilippe is a strong power duo. One can attack while the other "rest" in the GC group.

Porte is still the main rival of contador. Henao isn't a good time trialist, he will loose 30 seconds there
Zakarin* is still the main rival of Porte*. And Henao is a great time trialist when it's hilly.

Racing so far this year has been very aggressive. We had Omloop, KBK, Strade and now Paris Nice. The Giro and Vuelta have always been raced hard, so let's just hope that the TDF and the Ardenaines will keep the same trend.

What? Don't tell me it's an "excuse", because he said it before the stage.

Eh? Even if Henao loses 30 seconds he's still ahead of Porte and over half a minute ahead of Contador. Possibly more if he drops them both on the two murito-ish finishes.

Gallopin will surprise. He is a great hilly time trialist and is always great in Paris-Nice. I think he can go on the podium.

Holy crap, I didn't watch today's stage because I expected a dull sprint stage. How wrong I was!

Those time gaps.

Not sure it's the brightest strategy to let your rivals know you are slightly weak before a slightly lumpy stage in dodgy weather.
