Just one more thought from me: I recall a number of people (including me!) bemoaning the fact that Roglic didn't/wouldn't/couldn't put the nail in Pogacar's coffin in the Tour last year. That could have been on his mind when he pipped Mader at the line. As it turns out it didn't matter if he gave Mader the stage or not, but just to say race management is complicated, and I'm not yet sure he's the best at it (that should also be on his DS, who said TJV screwed up yesterday too).

Strange some people here wonder why Roglic get some help in the back from some guys sympathysing with Roglic after his bad luck. While at the front suddenly a lot of teams and individual riders were riding like madmen in the lead.

I have no idea so I'm just speculating here, but it seems like an easy open goal to help such a powerful rider for a bit in his moment of need. I mean hell, if the yellow jersey Tour de France runner-up 2x Vuelta winner is riding by all cut up, bruised & you're just sitting there twiddling your thumbs, coasting home with zero objective, why not help a little?

With regards to Nacer Bouhanni (who has been mentioned a few times here), A/I don't believe he even did deliberately help Roglic, he just thought he was the "ticket" to get back into the peloton & perhaps go for the sprint win & B/if he did deliberately help him, an easy logical step would be to say his own bad time at Cofidis (who were drilling it up front for Laporte) "could" have had something to do with it.

But it's all just idle speculation & in any case, Bouhanni blew up in his wheel & one of the other guys in front of Roglic (I can't remember his name) almost led him over a cliff into a ravine. So he did the vast bulk of the chase all by himself, basically.

I enjoyed both races a lot. For me cycling is about winning and every person that is in a position to win should take the chance. On Saturday Roglic had the chance to take back Mader on the line and was perfect he did so. That was no situation to give presents.

On Sunday the same Guy was incapable of staying on his bike and some of his competitors took the opportunity to move of some places in GC. Just taking advantage of some misstakes.

Only thing for me is that this should always happen in cycling.
Ok, I agree, no more waiting for leaders jersey in ANY situation; riders better get used to pissing in their pants

Literally every time I read TJV, I think what does Tejay Van Garderen have to do with this?

I hope they change their name soon.
I have the same problem. First I thought the great white American hope was still riding in the top end of a pro race.

Yeah and you better swallow that sandwich whole, no waiting.

Also no more caravan of cars to latch onto, that is the thing that also most don't talk about yesterday. UCI ordered all cars to stop so they couldn't be of help for Roglic. And they never do that when someone crashes, they let them catch on through the cars, but they made an exception yesterday. Talk about beating a man when he's down. Not to mention that normally you would also get treated by a medical car while holding on to it, none of that yesterday as well.

I thought of replying to the car part of yesterday's but then again why bother.. I will sound like a Roglic hater/disliker. Don't dislike or like him/jumbo visma.

If it has happened before, I think he needs to correct it sooner. It can be easily corrected. By the by..putting it back himself during a tough race day and still finished the race is just bonkers. Props to him. A man's man...he is growing on me before I was indiferent to him.

He put it back in himself. Evidently it's happened before.

His ability to accept responsibility and congratulate the winner afterwards is admirable and quite uncommon for an elite athlete.

It's an incredibly painful injury. I have put a few back for rugby players .... hard men ... and they've been screaming. If it is happening time and again it means that his ligaments have stretched. Needs sorting.

You keep repeating this part, but if I look at Tirreno for example, I see nothing but respect and congratulations between the big boys. If I look at sprints between Ewan and Bennett, arguably the 2 best sprinters of the moment, they always immediately congratulate each other. I think it's fair to say that it isn't uncommon at all in cycling, and a lot of other sports, nowadays.

No I don't, I borrowed from another thread LOL!

Regular congrats are normal, but not when one has just lost the Entire Race after dominating and is battered up and exhausted. Give me one example of that please. Usually they ride off to their team bus instead of giving interviews and accepting responsibility.

Yep, pretty much this.

And for what? Paris-Nice? What do these teams think they've achieved? "That'll teach those arrogant Jumbo b*stards!" etc. This wasn't the Tour de France.

Roll on next race (i.e. bigger races) & Roglic will be an even bigger cannibal because why not. It's funny how a small warm-up race at the beginning of the season became a full-blown all out total-war.

Winning like they did yesterday (in fact riding to make the yellow jersey lose after a crash) was all a bit disproportionate IMO considering the relatively low stakes.
If Paris Nice is not important then Roglic should be fine.

He'll be just fine mentally, physically he needs to rest and heal a bit.

He lost The TOUR on the final day and recovered mentally with no problem to come back and win the Vuelta and LBL. He learns and looks Forward, that's his style.

Yeah, mine used to come out if I reached for something wrong. The surgery to fix it is simple but it takes time to rehab
